Dawn POV
“Thank you,” I muttered to the attendant who merely smiled at me after handling my order.
I made my way back into the elevator and pressed my floor before I leaned on the wall.
Sighing, with my eyes closed, my lips folded and I tried to keep myself calm.
I’d run away from home even after being locked up because I don’t wanna get married, but too bad, my Dad found me again.
No! I walked into his den myself… Just to meet my supposed husband.
Nicole…?
I mentally chuckled.
It’s funny, isn’t it? Knowing that I’ve met my supposed husband not even once, but I know nothing.
Sucking in a harsh breath, I flew my eyes open as the elevator dinged and I walked out.
I could not help but think about what my Dad could be up to.
Ever since that day, I’ve heard nothing about him or from anybody.
What he’s planning or what he’s doing it right now
Who knows… perhaps, he’s given up on me.
I mentally chuckled, slapping my face to wake up from this bad fantasy that gives me nothing but false hope.
Knowing my father, I know he’s never the one to give up. He does his thing without notice, and I’m sure he’s planning on how to get me again without me knowing anything.
Or maybe, he’s somewhere busy yelling at my mom about how bad of a mother she could be.
I suddenly feel bad for my mom. Hey! She knows nothing about this, I’m the one who ran away from home because I couldn’t stand getting married to a total stranger.
I just wanna have a normal love life. Just like a scene where the FL met the ML at the coffee cafe. I wanna marry my husband because I love him, not because Dad wanna make a silly deal with him.
But too bad, my love life is already a mess because I already fell in love with the wrong man
I stopped before Ethan’s office door to catch a few breaths.
Thinking about Dad could be exhausting, you know. With his fisted hand, his body shook with fury, and his teeth were gritted together as he glared at me.
Remembering the look on his face that day made me shudder. He looked scary, scarier than he has always looked
Only if the look could kill, I know that I’d be long dead since then.
Thanks to Ethan who saved me from his wrath.
Was he not my knight in shining armour that day?
My lips broke into a smile and I could see how my face lit up in the small circular mirror on the door.
Heck! He’s not a total jerk after all. He even protected me from his brother.
My heart jumped in my throat, and my stomach fluttered happily remembering how he held me that day and how he defended me.
Perhaps, marrying into the Miller family is not totally a bad idea, only if it’s not a must to marry the eldest son.
I slapped my forehead lightly, mentally scolding myself for taking too long before the door.
I quickly pulled the door open without knocking, but the sight that met my eyes made me quickly regret my actions.
I stood, stupefied on my spot as my eyes took in the two people entangled together.
Ethan’s hand was placed on her butt and Melinda’s arms were wrapped tightly around his neck as they sucked on each other’s lips…
Tongue kissing?
“Ethan…?” My voice shook as my tears slowly slid down my face.
Ethan quickly pulled away. He wiped his lips and face me.
Why am I sad? Why is my heart burning so much like it’s on fire? And why does it hurt so much seeing Ethan kissing someone else other than me?
I shook my head, quickly blinking back my tears.
No… Why am I so surprised? Ethan is a manwhore, right?
“Kitten… Dawn…” Ethan sighed.
He edged forward but I cowardly stepped back
“No…” I sniffed.
And out of everyone, he has to make out with Melinda…. and right in his office…. where I stay too?
Ethan ran a frustrated hand through his hair, swiping his tongue over his lips.
Hey! I am more frustrated than him. It felt like something dug through my chest, thorning my heart into pieces.
“Listen….”
“And what’s so wrong in making out with my fiance?” Melinda hissed
Fiance?
“she… she is your fiance?”
“Not my fiance,” Ethan threw a deadly glare at Melinda who merely chuckled.
Taking a few steps forward, she stopped beside Ethan and tried to link their arm together, but Ethan stepped away.
“He made a deal with me, Dawn…”
“Get out, Mel.” Ethan gritted out.
“Ethan… ”
“You don’t want me to repeat myself, Mel.” His frown deepened, hands fisted and he threw her a deadly glare.
Melinda scoffed. “Because of her?” She hissed. “Fine! I think it’s time I tell everything to grandpa.”
Flashing Ethan a last glare, Melinda walked away from him. She stopped to glare at me before she roughly pushed me aside and sauntered out of the room.
His fiancee? Mel…
Come to think of it, Melinda does seem very familiar… It’s like I’ve met her before or so…
Yeah!
With Ethan!
A low gasp escaped my mouth when realization dawned on me. I’ve seen her once with Ethan at the restaurant…
Yeah! The one who splashed him in cold water.
Could she be his fiancee?
“She’s not my fiance!”
I flinched, hearing Ethan’s monotonous deep snap. “She’s not my fiance…” She sighed.
I flew my head up, and my gaze settled on his swollen lips.
Knowing that he got those bruised lips from Melinda makes my heart tighten.
“Kitten…”
“No…” I shook my head, trying so hard to prevent my tears from falling.
I don’t want to be near him. His sight disgusts me. He makes me wanna bend over my knee and cry my eyes out.
Not taking another look at him, I bolted out of his office, running to wherever my legs were carrying me.
One statement kept ringing in my ear.
‘ I want to get away from him. ‘
“Watch where you’re going?”
My legs moved to an abrupt halt as my head collided with a hard figure.
The voice.
The familiar cologne that lingered on my nose.
I gasped. My eyes widened, and my legs buckled beneath me.
Nicole…
I tried to step away from him, but his manly hand quickly snaked around my waist, pressing me harder on his wide chest.
“Cole…” I muffled into his chest.
“Stay here,” Cole whispered.
I shuddered when his lips made contact with my ear.
“Let me offer you my chest. Cry all you want, pretty. Even though that asshole doesn’t deserve your tears.”
He’s right. That classic asshole doesn’t deserve my tears. But it hurts, it hurts so much that I want to cry.
Only if he’s not been nice to me, no! Only if he’s not saved me. Or maybe… Just maybe if I had not hidden in his room…
Wrapping my hand tightly around Nicole’s waist, I buried my head in his wide chest, staining his cloth with my tears as I finally let out my tears.
My heart hurts so much that it bleeds blood
“Let it out, pretty…” He patted my back softly. “Let’s forget everything about that asshole…”
