Dawn POV
“How about this?” I gritted my teeth as I stood before Ethan in a body hug creamy clothes that stop a little above my knees.
If I’m right, then this will be the twelfth cloth I’ll be trying on today. Right, every time I come out wearing the clothes, he always wears that annoying cute pout and dismisses me with a wave, saying he’s not comfortable with the clothes.
“Hmm….” Ethan narrowed his gaze, his eyes dancing around my body before they settled on my exposed cleavages.
Ethan ran a tongue over his lips, his eyes filled with lust as he stared at me hungrily.
Ugh! I know that! He’s mentally undressing me with his eyes.
“I’m good with this, right?” I cleared my throat, casting a short glance at Ethan.
Without replying, Ethan stood up and edged closer to me. He pulled me, wrapping his manly arms around my waist.
“You…,” I blinked up at him, trying so hard to even my breath.
Hey! What is he doing? We’re not the only ones here, and please, can you tell this man that those eagled-like eyes and sharp mouth are watching us closely.
“What are you doing?” I whispered.
Ethan grazed his palm on my ass, earning a sharp and long intake of breath from me.
“What do you think?” He smirked.
“You…”
Ethan leaned forward, placing a soft and cold kiss on my ear.
“Do not worry,” he whispered. “We’re not doing anything here.”
I chuckled. Doing anything here? Damn him! I wasn’t thinking of anything like that.
I quickly pushed him away, taking a couple of steps backward.
I’m sure, so sure that my face will be anything but normal. It’d be messy, pale, and a blushing mess now.
Hugh! Thanks to that asshole!
“C’mon, kitten.” Ethan chuckled.
And not kitten, again. For fuck sake, we’re in public and…
“Dawn?”
My breath hitched in my throat, for a moment, everything stopped moving after hearing that familiar voice.
No! It can’t be. It can’t possibly be him, but the reality was soon to set in when his lean masculine body pulled up before me.
“Dawn…” He called again, rather tentatively.
I’m not sure if he’s affirming or he’s trying to confirm if he’d seen right.
Of course, unfortunately, he’s seen right. It’s me standing before him.
I bit my lower lip, mentally cursing loudly.
“Brent,” I said with a nervous smile, looking up at the young lean man before me.
“And you are?”
For a moment, I had forgotten I was here with Ethan until I heard his loud baritone voice.
Alright, I’ve seen him quiet for sometimes getting mad, but he’s never been this enraged before.
If anything, he’s looking to kill and if the look could kill, Brent would be ten feet underground now.
Ethan wrapped his arms protectively around my waist, pulling me closer as he glared at Brent.
“Dawn?” Brent darted his eyes too quick from Ethan to me.
Okay! I’m not sure if I like his tone or the look on his eyes and I’m not comfortable with the cold glare Brent is getting from Ethan.
“And I think I asked…”
“Okay…”
Successfully, I wriggled myself out of Ethan’s stronghold, stepping in between the two grown men.
“Who’s is he?” Ethan gritted out, diverting his glare on me.
Oh! That’s scary and kind of creepy.
“A friend,” I mumbled. “That I’d like to have a private conversation with.”
Ethan huffed, his chest puffed out under the inner white shirt he was wearing.
If he was looking mad and enraged before, then it’s nothing to what his gaze held now.
“Private, my dick!’ he spat. “I’m not letting you go with this prick.”
“Excuse me,” Brent scoffed. “Don’t you think you should mind your language?”
“Do I need to?” Ethan smirked.
Again, I was pulled against his manly body, his hand finding its way around my waist, and his fingers digging deep into them.
I let out a groan, running a frustrated hand through my hair.
“Let’s talk this out, Ethan,” I grunted, trying to get his hand away from my waist.
But damn, who am I kidding? The classic asshole is as strong as heck.
“I’m not releasing you to this asshole,” Ethan growled again.
Hey! Is it just Ior Ethan is acting as a protective husband now?
I chuckled, a faint smile slowly creeping on my lips. Why does that thought make my heart race?
I sure like this side of him, but then, to see this side of him again, he must let me speak with Brent.
“I’m sorry, Brent.” I cast a quick apologetic look at Brent who still look pale and pretty surprised as though he’s seen a ghost.
Hey! Ethan could be such a handful sometimes, but he’s also got a nice side
“This is urgent,” I whispered. “If you still want me in your house, Ethan, then I have to talk to Brent.”
Ethan opened his mouth to talk again but I was quick to cut him off.
“Let me explain later,” I mumbled. “It’s urgent.”
Ethan permed his lips, his eyes pulled up together and his brows furrowed.
His gaze moved too quick from me to Brent than to me again.
Ethan looks as though he’s fighting with his inner demon.
Right! I’d worship his inner demon forever if only he could grant me this.
“But…” He sighed, looking from me to Brent again… “He…”
“He’s a friend.”
“Fine!” Ethan hissed. “I’ll be there watching you.”
And before I could do anything than just open my mouth, Ethan walked a few steps away from us.
I sighed.
“I do not like him.” Brent scowled.
Give it up to Brent to tell you his feeling about someone.
“I know.” I sighed.
“I’m not getting why you’re with that asshole, and why on Earth do you have to run away from home?’ Brent purred out, a frown on his face as he glared at me. “Everyone is worried especially, Henry.”
“And that’s why you’re not to tell anyone that you see me.”
“Dawn…” Brent scoffed. “What are you talking about? Not telling anyone? Do you…”
“Not even Henry must know about this, Brent.” I hissed. “You know about what’s happening, don’t you?”
“Well,” Brent bit his lower lip, slightly looking away from me. “We can’t help it.”
“And I can’t help running away too,” I rolled my eyes.
As though anybody could be comfortable if it were to be them.
“I’ll be back soon,” I smiled. I held his hand in mine, leveling my misty gaze on his. “Trust me.”
Brent sighed. It took quite a while for him to say his next word. “Fine,” he breathed out. “I’m not telling my friend. But tell me, how on Earth you end up with that loser and a total manwhore?”
His frown deepened.
“He’s not a manwhore.”
“Ugh! Tell me what I don’t know.” He rolled his eyes.
I let out a short smile and I quickly pulled him into a hug.
Right, I do not want to talk about Ethan anymore.
Brent placed a quick kiss on my cheeks and hugged me again.
“Be fine, okay?”
“And I think you’re done having your ‘ oh so private conversation ‘ ”
I felt a rough hand pull me away.
His strong cologne invaded my nose as Ethan pulled me close.
“If you do not mind, I’d like to have an oh-so-private conversation with her too.”
His voice was harsh, mean, and cold which got me shuddering and made a cold run through my spine.
“Right,” Brent scowled. “It’s not nice meeting you anyway.”
“I pray we never meet again.”
Ethan smirked.
Not allowing me to say my last goodbye, he pulled me out of the mall and into the car.
“That’s one hell of a prank you pulled in there, isn’t it?” Ethan leaned forward, a cold deadly smirk on his lip. “Should we go have our private conversation too?” He said with a sickening smile.
Ethan flashed me one last glare before he snapped the car door right on my face.
Good grief!
