Ethan POV
“Well then,” Grandpa smiled at Mr Austen as he exited his large office after a handshake.
He walked back to his seat behind the table and dumped his ass on it before he looked up at me.
Finally, we’re alone to talk about that dry joke he made earlier.
“Do you wanna talk to me about something?” He raised his perfectly shaped brows, tucking a strand of his dyed hair behind his ear.
His midnight orbs gazed at me curiously, and his lips slightly parted curiously.
Grandpa still looks so young and agile that sometimes, he might be mistaken for a man in his early fortieth. But then, I’m not here to stare at his still looking young face.
“What was that about?” I asked.
“About what?” Grandpa cocked his brows, a cocky smirk on his lips.
Now he’s back to the grandpa that I know… Cocky and stern
“A date,” I scowled. “I’m not getting that,”
Grandpa sighed, he flipped through some files before him before he spoke again. “That’s why I told you to always be attentive,” he sneered.
“I clearly heard what you said,” I seethed.
Grandpa huffed. He closed the files and glared up at me.
Well, not today. I’m not gonna cringe and shudder under his intense hard glare.
“If you did,” he sighed. “You’re not that slow witted to understand what it means,”
“I chose not to understand, grandpa,” I scoffed. “You’re setting me up on a date?” I ran frustrated tongue over my lips, hand balled into fist. “Was that some kind of a joke?”
“You need a partner,”
“And I never said I won’t get one,” I almost snapped
Partner my dick! Why would I let myself be tied down all in the name of marriage.
No.. please! And if I should get married, I’m not such a toddler to be set up with a girl.
Oh no! Please, I’m well and healthy. I can get a girl myself.
“You make no attempt to get yourself one,”
“And that’s because I’m still pretty young for that shit!”
Grandpa punched his fist hard on the table and I flinched.
Damn! Ethan. Mind your words, will you?
“Sorry,”
“Young?” He growled.
I took a step back.
Grandpa looked anything but calm right now. His eyes were shooting fire and his lips permed angrily together.
“You’re 25,”
If 25yrs old is so old, I wonder what he’ll call a 30yrs old bachelor.
For fuck sake, I’m still so young. The country will be losing such a good young man if I should marry now.
“And besides,” he toned down his voice, his chest rising and falling at intervals under the navy blue suit he wore. “It’s just a blind date, nothing has been decided yet.”
I bit my tongue, biting down the cuss that’s just at the tip of my tongue. Grandpa doesn’t give up so easily… No, he won’t give up until he achieves what he wants, and arguing with him is like fighting a lost battle.
“The lady is question is really beautiful,”
Beautiful my ass.
“And very intelligent. You can go on a date with her and see if you like her.”
I’m sure that I’ll hate it here more than anything else.
“Well,” Grandpa breathed out. “You’re surely going to like her, and you’re gonna ask me to arrange your marriage someday,”
I laughed, but a glare from Grandpa shut my mouth close again.
Like? Ask for marriage? Definitely in his dream.
Grandpa has a really wild imagination, and I’m pretty sure that he’s gonna make a great sale if he starts penning down his ideas.
“Am I free now,?” I mumbled. “I mean, to go to my office?”
“Of course,” he smiled, waving at the door. “You don’t need to thank me. You’re welcome in advance.”
Mentally rolling my eyes, I made my way outta his office, and on getting out, I vent my anger on the secretary desk by hitting my fist on it.
“Damnit!” I cussed.
“Sir… are you… are you okay?”
“Do I look like I am?” I snapped.
Nothing sparing her another glance, I sauntered into the elevator and pressed the number to my floor.
Damn! I thought today’s is gonna be great, but it turned out that I’m having it worse today.
A blind date? Marriage. Where’s all these coming from?
“You’re back,” Andre said as soon as I exist the elevator
I stopped on my track to glare at Andre.
His orthostatic body against the wall, and his hands inside his pocket and a dark cunning smile on his lips.
“You’re here again?”
“Not for you this time,” he smirked.
My eyes moved to Lia beside him and I scoffed.
“Great for you,” I scowled.
Another glance at the both of them, I walked past them into the office and slumped weakly on my seat.
Ah… wasted time.
****
“Goodbye, sir,”
My secretary greeted me as soon as I left my office, and I replied to her with a nod before I sauntered into the elevator with San.
It did not take long before I reached the first floor, and stepping out, I came face to face with my annoying, egotistic brother.
Feigning a smile, I waved shortly at him and he returned my greeting with a smile.
“You’re going home?” His eyes travelled down to my bag with San
“Obviously,” I shrugged. “I’m done for today.”
Nicole nodded. He brushed a hand through his hair and sighed.
Right! He must be feeling a bit down knowing that his marriage has been set without him knowing his so-called wife.
Wait… Are we going through the same thing now? No! He’s the one getting married, I’m just going on a blind date.
I think there’s a huge difference between that.
“I heard about your blind date,” Nicole suddenly said.
I groaned. Grandpa doesn’t know when to keep shut.
Damn! Must he go around telling everyone that I’m going on a blind date?
A blind date that won’t work?
Nicole scoffed, a faint smile on his lips. “Grandpa doesn’t know you too well.”
“I guess he doesn’t,” I replied.
“Well then,” Nicole chuckled. “since grandpa wants you to get married so much, I’m wishing you… ”
“Do not wish me luck, please.” I mentally rolled my eyes.
Luck my dick! This is never gonna work out.
Not even in my dream!
Nicole chuckled. He placed his hand on my shoulder and smiled at me. “It’s only normal to wish you luck, Ethan. And I’m wishing you luck on your blind date tomorrow.”
I gritted my teeth, hands fisted beside me.
Such luck doesn’t exist, if anything, I’ll be the one to make it happen.
Nicole walked into the elevator.
“Be nice to your blind date, bro.”
“Just leave already,” I scowled. “And worry about your coming marriage.”
“Wish me luck then.” He smiled
“I’m wishing you all the world’s luck, asshole.” I mumbled the last part not enough for anyone to hear
“Well then, see you tomorrow.”
