Ethan’s POV
“Go faster, will you!” I yelled, punching the air with my fist, glaring at the driver who thought he’s trying his best.
His best? Fuck him. My kitten is in danger. She was fucking crying on the phone.
I dialed the number again but it kept on dropping.
Frustratedly, I hit my fist on the seat and cussed loudly.
What the fuck is going on? What if she’s been caught by those men that were chasing her?
I pulled on my hair hardly, my other hand fisted around the phone
Heck! I’m gonna kill anyone who hurt my kitten.
I quickly swiped to the receiver when my phone rang again
“Dawn…”
“Mr Ethan..”
“Fuck you, Lisa!” I hissed with indignation, cutting the call in the process.
How could she call me now! Now that I’m in this kind of situation.
I dialed my kitten’s number again and this time, it connected.
“Ethan..”
Kitten called mildly, her breathing was harsh like someone suffering from an attack.
“Kitten, are you okay?”
“They… They’re trying to… Please save .. save me”
I gritted my teeth, cussing silently. The word ‘ danger ‘ kept ringing in my ears.
Kitten is in danger!
“Relax..” I breathed out.
I suddenly wanted to protect her. I want to save her from those mutt just like that last time.
“Ethan..”
“Have a deep breath, Dawn… Call down. Breathe in and out!”
Kitten exhaled, but she made no attempt to inhale her fear. I can literally hear the thudding of her heart.
“I.. I can’t…” She breathed out. “Please…”
“Don’t cut the call,” I hissed. “Just follow my rhythm, will you. 1…. 2… 1… 2…”
Kitten inhaled sharply, trying to follow my rhythm.
God-damned it. She must be scared. I wish I had this kind of magic to disappear to her side.
“I’ll be there shortly. Just don’t cut the call!”
I quickly connected the call with Andre, my friend who picked at the third ring.
Fuck him. He doesn’t know when to be quick, does he?
“Heyyo! Buddy!”
“Find the location of that number I sent you!” I snapped at him.
“What.. wait..!” Andre stuttered, taken aback by the urgency in my voice
“Do it now, asshole!” I cussed
“Okay, fine, you don’t need to cuss”
And I’d punch him if necessary.
I heard the shuffling of feet, zipping of a zipper and I hissed.
Do not tell me he’s with a bitch this early today.
“Where?” I asked impatiently
Andre hissed. “Relax bro, do you.. ”
“Shut up and find the place!” I snapped
“Alright,”
I can imagine Andre’s face right now. Pretty annoyed and livid with anger.
I drummed my fingers impatiently on my laps, mentally cursing loudly. If anything should happen to my kitten, I swear that I’ll never spare anyone that’s involved.
” Starlight Mall…”
“What?” I growled.
What’s my kitten doing in that area.
“Are you listening to me, Ethan!” Andre snapped. “And who’re you looking for?”
I dropped the call, dropping my phone on the seat next to me, I glared at the driver.
“Starlight Mall!” I snapped. “And be fast!”
The drive was longer than I expected, and when the car pulled off, I hopped down the car and bolted into the Mall.
I called kitten’s number again and she picked it at the first ring.
“I am here,” I said. “Where in the room are you?”
“I don’t…. I don’t know…” Her voice trembled, and I can imagine her precious tears rolling down her face.
God-damned it. Who dares hurt my kitten?.
“Calm down, kitten,” a tongue over my lips as I ran a frustrated finger through my hair. “Look around you and tell me what you see”
There’s a moment of silence at the other end except for her harsh breath.
My hold on the phone tightened, breath hitched in my throat waiting for her answer.
“I know… I think it’s… The restroom. Please save me”
On hearing that, I cut the call and ran all the way to the counter.
I’ve never been here before, I mean why should I be?
“Oh my God,” a girl clapped a hand over her mouth on sighting me, her eyes glinting with delight.
Hey! I’m not here to be gushed over.
“Where is the female restroom?” I asked
She stared at me with cocked brows, “What?”
“Female restroom” I repeated.
I didn’t care how absurd or how stupid I looked, asking for the female bathroom.
I just wanna find my kitten and get her the fuck outta here.
Banging my fist on the table, I glared hard at the last before me who trembled in fear.
God-damned her! I’m not no nice, she should have cooperated when I was being nice.
“Lead the way, will you?” I hissed.
With trembling feet, the lady freed herself from the counter.
“Please follow me,” she mumbled.
She moved and I trailed closely behind her, hoping silently that my kitten is still safe.
“Can you walk more than this?” I almost snapped, my eyes boring a deep hole into her head
“We’re here”
Pushing her roughly out of the way, I kicked the door open and bolted in.
There’s no sight of my kitten. No! I didn’t see that girl with the long curly brown hair, I’m not seeing her emerald eyes in this godforsaken restroom either.
“Dawn!” I growled, hands fisted beside me as I turned to look at the lady who looked stupefied behind me. “Do you have….”
“Ethan… Ethan!”
A sigh of relief rippled from my chest and escaped through my lips.
I heard her voice. Kitten is here.
“Dawn!” I called again. My ears flared to catch his voice or even listen to her breath.
“Ethan… Ethan!”
I kicked the toilet door open and there lies my kitten curled up against the wall, her hair cascading down her chest as she looked up at me with her woozy teary eyes.
“Ethan…” A faint smile crept onto her lips, her eyes lighted up as she heaved a loud sigh.
What’s happened to her? Who hurt her?
Crouching before her, I cupped her cheeks with my palm.
“Are you okay?”
“Please, save me,”
I pulled her in my embrace, my arms wrapped tightly around her small body.
“I am here, kitten”
