ARIA’s POV
Gabriela’s screams pierced the air as she was dragged away, her eyes wild with fear and desperation. Matteo’s arms were around me, holding me back, but I couldn’t tear my gaze away from the scene. I knew She had become a danger to herself and others, and something had to be done.
But as I watched her being pulled into the car, her face contorted in a mixture of rage and terror, my heart went out to her. She was so lost, so broken. She needed our help, our support, not this brutal removal from our lives.
Matteo’s grip on me tightened as I struggled to break free, to run after the car and drag Gabriela back to us. But it was too late. The car sped away, leaving us standing in the driveway, feeling helpless and guilty.
“We had to do it, Aria,” Matteo whispered in my ear. “She needed professional help. We couldn’t handle her on our own anymore.” I knew he was right, but we had failed Gabriela, abandoned her in her time of need.
As we turned and walked back into the house, there was a heavy silence between us. Soon, everything around me began to blur and swirl. Matteo held me in his arms, but somehow, I started to lose consciousness in his arms.
As I slowly opened my eyes, the room came into focus, and I found myself in Matteo’s bed. There was a man in a white coat peering into my face. My heart raced as fear took hold, and I tried to sit up, but a gentle hand on my shoulder restrained me.
“Easy, easy, Aria. Be careful,” the doctor said softly.
I shook like a leaf, my eyes darting around the room for the door, and that was when I saw him – Matteo, standing beside me, his eyes shining with warmth and concern. His hands enveloped mine, and I felt a surge of comfort and safety.
As the doctor nodded and smiled, then turned and left the room, Matteo’s face lit up like a lamp. He couldn’t stop smiling, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
“My love, I guess we have to get another room ready.” He whispered, his voice trembling with emotion. He stroked my hair gently as he looked at me.
But my mind was still foggy. “W-what happened?” I stammered.
Matteo’s smile didn’t falter for a moment. He seemed genuinely happy. “We’re having a baby,”
“W-we???”. I asked, surprised.
“I’m so happy, Aria. You make me so happy”. He said, and then a kiss on my cheek followed.
As we lay on the bed, surrounded by soft sheets and warm sunlight, I couldn’t help but feel like I was in a dream. Matteo, the powerful mafia leader, was an excited and loving partner, his eyes shining with joy as we discussed the most important topic of our lives: our baby’s name.
His enthusiasm was infectious, and I found myself getting swept up in the excitement, our laughter and whispers filling the room. It was hard to believe that this was the same man who commanded respect and fear from those around him. With me, he was different. Softer, gentler, more vulnerable.
As we tossed around names, our hands touched, and I felt my cheeks redden under his gaze. Matteo’s face lit up as he suggested a name, his eyes sparkling with hope. “What do you think, Aria? Does it sound perfect to you?”
I smiled, my heart melting at his eagerness. “It’s beautiful, Matteo. Our baby will be lucky to have you as a father.”
His face softened, his gaze filling with adoration. “And they’ll be lucky to have you as a mother, Aria. You’re going to be amazing.”
As we continued to talk, our voices were barely above a whisper. I felt like I was seeing Matteo for the first time. The tough exterior, the commanding presence, all faded away, revealing a kind and loving soul.
In this moment, he was just a man, excited to start a family, to build a life with me. And I was just a woman, eager to create a home, to nurture our love and our child.
As we gathered around the dinner table, the atmosphere was lively and warm. My dad, Barone, Charles, and Ben were all chatting and laughing, enjoying each other’s company. Matteo took my hand, his eyes shining with excitement, and announced the news we had been waiting to share.
“Aria and I are having a baby!” he said, his voice filled with joy.
The room erupted in cheers, and congratulations. My dad beamed with pride, Charles and Ben grinned from ear to ear, and Matteo’s face glowed with happiness. I felt like I was radiating joy, my heart full of love and gratitude.
As we hugged and celebrated, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for this family, for the love and support they had always given me. And now, they were welcoming Matteo and our baby into the fold, with open arms and open hearts.
The dinner table was filled with laughter and stories, and our excitement and joy were huge. It was a night I would never forget, a night that would go down in history as one of the happiest moments of my life.
As Matteo’s arms enveloped me, I felt like I was home. The music swirled around us, a gentle melody that seemed to match the beat of our hearts. We swayed to the rhythm, our bodies moving in perfect harmony, like two souls entwined as one.
Matteo’s eyes gazed into mine, warm and loving, filled with a deep adoration that made my heart skip a beat. I felt like I was drowning in their depths, lost in the sea of his love. The father of my child, my husband, the love of my life.
I couldn’t help but think back to that day, the day he married me, the day that changed my life forever. It was the best decision I ever made. And now, here we were, surrounded by our loved ones and our baby growing inside me, a symbol of our love.
As we danced, the world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us, lost in our own little bubble of happiness. I felt like I was floating on air, my feet barely touching the ground, my heart soaring with joy.
Matteo’s hand cradled my face, his fingers tracing the contours of my cheeks, his touch sending shivers down my spine. I felt like I was melting into his embrace, becoming one with him, our love merging into one.
The music faded into the background, the noise of the party receding, leaving only the sound of our hearts beating as one. It was like time had stood still, and all that mattered was this moment, this perfect, precious moment.
And as we danced, locked in each other’s arms, surrounded by the people we loved, I knew that this was it. This was the moment that would stay with me forever. We were two souls entwined, bound together by a love that would last an eternity.
