CHAPTER 70
ROBERT’S POV
~ I wasn’t thinking clearly. An unquenchable rage filled every part of me, driving my thoughts and control. In a swift move, I grabbed the knife from the floor and aimed for her left breast where her heart lay, right where she had stabbed my grandpa twenty times. ~
Frank came from behind to restrain me just in time before the tip of the blade could connect with the woman’s chest.
Skillfully, like one trained to do so, he held my right arm where I held the blade and twisted my fingers a little in a way that made the blade fall off, and kicked it under the bed.
The woman’s eyes bulged, as though they were about to fall out from their sockets, her face etched with the terrific expression of someone watching their life flash before them. Paralyzed by fear, she gasped and panted like one having a panic attack. Instinctively, she began cowering back until she reached the edge of the bed without knowing and tumbled off, hitting the floor with a hard crash. She was very lucky. If not for Frank intervening, she would have been a lifeless corpse by now. And getting rid of her body won’t be a problem.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” I yelled at Frank, glaring at him with burning reproachful eyes like one possessed. “Why did you stop me from killing this bloody murderer? Can’t you see she’s the god-forsaken bitch that killed my grandpa and the reason I sent Lily to prison and almost got her a death penalty…?!”
My chest heaved uncontrollably from my vicious temper as I looked at Frank as if to rip him apart. He was the only thing standing between me and this bitch, preventing me from avenging my grandpa.
“Please calm down boss. This is not the way to go about this. You’re not a murderer. You have every right to be angry but please don’t let it cloud your judgement and make you do something you’ll only end up regretting. Trust me, you do not want someone else’s blood in your hands. As much as you feel killing her is the only way to make things right, you won’t feel the same after doing it.”
I growled at him, trying to break free from his grip, but his arms clung to me like unyielding octopus tentacles. I don’t get how expects me to be calm in this kind of situation. If he were in my shoes, surely he would have wanted to do more than just kill this bitch. Because of her and Scarlett, I lost my beloved grandpa and accused Lily falsely, of doing very horrible, unimaginable things to her.
“How then do you suggest we go about this?” I demanded, my voice, a mix of frustration, hurt and flaring anger as I stared at him in disbelief. “After what she’s done, how do you expect me to just stand here and do nothing?!”
“If you kill her, not only will you be landing yourself in jail and losing your company and everything you’ve worked hard for, we also won’t get all the information we need from her, and your family won’t know she was the one responsible for your grandpa’s murder and Lily won’t get the justice she deserves. Please think it through boss. Don’t end up making rash decisions because of anger. I’m not leaving you until you promise not to do anything we both will regret.” He said firmly.
Though I could give him a headbutt and easily manoeuver to free myself from his grip, I decided against it. It won’t be the best thing to do. After reflecting on his words, I realized he was right. As much as I wanted to be the one to take this bitch’s last breath and watch her die a slow painful death like my grandpa, killing her will create a lot of problems for me and my family and Lily won’t get the justice she deserves. But one way or the other, I will make sure she pays for what she did even if I have to destroy every inch of her life crack by crack.
“Fine, you can let go of me. I’m not going to hurt her,” I slashed out a sharp breath and tried to calm the storm of anger raging inside me as Frank cautiously let down his hands, freeing me from his grip.
While we were at it, the woman tried to take advantage of the distraction and make a run for it. But over my dead body would I allow her to escape without facing her punishment?
Swiftly, I yanked her by the hair to stop her from making it to the door. She screamed and struggled desperately to break free from my grip but her efforts meant nothing as I threw her back onto the bed with an unrelenting force. She thrashed wildly on the bed, trying to get up again, but I quickly straddled her, pinning and pressing her down with my weight. My legs anchored on either side of her, leaving her completely immobilized. I wasn’t one to resort to violence against women but she brought this upon herself and left me without a choice.
“Shut the fuck up or else I swear I’ll make you lose your tongue!!…” My harsh voice thundered down at her as I wrapped my fingers tightly around her throat to shut her up because her screams were driving me crazy, and the neighbours might hear her.
I heard her gulp loudly and felt the unsteady movement bob down her throat. Her eyes had reddened the more with her never-ending tears gushing out and extremely bulgy from fear and exhaustion. She managed a nod and with a barely audible and pathetic voice said,
“Please…let…go…You’re…killing…me…I…can’t…breathe…” she whimpered like a helpless animal under my weight. I found it satisfying to watch her suffer and beg for life because she deserved it.
“Oh…so now you’re one to beg for your life? When you were stabbing him multiple times in the heart and he begged you for his, tell me did you spare it?! Did you spare it you bloody bitch?!!” I threw the words at her like stones and she squeezed her tear-soaked eyes shut in fright.
“He…didn’t…beg…for…his…. life…He…wasn’t…afraid…of…dying…” she managed to say again in that pathetic voice.
“Shut up! Just shut the fuck up before I end you now!!…”
Just then, Frank started pulling off from her. “Boss please stop, you’re going to kill her…”
I resisted Frank, swinging my elbow back as it connected with the side of his face. I tightened my grip on the poor thing’s neck and she gasped desperately for air that was fast eluding her system, her skin turning scarlet red like a swollen tomato. I wanted to squeeze the living breath out of her and watch her die that slow painful death I wanted.
