CHAPTER 47- DREAM

Book:Divorced In Love Published:2025-2-8

AUTHOR’S POV
SYDNEY STARED AT HER SWOLLEN STOMACH in the six-foot-long mirror. A bright smile was plastered on her face as her thumb caressed her bare stomach.
” You’ll look just like your daddy, won’t you? Gavin said it’s unfair Ethan took my looks, but he has faith you’ll look just like him.” Sydney chuckled, her nose pink with joy.
The door began to open slightly, and Gavin shut his head into the room. He looked around inquisitively and when his eyes met his wife’s brown ones, he grinned and entered the room.
” Thought you’d be asleep, I didn’t want to wake you up.” He wrapped his hand around her waist from behind and kissed her cheek.
She looked at his reflection. ” How’s work? I heard Mr. Alejandro visited today.”
She turned to him with a concerned look. ” Mr. Alejandro is a stern man, he’d made many rich men’s business crumble, Gavin, whatever happened it’s not your fault-”
Gavin cut her off with a sharp kiss. He pulled away and laughed when she reddened.
” Worry doesn’t look good on you sweetheart.” Gavin walked to the balcony and she followed him.
” Gavin, you are making me worried, what did Alejandro say?”
” Nothing that should make you worried.” Gavin grinned as he looked at the glimmering street.
Sydney grew impatient.
Things have been going well for them lately and it gave her trepidation. There were bloodsuckers around the city looking for young men to devour. Alejandro wasn’t far from one of them.
” It’s not funny Gavin, you are making me worried. ” Sydney crossed her arm around her chest.
Gavin looked at her, his charming grin still on. ” Mr. Alejandro did visit today; I must admit, I was scared out of my socks seeing him, but what man can reject a good broker like me?”
” You are saying, he didn’t write your company off?”
” Oh no, baby, he didn’t. He offered me a contract worth five hundred f**king million dollars!”
Sydney’s eyes widened in shock. She took a step close to him with her mouth hung open.
Gavin continued proudly, ” That’s not all baby. He gave me a house, a smart house, and a car. It will be in our name. I’m going to give you the life you deserve, no more tears for us!”
Sydney shook her head and broke into a happy chuckle. ” Yes, no more tears!”
She pulled him into a hug. He would have squeezed he tightly and swirled her around if she wasn’t pregnant.
” I’m so proud of you.” Sydney pulled away and kissed him.
Her eyes filled. She couldn’t help it. She’d seen the way he went through hell just to put food on their table. Finally, it was ripping off!
Gavin cupped her cheek affectionately. ” This wouldn’t have happened if I never married you. You are a blessing Sydney.”
She held his cheek. ” It’s your hard work Gavin, not mine.”
” You were my motivation and you still are.”
” Don’t make me cry, Gavin.” Sydney smiled while Gavin laughed. A glint of hope rose in Sydney’s eyes. ” Does this mean I can get a job or go to college now?”
Gavin’s laughter ceased immediately, and he took his hand off her cheek.
Sydney chuckled, ” I’d finally get to be a college girl like you wanted me to be. Won’t I look good working in a large firm? Maybe my dad would finally see me as his daughter.”
Gavin stared at her in silence while wearing a frown.
When Sydney saw his clenched fists her smile fell off her face.
” Gavin I said I can finally go to college! Remember you said when you get rich, you’ll let me go to college.”
Silence.
” Gavin… baby, you aren’t saying anything.”
Why was he so quiet? He’d been fine with her going to college up till this moment.
A bleak smile grazed Gavin’s lips as he said. ” Yes … college. But, you are pregnant now.”
Sydney wrapped her hands around his neck and said. ” I’ve seen pregnant women go to college. Mark’s wife was eight months pregnant and still went to college.”
” She almost died, Sydney; it was by the grace of God she survived.”
” Aren’t we all alive by grace?”.
” You know that’s not my point. I’m not ready to lose you and my baby.” And all he’d labored for.
Sydney stared at him. She sighed meekly. ” Okay, fine. When I put to bed.”
Gavin didn’t look satisfied.
Sydney felt bad for ruining his cheerful mood. She stood on her toes and pressed her lips on his, sending fire round his body.
Despite Gavin being in a foul mood, he couldn’t resist his s**y wife.
His lips sucked her luscious ones with a burning intensity causing her to moan loudly.
As if the baby caught her parents being naughty, she kicked. Sydney winced slightly and laughed.
” I think the baby doesn’t want to experience us doing mummy and Daddy business,” Sydney mumbled on Gavin’s lips.
Gavin grabbed Sydney’s a** and squeezed teasingly. ” I think she wants us to get to the best part.”
She opened her mouth to speak; Gavin used the chance to slide his tongue into her mouth, making her groan. She held his head and pushed him impossibly closer to her.
Gavin grabbed her up, his mouth not peeling from hers as he took her to the room and laid her on the bed.
Sydney’s breath hitched as he sucked her neck. ” Gavin … the baby.”
” Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle.”
Slowly, Gavin stripped her of her clothing. He hovered above her, and the tip of his tongue slowly trailed down her cheeks to the smooth curve of her breasts.
Sydney’s moans filled the room as her husband took her in his mouth. Sucking. Squeezing. Biting and Driving her wild like he always did.
Yet, she felt an ache around her body like he wasn’t there.
Her face squeezed and her hand moved to her breasts. It wasn’t bare. It wasn’t wet with saliva. It was covered, shielded, and protected.
Then it came crawling to her…
Sydney’s eyes popped open. She quickly sat up just to see Gabriel standing by the kitchen door staring at her with dark eyes.
Sydney quickly took her hands off her breasts; she didn’t realize she was still holding them.
Gabriel cleared his throat and walked to her. ” Um… That’s quite a dream you were having.”
” I… Um… What time is it?” Sydney stuttered as she got out of the couch.
She felt the ache in her body grew by the second. Not just an ache for s! x, she’d almost forgotten how it felt to be loved by someone.
Why did the past turn up in her dream? Was this a bid to make her weak again?
” Er, I’m not sure, maybe six or seven.”
” What! How did I sleep that long? My kids would be worried.”
” I’ll uh… drop you off.” Gabriel offered.
” No, it’s fine. I’ll hail a cab, you’ve done enough for me.”
And he’d love to do more.
Gabriel didn’t push. ” Okay, but you’d have to walk some miles before you reach the road, and creatures are prying in these parts.”
Sydney didn’t even feel like leaving, she couldn’t remember when she slept so long.
” I’ll ride you to the road then you can find your way home.”
Sydney nodded gratefully. ” Thank you. I um… I’m sorry you had to see all that.” She gestured to the couch she was lying on.
” It’s fine. Let’s go.”
Gabriel felt ants crawling in his chest as he drove Sydney to the road.
Her hands that once held her breasts held his chest and her body pressed on his back was enough to drive him crazy.
Minutes later, Sydney was smiling and waving at Gabriel before entering the cab. She looked at the rear mirror and saw him looking at her with a look of yearning.
Her shoulder slumped. What man who hadn’t had s! x for over five years would be happy seeing a woman holding herself and moaning?
Sydney felt like burying herself in the ground. Once again, she’d embarrassed herself in front of him.
Poor Gabriel.
Hours later, Sydney arrived at her home. The chagrin she had left behind when leaving the house earlier returned double, especially knowing Gavin would be home.
Dissolving her anxiety, Sydney pressed her thumb on the fingerprint scanner- Gavin eventually granted back access to the house.
As soon as Sydney stepped into the house, she had cataplexy.
