20. You’re My One And Only

I could barely wrap my head around the fact that I had blurted out my feelings to Alex in a moment of weakness. The man pushed all my buttons and I ended up making a fool of myself.
I followed him into the packhouse, up the stairs, and was only mildly surprised when we didn’t stop at the second floor, where my room was. Instead, we went to the fifth floor the alpha’s floor.
He led me through a hallway, and we only stopped at a wooden door that seemed to divide the floor in two sections.
“This is my personal wing,” he announced matter-of-factly. He opened the door and I found myself staring at a spacious living room that was elegantly decorated.
No sooner had he closed the door did we hear heels clinking on the floor.
I stiffened at once and saw from the corner of my eyes that Alex sported a scowl.
I heard her scathing remark before I even saw her, “Did you really have to entertain that child all night long, Xander?”
I knew Myra must be talking about me. Who else had he had glued to his side after all? I couldn’t help the ire I felt at that.
“Who are you calling a child, bitch?” I growled at her.
Alex looked at me, and there was surprise in his eyes.
Before I could storm out of there, he cupped my face and said in wonder, “Your eyes are black, love. Your wolf is surfacing.”
I let out a noncommittal sound in response, and slapped off his hands. “It looks like you have company, alpha. I’ll be taking my leave.”
“Move an inch, I dare you,” he growled at me.
At that moment, Myra sauntered into the living room from what I assumed was the bedroom, in nothing but a provocative burgundy babydoll.
I watched Alex’s reaction like a hawk and he merely rolled his eyes at her.
“Who gave you the permission to enter my wing, Myra?” He let out in an icy tone. I saw the smile fall off her face. “See yourself out before I make you leave in the most embarrassing manner.”
“Xander,” she let out in a whining tone. “You don’t really think that.”
He closed his eyes as if to calm himself, and then said in a no-nonsense tone, “If I have to tell you to call me alpha one more time, you won’t like the consequences.”
She batted her eyelashes as if to blink back tears and then said, “Fine. I’ll leave if she leaves.”
I raised an eyebrow at her at that.
“She’s staying but you’re leaving,” he announced matter-of-factly.
Soon enough, there was a knock at the door behind us and he let out a dispassionate come in.
Luc, Alex’s beta, entered at once. A quick look around must have been enough for him to understand what was needed of him.
“Let’s go,” he told Myra as he grabbed her wrist and began to drag her in the direction of the door.
“You can’t do this to me,” she shrieked, her cheeks tinted with red.
She was no match for the beta and thus stumbled forward no matter how much she struggled against his hold.
“I’ll fucking skin you alive the next time I see you, bitch.”
“Do your best,” I told her indifferently. “Beta Luc, can you stop for a moment?” I then asked.
He halted in his steps at once. Alex watched me as I confidently walked into the bedroom, and came back with a robe of the same color as her babydoll.
I tossed it at the she-wolf and told her with disgust, “I’d rather not see any of your belongings around.”
Luc snickered for a moment while Alex’s deep penetrating gaze burned and branded me.
She was even more furious if that was possible.
“You…” she spluttered in a rage-filled tone. “Who do you think you are?”
I walked back to Alex’s side, trailed a finger down his chest seductively while looking at him through hooded eyes, “I’m the one the alpha fancies. Right, Alex?”
His arm brought me flush against his front. His hand tugged at my hair softly so that I’d look him in the eyes, and he growled his response, “You’re my one and only.”
And then his head dipped and he claimed my lips in a searing kiss.
“And that my lady is our cue to leave,” Luc let out almost jokingly as he no doubt dragged Myra out of the alpha’s wing.
I moaned into the kiss, feeling myself get lost into it. Alex growled in response. The kiss was so passionate, it left me light-headed. When he started trailing open-mouthed kiss down my neck, I was a goner and I started mewling his name loudly.
Then, he stopped abruptly and told me in a husky tone, “Let me just lock the door, love.”
I nodded almost unconsciously. And within seconds, his eyes were focused on me again. The burning desire I saw in their depths would have no doubt startled me if I didn’t feel the exact same for him.
Then, as I remembered how I acted like a possessive mate, I couldn’t help but get flustered.
“I’m sorry I got carried away,” I told him sheepishly. “I was just…”
“Jealous,” he supplied with a nod, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
My blush burned my cheeks. “No… I…”
“Don’t deny it, love,” he breathed out softly. “Allow me this satisfaction.”
It sounded almost like a plea and I found myself hanging my head down in shame. Then, he swept me off my feet and walked into his bedroom which I had barely looked at earlier. It was spacious to say the least. The creme walls were empty save for a painting above the bed’s headrest.
He placed me in a sitting position on the edge of the king size bed, and then said softly, “Never doubt my feelings for you, Jade.”
I merely nodded at him in response, not knowing what to say to that.
For the first time since our entanglement began, I could see something akin to adoration in his eyes. and it totally blew my mind away.
