To say it was hell wouldn’t cover the half of what became of my life.
Dad, mom, beta Luc, and even alpha Alexander were now taking turns to ensure I had eyes on me at all time. I stayed in the packhouse where I studied for my final year of high school. I secretly wished for a taste of normal life, and I got some of it, thanks to Tyler’s tutoring sessions.
Tyler was shy despite being a warrior, but I somehow managed to get him out of his shell.
We were in the spacious living room, seated at the large table, studying diligently, when Eli stopped next to the table.
“There’s a bonfire tonight,” he announced in an excited tone, “Care to join us, Jade?”
Yes, surprisingly, Eli and I had become friends over the course of the past two weeks.
“Who’s us?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Us as in the entire school,” he deadpanned.
“I’d love to but I’m not sure I can,” I let out on a sigh of dismay, while shooting a pointed look at Alexander’s office door.
“Ask the alpha for a special permission or something,” he winked. “Surely, you’re allowed to breathe a little.”
“It sure doesn’t seem like it,” I pouted.
“Come on,” Luc appeared from the kitchen, holding a sandwich, “it’s not so bad, Jade.”
“Isn’t it?” I taunted, shaking my head, making him frown.
“I feel trapped in my own skin, and worse than I have ever felt in my lifetime.”
“Jade,” he let out in a soft tone. “We do not mean to make you feel that way. But we cannot take risks with the werewolf community finding out…”
“Luc,” the alpha’s voice reached us in a deep rumble.
“I’m sorry,” Luc was quick to say as he let a pack member pass. “Me and my big mouth.”
“Jade,” he then called for my name.
“Yes, alpha.” I answered his call wearily.
“A word,” he told me.
I looked at Tyler with a pout, and as I rose to my feet, Eli waved at me while whispering, “Try to convince him.”
I went to the alpha’s office, and stood at attention, staring ahead of me, hands behind my back.
“What’s this I hear about you feeling trapped?” He asked in a soft tone as his green orbs bore into my eyes.
“It’s the truth, alpha,” I let out petulantly.
I had been avoiding alone time with the alpha because I didn’t trust myself around the man. He was bad for my sanity and peace of mind.
Even now, I found it difficult to breathe, for his cologne was simply divine.
“Call me alpha one more time, and you won’t like your punishment, Jade,” he deadpanned, his eyes flickering between green and black for some reason.
“I didn’t mean to anger you,” I hurried to say.
“You’ve been avoiding me,” he then stated without preamble.
“Who am I to avoid you, alpha? It’s just that if I had to choose between your company and Tyler’s or Eli’s, I’d choose them.”
“Really now?” He growled at me, the deep sound making me wish for something forbidden.
The conversation was getting out of hand, and I somehow reveled in his reaction. It went to show that I wasn’t the only one affected. He wouldn’t have noticed that I was avoiding him otherwise, would he?
He grabbed my wrist, and in one swift move, had me pinned against the wall, face first.
I could feel his body warmth against my back without having him pressing into me.
“Alpha,” I let out breathlessly.
“What did I say about calling me anything other than my name?” He growled in my ear, making me flush with embarrassment.
“I’m sorry, Alex,” I told him softly. “It won’t happen again.”
He fisted his hand in my hair and tilted my head back. It should have felt painful and maybe even degrading… but I was, to my utter and complete shame, aroused by the gesture.
“You’ve been avoiding me, and even went as far as to admit you’d rather have some other boy’s company than my own,” he growled again, and then nipped at my neck. I moaned in response. “You and Tyler better be studying or sparring, and not fooling around, or so help me god, you won’t like the consequences.”
“Alex,” I let out breathlessly and closed my eyes from the arousal coursing through my veins.
“I don’t share,” he then growled and released my hair, only to sneak his hands forward and grab my breasts.
He squeezed and pulled me back against him, making me a mumbling mess. I felt the evidence of his desire poking at my behind, and that further spurred my mewling.
And then, he spun me around, and his lips captured mine in a searing kiss… I was a goner.
We just definitely crossed an unspeakable boundary.
Did I care?
Definitely, but only because I had been driven mad with wild ideas of me and him, and it was just about time I got some of my fantasies fulfilled.
“Alex,” I said his name again, even as his black eyes looked at me with primal desire in them.
“Yes, Jade?”
“Take me,” I told him as I bit on bottom lip.
He kissed me again ravenously, and then said against my lips, “My office is hardly the best place, love.”
“You’ve ignited a fire within me. Take responsibility,” I retorted cheekily.
He chuckled at that and placed a kiss on my forehead.
“You should go finish your tutoring session with Tyler, and then go get ready. We’ll go to the bonfire together,” he announced.
My eyes lit up at the mention of the bonfire.
And then, it dawned on me what he last said. “Together?” I echoed after him incredulously.
“Yes, together,” he confirmed.
