Just as One Eye was about to act, Lucas raised his hand to stop him. “That’s enough,” he said firmly.
One Eye immediately halted, stepping back and sheathing the blade. The woman let out a shaky breath, overwhelmed with relief, realizing that Lucas had spared her at the last moment.
The tension in the room eased, and everyone understood the power and mercy Lucas wielded, leaving a lasting impression on all present. Greg, still observing, couldn’t shake off the feeling that there was more to Lucas than met the eye, and he wondered what secrets lay beneath his calm exterior.
Lucas walked out of the hall, Greg and One Eye followed him, ignoring the stares from the crowd. Lucas discreetly tucked away the ring he planned to use when proposing to Victoria. Greg parted ways with them, but before leaving, Lucas asked him to join him again the next day. Lucas then drove back to the villa of the wealthiest man in Italy after dropping One Eye at their headquarters, planning to bring him along again tomorrow.
When Lucas arrived at the villa, it was already evening. The villa’s door opened as Victoria spotted Lucas’s car, a bit puzzled by the older model he was driving. She wondered if something had happened to her husband’s company and couldn’t help but ask. Lucas walked towards her with a smile, and Victoria, smiling back from the villa’s entrance, immediately asked as he approached.
“Why are you driving such an old car?” Victoria inquired.
Lucas grinned, “I just wanted to keep a low profile.”
Victoria glanced at Lucas’s attire, realizing it was quite inexpensive. She smiled playfully, “Is your company going bankrupt?”
Lucas chuckled, “Why would it? The company is expanding.”
“Good to hear,” Victoria replied with a smile. Then she noticed what Lucas was holding. “What’s that?” she asked.
Lucas smiled and raised the item. “It’s an exquisite tea known as ‘Eternal Spring’ that I won at the auction,” he said with a grin. “Let’s go inside; I’ll give it to Mom and Dad. I’m sure they’ll love it.”
Victoria nodded, and the two of them entered the villa together.
Inside, Xavier and Vivian were in the living room, each engaged in their activities. Xavier was reading the newspaper, while Vivian was sewing clothes for Victoria’s future child. When they saw Lucas, they greeted him warmly. Xavier couldn’t help but notice Lucas’s inexpensive attire and curiously asked, “Why are you dressed like that?”
Lucas smiled, “Dad, I went to an auction and didn’t want to draw attention, but something unexpected happened.” He then handed over the Eternal Spring tea.
Xavier was surprised and impressed, “Eternal Spring tea! This is incredibly rare and difficult to produce due to the unique climate and conditions required for its cultivation. It’s said that only a handful of regions in the world can grow it, making it extremely limited in availability.”
Vivian approached to take a closer look, equally amazed. “This tea has a rich history,” she added. “It was once reserved for ancient kings and queens, a true delicacy of the royal courts. The health benefits are remarkable-it’s known to boost immunity, improve digestion, and even enhance mental clarity.”
Xavier nodded, “Yes, and it’s also believed to have anti-aging properties and can help reduce stress. The process of making this tea is an art in itself, passed down through generations, ensuring its quality and authenticity.”
“Thank you, Lucas,” Vivian said, clearly touched by the thoughtful gift.
“Let’s eat so we can try the tea,” Victoria suggested with a smile, seeing her parents’ excitement and happiness. She led everyone to the kitchen.
….
…
The following morning, after bidding farewell to Victoria and saying he was heading to work, Lucas made his way to their secret base to pick up One Eye and switch his car. He opted for his sleek sports car, and together they headed to a golf field where Greg was waiting, as Lucas had instructed him.
After a short drive, they arrived at the prestigious “Emerald Greens Golf Club,” known for its lush landscapes and exclusive membership. The course was renowned for its challenging holes and serene environment, making it a favorite among the elite.
Greg was taken aback when he saw the sports car pull up, and even more so when Lucas and One Eye stepped out. Approaching them, Greg asked, “Is that your car, Lucas?”
Lucas nodded casually, “Yeah, it is. Let’s head inside and wait for our target.” He led the way, with Greg still in awe, noticing that Lucas’s attire was far from simple. It was clear that his clothes were custom-made and expensive.
As they walked, Greg couldn’t help but comment, “You look different today, Lucas. What’s the occasion?”
Lucas smirked, “Just blending in with the crowd here. We need to talk about Roger.”
Roger’s got deep ties with the Sicilian Familia. He’s a businessman like Greg, he also like Tyrone, he accepted their protection in exchange for shares. Eventually, they did to him what Costa Familia did to Tyrone. Roger’s become their middleman for some shady dealings.
Greg nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.
“I have some information, but it’s not enough,” Lucas started. “That’s why I need you, Greg. You’re close to him, and you both often play golf here.”
Greg agreed, “Roger’s current business ventures are quite extensive. He’s involved in several industries, but his connections with the Sicilian Familia make him untouchable in some circles.”
Lucas outlined the plan, “We’ll play it like this: you’ll introduce me to Roger as a new business partner, and One Eye will be my assistant. We need to get close to him.”
As they reached the expansive field, they scanned the area. Greg noted, “I don’t see Roger yet.”
Lucas nodded, “Let’s play a few rounds while we wait for our target.”
With that, they picked up their clubs and began a casual game, keeping an eye out for Roger’s arrival, knowing that this meeting could be pivotal for their plans.
As they played a few rounds of golf, Lucas and Greg kept a vigilant eye on the entrance to the field. At that moment, they spotted an older man in his 50s, a cigar perched between his lips, walking onto the field. He was flanked by two women, each holding onto his waist as they strolled in.
Lucas and Greg exchanged knowing glances and nodded simultaneously. The man who had just arrived was none other than Roger, the very person they were there to meet.
