CHAPTER 52 WHAT’S GOING ON

Book:FORBIDDEN LOVE Published:2025-2-8

“Wait, what do you mean your son isn’t your son?” I ask Niall, who lets out a sigh.
“If he were really mine, he wouldn’t cry when I give him a golf club toy,” he shrugs. “You know how passionate I am about golf; it’s hard to believe my son isn’t into it too.” He shakes his head, and I can’t help but roll my eyes and laugh.
“Niall, he’s just three months old,” I respond, frowning. “Just because he doesn’t like golf yet doesn’t mean he isn’t your son. He has your genes; it’s already been proven.” I raise my eyebrows, and he glances at Logan with another sigh.
The little guy looks back at us with confusion in his aqua blue eyes.
“Okay, you little guy, I hope you stay quiet all night because if you start crying, your uncle Alex and I will be crying too,” Niall tells him, cradling him in his arms. “Thanks for joining me on this, Alex.”
I shrug in response. “It’s my first night with Logan and I plan to make the most of it,” he adds with a sigh.
“I owe you a lot,” I say, grabbing a beer from the fridge.
“Can I have one?” Niall asks, and I nod, handing him another as I sit down next to him. I turn on the TV and catch the NBA game.
I can’t help but wonder about my little girl. She mentioned having a literature tutoring session with a boy in her group who’s quite impressive. I wasn’t on board at first, but I eventually relented because if it’s what’s best for her grades, then so be it.
And I know she loves me; there’s no way she would cheat on me, right?
I can’t shake the overwhelming urge, need to be with her right now-hugging her, kissing her, touching her, fucking her, everything.
“I love her, you know?” I say, glancing at Niall.
“Who are you talking about?” he asks.
“Nina. I love her,” I reiterate.
Niall whispers back, “I just can’t help but think she’s eight years younger than you, and typically, girls only go for older men for the money.” He comments, and I shake my head.
“Do you know what I see? The embodiment of love, beauty, and desire,” I respond, clearly. “Nina fits her name perfectly; there’s no better name for her.” I take a sip of my beer. “Sure, she’s young, but…” I trail off with a sigh as Niall rolls his eyes.
“What about Grace?” he inquires, and I groan in frustration.
“Don’t remind me of her,” I reply, shaking my head. He raises his eyebrows, and I finish my beer before getting up for another.
“When are you going to tell Nina?” he asks as I take a sip from my new drink. I pause to think.
“Whenever it feels right,” I answer simply, and he raises his eyebrows. “Anyway, have you seen the guys? I miss their nonsense,” I say with a laugh as he shakes his head.
“Louis and Landon are in town, but I haven’t heard from Jack or mason,” he replies nonchalantly.
“What about Adam? Heard anything from him?” I ask, and he shakes his head.
“You know he shows up when there’s a party with tons of women,” he laughs. “Maybe we should throw a big party for your birthday,” he suggests, but I shake my head.
“C’mon, you can’t spend the entire day with Nina; don’t be dull. It’ll be like a high school reunion!” he encourages, and I sigh heavily.
“I need to talk to Nina. But no strippers or anything,” I clarify, and Niall rolls his eyes.
“Fine, I’ll plan it and invite everyone,” he says, raising his eyebrows. “It’ll be epic. You can even ask your little one to join us,” he jokes, and I arch an eyebrow.
“You mean my girlfriend?” I ask, and he raises his eyebrows back at me. “Oh, I forgot to mention we’ve been officially dating since Paris,” I smile, and he wipes the grin off his face.
“Have you asked her to be your girlfriend?” he inquires.
I nod. “In the classic high school way?” he laughs, and I nod again. “What the hell, are you serious?”
“Niall,” I sigh, “this has been serious from the start.” He shakes his head.
“You once mentioned you’d just enter high school to hook up with a teacher or two, never that you’d want a relationship,” he says with a frown. “Sex is great, but a relationship?”
“Sex is amazing,” I clarify, “but come on, Niall, we’re 25. We can’t just stick to hookups for our entire lives.” He makes a face.
“Do you even realize the slim chance your relationship with Nina is stable?” he asks, and I roll my eyes. “Please don’t imagine you two at the altar or anything.”
The thought doesn’t actually sound too bad.
“Okay,” I say, looking at the TV.
What would Nina be like as my wife? Would our kids look like her or have my brown hair? Perhaps if we have two, one could be blonde with honey-colored eyes, the other with brown hair and brown eyes-or maybe one could be blonde with brown eyes and the other brown with honey eyes, a blend of both.
One thing’s for sure: if we ever have kids, if it’s a girl, she’ll be the most stunning girl ever, my absolute darling. If it’s a boy, he’ll be a heartthrob.
I smirk, feeling my phone vibrate with a call from an unknown number along with a sound of my doorbell ringing. I frown and look at Niall, who shrugs. I answer.
*Phone call*
“Mr. Gray, hello, this is Emily,” she says quickly. “Nina and I are outside your house, and it’s really important that you open the door… please.”
*End Phone Call*
I get up to check the camera and instantly open the door. Seeing them both standing there, I look at Niall, puzzled.
“What’s going on?”
