CHAPTER 17 QUIT

Book:FORBIDDEN LOVE Published:2025-2-8

I feel Alex’s hand resting on my waist, his left leg entwined with mine, and I chuckle at the sound of his soft snores. I gently stroke his hand before he shifts to pull me closer, resting his face against my neck. He lets out a quiet moan and snores again, making me sigh contentedly. Having him so close is comforting; I could easily drift off next to him. Then, he kisses my neck lightly, prompting a soft moan from me, followed by a kiss on my cheek.
“Good morning, baby,” he whispers, which makes me smile as I turn to look at him. “Wow, I have another week with you; I hadn’t realized,” he continues, and I grin. “You know, I hope this becomes a routine,” he says affectionately, making me scrunch my nose at him.
“What do you mean?” I ask as he kisses my forehead.
“Sharing a bed every Saturday,” he murmurs, which makes me laugh. He leans in to kiss me, and I kiss him back, but when he tries to remove my panties, I pull away.
“No, DADDY, I get really tired,” I say, and he makes a pouty face while I playfully roll my eyes. We both get up, and I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth with the toothbrush he bought for me.
When Alex first visited my place, he noticed all my hygiene products-shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, cream, and perfume. He even set aside a drawer in his bathroom for me. He offered me space in his drawers for my clothes, but since I often stay over, I didn’t want to take up room.
As I walk downstairs, I find Alex cooking as usual, and I always cherish my time with him; he’s the most interesting person I know. Plus, he’s always willing to share his bed with me, no matter the time or place. He serves me a delicious plate of instant lasagna, which I love, along with a glass of tutti-frutti juice. I start eating while he sits down to join me.
“I’m going to quit,” he suddenly announces, making me almost choke on my food. He comes over to gently pat my back and hands me the juice to help me swallow. As we talk, I ask him why he chose to be a teacher given that the pay isn’t great.
“It’s not about the money,” he clarifies. “I have a vision, and teaching helps me pursue it.” I nod thoughtfully.
“Have you ever found teaching boring?”
“Oh my God, no! I love teaching!” he replies, sounding a bit offended, and I frown. “But my goals are bigger than just my love for teaching.”
“It’s about the money, right? I understand if you downplay it to avoid seeming greedy,” I say, and he laughs.
“Not at all, babe. That’s what the company is for,” he chuckles, which piques my curiosity.
“What company?” I ask, and he blinks in confusion.
“Huh?”
“What company are you talking about?” I repeat, and he laughs.
“It’s just a joke, love,” he explains, while I raise my eyebrows at him. “Isn’t that what companies are for? My uncle always says that.” He chuckles again, and I nod, feeling a bit puzzled as I continue eating.
“Why do I get the sense you’re hiding something from me?” I ask cautiously, but he shakes his head and laughs. He finishes his meal, stands up, and wraps his arms around my waist. I swallow the lasagna I was chewing and look up at him.
“Just be honest with me, Alex,” I plead, lightly brushing his hair back as he smiles. “Please,” I whisper before leaning in for a kiss, which he returns before pulling away with a sigh.
“Get dressed; we’re going out,” he whispers while clearing the plates. I take a deep breath and head to the bedroom.
I quickly change into some simple shorts and a white Rolling Stones shirt, put on my shoes, and give my hair a quick brush. Alex walks in, dressed in black pants, a white shirt, and a black jacket, finishing off his look with a navy tie. My lips part as I tilt my head.
“Why the suit?” I ask, and he responds with a faint smile as he buttons his jacket.
“You’ll see,” he says softly, and I nod.
He approaches me, lifts me up, and kisses me, which I eagerly return.
“You look amazing in a suit,” I whisper, and he smiles, playfully biting my lower lip and causing a soft moan to escape me.
“Let’s go,” he says, and I agree. I grab my phone, wallet, and car keys, and we head out together.
Once in the car, Alex drives off and there’s a moment of silence before he asks, “Nina, did you know that certain things about someone can change how others see them?”
“Why do you ask?” I respond, intrigued as he licks his lips.
“If I had an old car or a tiny one-room house, what would your impression be of me?” he questions, making me laugh.
“Actually, that’s how I pictured you!” I giggle, and he smiles. “But really, Alex, that’s a silly thing to worry about. I wouldn’t care if you had no car or struggled to pay rent; that’s not important to me,” I assure him, and he smiles back.
“What’s this all about?” I ask as he parks.
