Book:Sleeping With My Step Uncle Published:2025-2-8

CHRISTIAN
the first event out of the three days was an auction. Because it was an impromptu party, I didn’t have the time to bring an item that could be valued, but I was willing to help by buying something.
“So this is a ticket to a romcom, not also grande but it’s worth it. If you have a partner you’d like to watch a romance comedy with, you can get this” the lady on stage said.
I forgot what her name was but she has been the one leading the auction.
“This ticket is going for ten dollars”
“Eleven” someone yelled.
“Twenty ” another person yelled.
This is was a party filled with hot blooded businessmen and business women that did not know what loosing felt like and they were literally competing with everyone and everything.
“Thirty ” another person yelled.
“Oh my, do I hear thirty five?”
“Thirty three ”
“Forty five ”
“Do I hear forty seven?”
There was no reply.
“Sold, to gentleman in at table nineteen”
I took a sip of the drink in front of me. As I looked around, I caught some few women staring at me, I didn’t mind their eyes.
“The next item is an author’s signed copy of the jewel and the thief… It’s going to seven thousand dollars”
“Thirteen thousand”
I was reeling on the inside, the meeting was going to end soon and I could not stay another without seeing or talking to Jenna.
She had sent me a picture of her Kylee watching TV. They looked so cute together.
“The last item here is a charm bracelet. It is rumoured to foster an unbreakable bond between partners if they wear it. They’re two pieces and they’re priceless, but we have to raise some money… So it’s going for one thousand dollars”
It was the last item and it caught my attention, unbreakable bond huh? It was tempting, a charm bracelet. Before I could speak up, these other hungry lions started coughing up amounts of money, I guess I was going to power their pays.
“Three thousand”
“Five thousand”
“Eight thousand”
“Eleven thousand dollars ” someone yelled.
“Thirty thousand ” I said, immediately the words left my mouth, all the heads turned to stare at me.
“Oh my, Mr Christian ” the lady on stage said and she fanned her face with her hands as if she was under intense heat.
“So I hear thirty two thousand dollars?”
“Thirty five ” someone said.
Some people gasped and murmurs sprouted.
I turned to Adeline, she was staring at me intensely and the corners of her lips flew upwards.
“Fifty thousand” I said to the lady on stage.
“Fifty two thousand” Adeline shot back.
“Sixty thousand”
People were staring, waiting for her to speak and j was sure they were also staring because I was the boss, her boss and she was having an auction fight with me. I wanted this and I would get it.
The reporters and journalists that were in attendance flashed their cameras.
“Do I hear sixty two thousand?”
Adeline was quiet.
“Sold to Mr Christian Alexander for sixty thousand dollars ”
The crowed cheered and I was glad the entire thing was over already, but then a woman ran up on stage frantically and grabbed the microphone.
“Mr Alexander, is it true that you’re now in relationship?”
A security man grabbed her from behind and took her down. It was as if she had given the reporters motivation and courage. They flung up.
“There are rumours that you’re in a relationship now with a miss Jenna”
This was not good at all.
It was not good. I wanted to stand up and get away, I wanted to escape without denying or accepting, but these reporter’s were all over me, I couldn’t get past them without pushing them aside. That could cause drama if I ended up causing any injuries.
“Of course he’s not in a relationship” a voice boomed from the stage, a voice I knew too well. Mr Cooper, he was my rival, we’ve been clawing each other financially and emotionally from the beginning of time.
He was a middle aged man that had succeed his company from his father. He saw me as an opponent but to me he was not a worthy opponent, he was handed everything while I had to build mine from nothing.
“Or is he?”
I raised a brow at him, was he invited at all?
“Well, Mr Christian, please if you don’t mind I would like to make you the last item to be auctioned off and you wouldn’t got for a price, I mean we would all have gather the wealth of the entire country and we wouldn’t even be able to buy you off then”
Everybody laughed but I knew that his plan was nothing but savage.
“So Mr Christian Alexander, going….”
“I’ll take him!” Adeline shouted cutting Mr Cooper off.
“Hold your horses Miss…” Cooper said with a laugh and shake of his head.
“The lucky person takes him by the rate of success they’ve accomplish this year. And, I always prepared, I took my time and asked his staff for a legal favour, they assembled the statistics of every female worker here and male in case Mr Alexander goes both ways” he said and everyone laughed again, at the fact that I might be gay.
“The winner is miss Lacey ”
Who the fuck was Lacey?!
“Miss Lacey, please come on stage…”
A blondie catwalked up stage and she smiled at me.
“Miss Lacey took the company of Mr Christian a step forward in this area and he has to say yes to this… He can’t say no. She was just employed in January and she’s done more than any employee in this area. So what do you say Mr Christian, a date with Mrs Lacey or not”
I stood up.
The reporter backed away but their cameras were rolling.
“He’ll say no, he’s dating his step niece” one reporter said.
“Yeah, if he says no, it’s confirmation ” another replied, they didn’t know I had heard them.
Would Jenna like the negative spotlight, the rolling that would come after this, would she be able to stand it. Would she be angry if I claimed in front of everyone. She’s mine, she’s mine, we’re engaged.
“Christian, everyone’s saliva is dropping on the laps because their mouths are held open, waiting for your response”
I sighed, I was tied.
I looked at Lacey, there must be a way for me to dodge her later, but for now, I would do what is right for Jenna’s reputation.
“Fine. I’ll go on a date with her”
Mr Cooper looked contened and displeased at the same time whilst Lacey jumped and cried as if she just won the lottery.
