Chapter Thirty Four.

Book:CEO EX-HUSBAND REGRET Published:2025-2-8

Mirabelle’s POV:
Kneeling before me, he asked. “You only do something this crazy when someone gets you really angry or sad. So tell me, what happened while I was away?”
“N-nothing happened,” I replied, forcing out a smile.
“You don’t have to lie to me; just tell me what happened while I was away.” He insisted.
How the hell do I tell him that I bailed out Ken from prison? What if he gets upset?
I mean, he has always been supportive, but this was just insane.
“What the hell happened? Why do you look so bothered?” He asked for the third time.
I avoided his gaze, trying to force a smile. “I’m fine, Noah. Just… a lot on my mind.”
He moved closer, searching my eyes. “You know you can tell me anything, right? Whatever it is, I’m here for you.”
I swallowed hard. How can I explain it? “It’s just… you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Try me.” He urged.
I hesitated. “Actually, I was thinking about the contract with Ken.”
His brow furrowed. “Is that what’s been bothering you? You’re seriously considering it?”
“I don’t know,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “He came to my office with the final contract yesterday and now I’m second-guessing everything. Maybe working with him was a mistake and maybe I should just let go of the company.”
“No.” Noah’s response was firm. “If you don’t take back that company, you’ll never forgive yourself. If you don’t forgive yourself, you won’t be happy. And I can’t stand to see you unhappy.”
I looked at him, my throat tightened as tears pooled in my eyes. “I just don’t want to get pulled back into his mess, Noah. It feels insane.”
He reached out, gently wiping away the tears that spilled down my cheeks. “You’re stronger than you think, Mirabelle.”
Before I could respond, he leaned in and pressed a soft, light kiss to my lips. “I’ve been thinking.” He said, pulling back slightly. “How about we go on a real movie date? Our last movie night at home didn’t go as planned.”
I chuckled softly. “I’d like that. Where do you want to take me?”
“There’s a new cinema downtown. I thought we could catch a movie there sometime when you’re free.” He suggested.
“Sounds perfect,” I replied.
I needed something to distract me.
“Great! I’ll make the plans.” He said, smiling widely.
As he headed to the shower, I stood up and put on a nightgown. Then I rushed to the bed and sank back into the pillows. Noah has always been so supportive, he was always there when I needed him most.
I feel so lucky.
When he stepped out of the bathroom. He quickly put on his nightwear, then he climbed into bed beside me
“So, how’s the progress on purchasing Bilante Inc?” He asked, pulling me into a bear hug.
I sighed, my fingers tracing the pattern on the duvet. “The CEO is adamant about turning it around. He thinks he can revive the company, so he won’t sell it to me. But he’s offering enough shares to make me second in command.”
Noah’s expression shifted. “That sounds annoying.”
“Yeah, It’s frustrating.” I agreed. “What about the investors? How’s that going?” I asked, turning the conversation to him.
“Good, actually. I’m signing the contract with them in a few days.” He replied. “They have important knowledge of the Chinese market and its strategies. Working with them would eventually be fruitful.”
“That’s great news!” I exclaimed.
“They also want me to work closely with someone, though.” He added.
“Who?” I pressed.
“A model.” He said casually. “She’ll be coming in about a month, am not sure. But she’ll definitely be coming back before the building of the branch in China starts.”
I raised an eyebrow, playfully feigning jealousy. “A model, huh? I hope she knows you’re taken.”
He laughed. “I promise, I’m all yours. It’s just business.”
“I’m really glad you’re here,” I murmured, snuggling closer to him.
“Me too,” he replied softly, tightening an arm around me. “You mean the world to me, Mirabelle.”

When I woke up, Noah was still beside me.
“Good morning,” Noah murmured, his eyes fluttering open.
“Good morning,” I replied, a soft smile playing on my lips. “Did you sleep well?”
“Of course I did because you were here.” He said, brushing a hand through my hair. “So, what’s the plan for today?”
“I think I’ll reach out to Ken for the contract signing and maybe take a closer look at the Bilante situation.”
After a quick breakfast with Noah and the kids, I had my bath and dressed up for work.
Before we both left the house, Noah pulled me into a hug. “You look hot.”
I smiled. “Thanks, you look really good as well, Noah.”
“I always look good.” He said, releasing me.
As I arrived at Bilante Inc., I walked through the glass doors, taking in the modern design of the lobby.
The receptionist looked up from her desk.
“Hello, I’d like to see the CEO, Mr. Charles,” I said, smiling.
“Do you have an appointment, Ma’am?” she inquired, glancing at her computer screen.
“Nope, but he will surely want to see me,” I replied.
The receptionist nodded and placed a call. After a brief conversation, she looked back at me. “Mr. Charles will see you now. Just follow me.”
I nodded, following her down the corridor. As we approached a large office door, the receptionist knocked lightly before opening it.
“Mr. Charles, I am with Mrs. Sylvester.” She announced, stepping aside to let me in.
“Come in.” A deep voice responded.
I stepped into the office, and Mr. Charles stood to greet me. He was a tall man with an air of authority, dressed in a tailored suit.
“Mirabelle, welcome. Please, take a seat.” He said, gesturing to a chair across from his desk.
“Thank you for seeing me,” I replied, settling into the chair.
After exchanging pleasantries about the weather, I quickly shifted the conversation to what I actually came for. “I’m ready to discuss the shares you offered.”
Mr. Charles raised an eyebrow. “You’re sure? Why the sudden change of mind?”
“Well, I believe in the potential of Bilante Inc. and I want to be a part of its future,” I replied, and he nodded slowly, considering my words.
But actually, I plan to, after settling into the company as the second in command, I will then acquire my shares from other shareholders and become the CEO. Once I achieve that, I will take the company from ground level to a higher level. And once that has been done, I’ll sell my shares to someone capable.
“Ambitious.” He remarked, leaning back in his chair.
We continued to discuss the terms of the share purchase. Just as I was starting to feel confident about our discussion, my phone vibrated in my bag.
“Excuse me for a moment.” I apologized as I fished it out of my black Birkin bag.
I glanced at the screen and noticed that it was an unknown number. “Who is this?” I asked, picking up the call.
“Mitchelle!”
