Mitchelle’s POV:
I can’t believe Estella threw me out and that worthless Ken abandoned me by the roadside.
How crazy!
Can things get any worse?
As I stepped onto the front porch of the bungalow I shared with Ken, memories of what had happened earlier at the event flooded my mind.
I gazed up at the shabby house, trying to understand how everything had gone out of control.
I had thought that by taking both my father’s company and Ken from Estella, I would emerge victorious. Instead, I found myself becoming the sore loser, while she once again stood at the top.
Deep down, I always wondered if my status as my father’s stepdaughter made me unworthy. Perhaps that’s why he chose to let Mirabelle inherit everything, a decision that made me loathe her even more.
Watching her grow up, showered with love and attention that I craved, my jealousy morphed into a deep-seated hatred. Yet, for reasons I couldn’t understand, she always treated me kindly, which only made me disgusted.
Her ability to embody perfection and offer love, even to someone who clearly despised her, was infuriating. And today, as I watched her parade around with her usual arrogance feeling all high and mighty, that familiar feeling of disgust washed over me once more.
Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the house. Ken wasn’t in the sitting room, so I made my way to the bedroom, to give him a piece of my mind.
I wasn’t expecting to find him seated in the kitchen, settled on a stool at the counter, chugging a bottle of vodka down his throat.
How pathetic!
Making my way to him. “Why are you acting all sad, like you weren’t the one that framed her up and even tried to get her hooked up with a pimp.”
He slammed the bottle onto the counter and turned to face me. “Don’t start,” he hissed. But I wasn’t scared, maybe a little moved by the deadly look in his glaring eyes but I definitely wasn’t scared.
“You already started it, Ken. You ruined my life. You drove the company to bankruptcy, sold everything we had, and today I lost my sister because of you,” I ranted.
“I made the company go bankrupt?” He began. “You were always the one making outrageous demands, taking out a huge amount of money to fund your luxurious lifestyle, and you were also the one that pushed me into getting a loan when the bankruptcy began because you just couldn’t handle being broke. And when it all failed I had to sell everything to pay off the loan that you forced me to get.” He said while pointing at me.
“It’s not like I held you at gunpoint and forced you to get a loan. So don’t you dare blame me for your stupidity?” I clapped back. “You know what, Ken? You are so useless, how couldn’t you notice that it was your brother in the goddamn video. None of this would have happened if you could have just done your part of the job properly. I wouldn’t have been humiliated, neither would I have been insulted, if you had just done one thing correctly.”
He lets out a deep sigh and stands up abruptly. “Is that what you are worried about, Mirabelle being wealthy? Do you not have any slightest bit of remorse for what you have done? You stole your sister’s husband and deceived him into divorcing and stealing her property. You even advised him to set her up to get fucked by a stranger.” He began.
“And all you can think of is the humiliation you just received. Something you deserved and even more.”
I cannot believe that Ken is blaming me for all that happened. It just proves to me how pathetic he is, it was his jealousy that led him to do something so foolish. The same jealousy that pushed me as well.
“Showing remorse won’t bring Estella back to you. She has moved on and you should find a way to move on as well.” I said. “Starting with getting close to Noah, you need to curry favor from him. Make him think you are sorry and find a way to extort enough money that can push both the company and this house forward. Not simping over someone you have already lost.” I suggested.
“You make me sick, Mitchelle. Can’t you stay a day without scheming? How did I not know that you are so wicked? I must have been blinded by the jealousy I had against Mirabelle that’s why.” He said as he tried to leave, but I stood boldly in front of him. “Get the hell out of my way.” He warned, but I paid no attention.
With my hands placed around my waist, I began. “Estella is gone, Ken Sylvester. Noah has her now, so you should be thinking of a way forward from all these.”
“Stop it!”…
“Do you really think that you can get her back? The love is dead, the old Estella is dead and she has changed, Ken. She now has a better life, a better man, and a better sense of judgment. You are nothing but a dark past that she has fought so hard to forget and has obviously forgotten.” I continued.
“If you don’t step out of my way, then I won’t be responsible for what happens to you.” He warned again. But I didn’t want to back down, I needed it to stick to his skull that Estella would never be his anymore and that he needed to move on.
“Get ready to call her sister-in-law, Ke….”
Suddenly, his hand landed on my face, cutting me off mid-sentence. I looked up at him, my eyes locked onto his. I couldn’t believe that he just slapped me. We had fought many times in the past, but he never dared to hit me.
But he did today, all because of Estella, he slapped me.
It’s all her fault!
I will kill her!
“Get this into your thick skull, Mitchelle.” He began, glaring down at me. “I will get Mirabelle back.” He declared.
