Lillian gripped the steering wheel, her face expressionless, and sped ahead.
Did John think she wouldn’t hit him?
He was simply betting that Lillian wouldn’t have the courage to run him over.
But when the moment came and Lillian really drove straight at him, John, at the last second, panicked and dove to the side.
Lillian’s car drove past him, not even slowing down.
Had he not moved in time, would she have run over him? John felt a chill run down his spine, drenched in sweat.
Crazy!
They were all crazy!
That Conrad wasn’t normal, and now Lillian was just as crazy, following him!
Lillian drove through the traffic, feeling disgusted just thinking about what had just happened with John.
Now, it was time to bring everything to an end.
Lillian dialed a number.
“It’s almost done. John still has time to come beg me for money. The money I gave you was to make sure he can’t survive in City N. If you don’t understand my intentions, I’ll find someone else.”
Lillian generously gave a large sum of money, without wasting time on unnecessary talk.
The person on the other end of the line naturally promised to get the job done.
After they assured her that John would be dealt with thoroughly, Lillian hung up the phone with a blank expression.
When she returned to Hillside Villa, Ada eagerly came over to greet her.
Nancy handed her some slippers. “The graduation ceremony’s coming up, right?”
“Yeah.”
Lillian only showed a genuine smile when she was around Ada during this time.
“That’s wonderful, you’re about to graduate, becoming a real lady.”
Lillian looked at Nancy, feeling a bit amused. Throughout her life, every maid who took care of her had seemed more like a mother than Helen ever did.
“Are you still going to continue directing after graduation?” Nancy casually asked.
Lillian changed into her slippers but had no idea what to do next.
Whatever she did, it would have to be under Conrad’s watchful eyes.
Besides… she hadn’t included Conrad in her future plans.
“I’m not sure.”
With Conrad out, Lillian didn’t care enough to ask where he had gone.
After spending some time watching Animal World with Ada, and while Ada was taken out for a walk, Lillian went upstairs to continue editing the final video. Jack had given her some feedback today, saying some of her segments were too dark and obscure, making it hard for people to understand.
She needed to make it more concise and clear.
When Conrad returned from the drinking party and saw the light in the study on the second floor, he inexplicably felt a sense of calm.
“Have she eaten? Did she eat enough?”
Nancy brought over a cup of coffee. “She ate a bit more than yesterday, and even played with Ada for a while. She seemed in a good mood.”
Conrad nodded and walked upstairs.
He opened the door to the study without knocking.
Lillian was sitting on the sofa, her hair tied up, legs crossed, staring at her laptop with a serious expression.
Without lifting her head, she said, “I still have work to do.”
“What are you so busy with? When are you going to stop and make time for me?” Conrad leaned against the doorframe, his tone filled with grievance.
Lillian stiffened. She knew this moment wouldn’t last long, but she didn’t expect it to come so soon.
Conrad had probably had a drink; as he came closer, she could smell the rich scent of alcohol.
She even recognized it as wine from Lionel’s own vineyard.
He picked her up from behind, her laptop still running its auto-editing, and carried her back to the bedroom.
His kisses fell all over her face and body.
Lillian suddenly found it hard to breathe, not sure whether it was his proximity or the warmth of his dry palms.
The moment she realized he was touching her, every pore on her body resisted.
Just as his fingers began to slide up her nightdress, Lillian suddenly spoke, “Please, no.”
Conrad’s bleary eyes grew cold. “Hmm?”
“I don’t want to have sex.”
His voice was low, “It’s been over a month.”
“Just wait a bit longer. I’m not ready yet.” She was stalling, hoping to delay for as long as possible.
Every time she closed her eyes, she saw her grandmother lying on the operating table.
Conrad’s hand rested at the center of her thigh.
And he was the type of man who did whatever he wanted.
Why would he listen to Lillian’s wishes?
Yet, he spoke softly, “How long are you going to make me wait?”
He held her chin. “Give me a real answer. You know I can’t go on without touching you. If you’re expecting me to let you go, don’t bother saying it. I can’t do that.”
Lillian knew he wouldn’t leave her untouched forever.
Sometimes, she didn’t even understand Conrad’s obsession with her.
The old Lillian would have tried to appease him, but now, she didn’t even have the energy to pretend.
Mr. Conrad, the CEO of the Brown Family Group could have any woman he wanted.
“Didn’t you tell me before not to bother you or expect anything from you? I’ve followed your wishes. Why are you the one who can’t let go now? Are you really so obsessed with me? Can’t I change?” Lillian’s voice was weak.
Conrad caressed her chin, staring into her eyes. “You think I’m obsessed with you?”
Lillian’s gaze was empty. “I don’t know. I can’t see through it, and I don’t want to. At this point, I’d rather you get tired of me sooner.”
Conrad suddenly flipped off her, getting off the bed. “You’ve got about a month and a half left. Once time’s up, clean yourself up and let me do whatever I want. This is your deadline.”
Lillian closed her eyes for a moment.
When she opened them again, she said, “Then I want you to promise me something.”
“What?”
“I want Helen to have nowhere to turn, to be abandoned by everyone, not able to go back overseas. That won’t be enough-she’ll still have luxury, money. I want her to suffer in the hospital, writhing in pain, unable to live or die.”
Lillian continued, “I want John and his family to follow the same path I walked. I want him to be as despised as a rat in the streets, paying for my grandmother’s life.”
Conrad walked into the bathroom and turned his head. “As you wish. And you should understand what I want.”
She did understand. Her body was the best leverage.
And as long as he hadn’t grown tired of her, she could still make use of it.
She also knew that compared to before, Conrad’s tolerance and indulgence towards her had reached unprecedented levels.
But a person’s ambition can grow.
Every time she thought about how these things were earned by her grandmother in her place, she found it so ridiculous.
Her life had started to fall apart the moment the Lewis family went bankrupt.
She had simply moved from one swamp into another.
Conrad tugged at his collar, and as he entered the bathroom, he still felt unhappy inside.
He had always had a strong sexual desire. And Lillian still wouldn’t let him touch her.
He pulled off his shirt and tossed it aside. The man’s black dress shirt was sticking to the soft fabric of the woman’s discarded clothes.
Conrad unbuckled his belt while looking at her pale pink underwear, slowly hooking it with his fingers.
