Andrew’s eyes widened as he quickly shielded Lillian, dodging the bullet.
George immediately snatched Fox’s gun. “Andrew! Take her away now!”
“Why are you stopping me? That woman is definitely the problem! Wasn’t he stable just now? Why is he vomiting blood again?” Fox wasn’t willing to listen to any explanations. She just wanted to get rid of Lillian and not let this troublemaker stay by Conrad’s side any longer.
George couldn’t be bothered to argue with her. “Conrad can’t handle any more stress right now. If you want to push him to the brink, go ahead! But then you’ll be the one who kills him!”
Fox glared at Lillian, unwilling to give up.
The sudden change left Lillian staring at her in a daze. Andrew swiftly escorted her away from the scene.
George stared down Fox. “You’d better behave yourself. For the sake of your brother, I’m letting you off this time. But if you ever point a gun at someone you shouldn’t again, I won’t hesitate to cripple your hand.”
Fox took a deep breath as George confiscated her gun. “If anyone else gives her a gun, you’ll be kicked out along with her.”
“George!”
“I’m treating Conrad now. If you have no business here, get out.” George, already seething, wasn’t one to mince words, especially when angry. He showed Fox no courtesy whatsoever.
Lillian was taken to George’s room.
“It’s safe here. Stay for now.”
“Andrew, I really… I don’t know why this is happening,” Lillian explained weakly.
Andrew remained silent.
“I’m not asking you to believe me. But my grandmother is still in the hospital. You’ve kept me here for a day and a night. If I don’t show up, she’ll be anxious and worried. Can I at least call her?”
“Sorry, you can’t contact anyone.”
“Andrew! Why? Can’t I just call to let her know I’m safe?”
“This island has its own independent communication system. You can’t contact any outsiders yet. Stay here and behave. When Sir is fine, I’ll send someone to check on your grandmother.” After saying that, Andrew opened the door and left.
Lillian wanted to follow, but someone at the door stopped her.
She could only watch Andrew walk away. “Andrew! Andrew!!”
She had felt uneasy since last night.
Something seemed about to happen.

In fact, Lillian’s unease wasn’t just her imagination.
When something happened to Conrad, Lillian was immediately taken away.
There were whispers of a helicopter rescue. With such a big commotion, rumors started spreading around the hospital.
When Frank went to Conrad’s hospital room, everything had been cleared out.
The medical staff only said the patient had been discharged.
But why couldn’t Lillian be reached?
He waited all night, even going to the old house early in the morning, but Lillian hadn’t returned.
In this situation, it was highly likely that Conrad had taken Lillian with him!
Frank, anxious to know Lillian’s situation, called Melissa, who knew nothing about it either.
“Lillian hasn’t contacted me. What’s going on?”
“Nothing. I’ll figure it out.”
Frank hung up, instructed the hospital staff to take good care of the grandmother, and drove back to City N to see what was happening.
Meanwhile, after hearing the news and confirming that Conrad wasn’t in Boyd Town, John returned.
Grandma Kristin was still sunbathing at the hospital. Seeing John enter, she immediately questioned him, “What are you doing here?”
“Mom, look at you. You’re sick, and no one’s taking care of you. How could I leave you like this?” John put down some fruit and smiled at the nurse. “Thank you for your hard work.”
The nurse replied, “Her IV drip is almost finished. When it’s done, call us at the nurse’s station.”
“Thank you! Alright, no problem. Don’t worry.”
Grandma Kristin looked at John’s hypocritical face. “I don’t need your care. Lillian will be here soon.”
“Come on, don’t say things in anger. Frank’s gone, and they won’t be back for a while.”
Grandma Kristin stared at John. “How do you know Frank’s gone?”
John gave a sheepish smile. Of course, he had someone keeping an eye on things.
“Mom, we’re family. Why do you always have to hold grudges against me?” John sat down. “I come to see you, and you won’t even let me. Isn’t that hurtful for your son?”
“What do you want? If you’re here for Lillian’s land, forget it! You can’t have it!”
John’s face darkened. “Mom, that’s not fair. That little brat is just your granddaughter by blood. Don’t you know how much Fanny suffered because of her?”
“What nonsense are you spouting? If Fanny really got hurt, she must have done something wrong. Otherwise, why would Lillian do that to her? John, don’t forget who helped you back then. You followed Alvin around, calling him brother-in-law. Aren’t you afraid of karma now?”
“Karma? Me? You must be kidding. You care more about Alvin’s daughter than your own. Lillian’s a curse. Whoever gets close to her suffers. I’m drowning in debt, and you don’t care, but you want to leave the land to her!”
John stared at Grandma Kristin, pulling out a document. “Sign the document! I’m telling you, you’d better listen to me now. Lillian will have bad luck sooner or later, and eventually, you’ll need me to take care of you. What good does opposing me do you?”
John reached to grab the old lady’s hand. “It’s just signing a document. Is it that hard? What’s the use of giving it to Lillian? She has plenty of men outside, but you should help your son here, shouldn’t you? I’m being pushed to the brink of death!”
Grandma Kristin wouldn’t let him succeed. As he grabbed her arm, she called out, her voice trembling, “Help! Help!”
“What are you yelling for? I sent someone to talk to you, but you drove them away! You really want to wipe out our Harper family, don’t you? Lillian, an outsider, why should she covet the Harper family’s property? If you want to leave it to her, forget it.”
John spoke, then tried to knock Grandma Kristin unconscious and use her fingerprint to settle the matter.
“That’s Lillian’s! Not something that belongs to your Harper family!”
“Lillian, Lillian! I bet your Lillian isn’t coming back!” John leaned in, his voice filled with malice. “I’m telling you, Lillian messed with the wrong person. You’ll never see her again!”
“What… what have you done to Lillian?”
In her panic, Grandma Kristin’s breathing became rapid, her eyes glazing over.
John held her hand, but she suddenly fell from the wheelchair, convulsing.
John was startled, quickly gathering the papers. “Nurse! Nurse, hurry!”
If the old lady died of anger while with him, he’d be blamed.
But there was no need to rush. Once she was revived and knew Lillian wasn’t coming back, she’d realize she had no choice but to rely on him.
As the medical staff rushed in to save her, John quietly disappeared.
“This condition is beyond our hospital’s capabilities. Contact the family. Should we transfer the patient to Thomas Family Hospital in City N? Their medical technology and experts might help.”
“But we can’t reach the family at all.”
