[Wow, this woman is using her looks to act like she owns the place. I see she’s got ties with a bunch of different men! I can’t stand people like her.]
[Prostitutes don’t care how old you are, as long as you provide benefits. I heard this woman used to come from a rich family.]
[Then what happened? How did she fall this low?]
[I think after her family went bankrupt, she started selling herself everywhere. Her arms are like pillows for a thousand men.]
Evelyn was scrolling through the messages on her phone, feeling incredibly satisfied.
This was exactly how it should be. A slut like Lillian deserved to be scorned by everyone.
“Have our trolls hit the streets yet?”
“Evelyn, don’t worry, I’ve already sent them out. They’re starting to attack Lillian and pushing for her to leave the set.”
Evelyn smirked. “Nice work. I’ll give you a bonus this month.”
“Thank you, Evelyn! Lillian thinks she can push us out and get away with it. But Mr. Conrad still cares about you. He’s still giving you resources. And Mr. Martin likes you too. Evelyn, you’re definitely going to hit it big.”
Evelyn looked at her freshly done nails and sneered. “If you stick with me, of course you’ll eat well and live well. But I’m not aiming to be just a popular star. I want to dominate the internet, to be the top trending celebrity!”
“Of course, the rich men and women all invited you to perform at their birthday party. They all call you ‘Mrs. Conrad.’ With Mr. Conrad backing you, who would dare stand in your way?”
Evelyn was very pleased with the flattery.
She glanced back at her assistant. “You’re right. Give me the phone. I haven’t seen Conrad in a while. I need to call him.”
Evelyn then dialed Ford.
At that moment, Conrad was at his family’s old house.
“Conrad, it’s been so long since you’ve come to visit Grandma. Have you forgotten about me?” Old Mrs. Brown scolded Conrad.
Conrad was being careless. “Grandma, I’ve been so busy lately that I feel like I’m about to see my great-grandmother. Have some compassion for your grandson, please.”
“I know you, you troublemaker. You’ve always loved causing trouble. You don’t come back, while Daisy has been coming here often. A while ago, she even learned how to give massages. When I had a headache, she helped me out. You’re getting older now. It’s time to get married and have children. Her White family may not be as good as ours, but they’re still a reputable family.”
Conrad raised an eyebrow, clearly not paying much attention. After a pause, he asked, “Grandma, do you prefer boys or girls?”
“As long as it’s from our family, I don’t care whether it’s a boy or a girl. I’ll love them the same. The house is so empty, it’s lonely. It would be nice to have a child around. You’re almost 28 now, getting married is just right. You could have a few more kids-we can afford it.”
As people grow older, they fear loneliness and silence.
Conrad chuckled. “Then let’s have both.”
“Really? I thought you wanted to get married. Daisy seems alright to me.” Old Mrs. Brown said happily.
Conrad’s gaze turned cold. “What does she have to do with it?”
Old Mrs. Brown glared at him. “What do you mean, ‘what does she have to do with it’? You’re engaged to her, so of course, she’s my granddaughter-in-law. What are you thinking? She and her mother come by here all the time. Just give me an answer so I can send them a gift.”
“Anything you give them would be priceless. What, now you want to get something extra?” Conrad glanced at his watch. “Grandma, I’m tired. Is it okay if I go upstairs and take a nap?”
Old Mrs. Brown laughed. “Go ahead.”
Conrad stood up, and Old Mrs. Brown playfully smacked his backside twice as he walked away.
The nanny, who was taking care of Old Mrs. Brown, commented, “I think Miss Daisy is pretty good. She seems to match with Mr. Conrad. But I wonder if her temper is too mild to handle him.”
“Yeah, from the way he sounded earlier, he’s not too interested in Daisy. Did you notice? He’s got another woman around him.”
The nanny smiled. “With a young master like him, there’s no shortage of women. It’s no surprise if he’s seeing someone.”
“True. His looks came from his mother. He was always bound to attract attention.”
When they mentioned Conrad’s mother, everyone fell silent.
Conrad went upstairs, and as soon as he opened the door, he sensed something was off. He pulled out his gun and aimed it at a corner of the room.
“Are you going to come out on your own, or should I make you?”
“It’s me.” Daisy emerged from behind the screen.
Conrad’s eyes narrowed.
Daisy was wearing nothing but a loose black bathrobe. Under Conrad’s gaze, she shyly lowered her head.
“What are you doing here?” Conrad lowered his gun.
Daisy smiled faintly, a smile she had practiced many times to make the most of her advantages.
“I came to see your grandmother today. But when I was pouring coffee, I spilled on my clothes. The maids took them to wash, so I didn’t want to be rude by going downstairs in such a state. I stayed here in your room, thinking I’d just wait until things calmed down. I didn’t expect you to come back so suddenly.”
Her words subtly implied that she didn’t mean to cause trouble.
Conrad raised an eyebrow. “Did my grandmother tell you to come into my room?”
Daisy froze for a moment, then, under Conrad’s intense gaze, she spoke the truth.
“Conrad, I haven’t seen you for a while, and I… I missed you.” She took a step toward him. “We are all getting engaged., so there’s no need to make things so formal. I want to be close to you.”
Daisy stood on tiptoe and was about to kiss him.
But just at that moment, Conrad’s phone rang.
He answered it.
“Mr. Conrad, Miss Evelyn said her eyes were feeling uncomfortable and she wanted you to come see her.”
“Got it,” Conrad responded coldly and then pushed Daisy aside with his hand. “I’ll pretend I didn’t notice what happened today. You don’t need to go that far. Women should be a little more reserved.”
Daisy’s expression changed instantly, feeling completely humiliated.
She was still fully dressed, but it felt as though Conrad had stripped her bare and thrown her out the window.
Her lips trembled as she stared at Conrad. “Are… are you going to see Evelyn?”
“Yeah, you heard me.” Conrad entered the bathroom to wash his hands.
Daisy bit her lip, nearly drawing blood from the force.
“Do you have to go?”
“Yes.”
Tears suddenly welled up in Daisy’s eyes. “Then will you still get engaged to me?”
“If you don’t want to, we don’t have to,” Conrad said, and Daisy suddenly turned her head.
“At least I don’t think those words should have come from you.” Conrad’s gaze remained indifferent.
Daisy pulled her lips into a thin line. “I’m a woman, too. Feeling jealous is a normal reaction.”
“It’s unnecessary,” Conrad said, turning to open the door.
“Mr. Conrad,” Someone passed by.
Conrad gave an order. “Disinfect the room, take everything out.”
“Yes.”
Daisy trembled with anger.
Evelyn.
That unworthy bitch!
Daisy thought Conrad would treat her differently!
But now it seemed… she couldn’t stand it anymore!
She was the best choice for a high-society wife, but that didn’t mean she would tolerate her husband leaving her behind for another woman during an intimate moment.
This behavior was unacceptable! Absolutely not!
Daisy took out her phone.
“Miss?”
“Irene, go find a few people and ruin Evelyn’s reputation!”
“But I heard Mr. Conrad is arranging for her to be in our company’s magazine this month.”
“I’ll deal with him. You just focus on digging up Evelyn’s dirty secrets. Be careful and keep it clean. I want her to fall as hard as she rises.”
Mrs. Conrad?
She, Conrad’s fiancee, was still alive, and Evelyn dared to have people call her “Mrs. Conrad”!
She was so arrogant, even challenging her!
If she kept tolerating this, it would be like letting her step all over her.
