Chapter 39 The Important Role

Book:Let Me Go, Sugar Daddy Published:2025-2-8

“So, how do you like this idiot’s way of chasing you?”
Lillian lowered her gaze. “I don’t like it, and you should already know that.”
He could investigate someone as random as Justin and find out everything about them.
If he hadn’t looked into her past, would he have kept her around for three years?
Martin had been completely obsessed with pursuing her back when they were in school.
There were always people chasing her, but the ones who could actually help her after her family went bankrupt were the fathers of those pursuers. They just wanted to sleep with her, but when she turned them down, they spread rumors that they’d slept with her. Thinking about that time still disgusted her.
Martin was the only one willing to help, but the White family sent him overseas.
But back then, Lillian wouldn’t have chosen him. A man who had to rely on his parents for his future-why would she depend on him? How could she pay back her family’s huge debt and deal with all the enemies coming at her?
Once again, Lillian tragically realized, she had no choice but to turn to Conrad.
So, this path was always the same, and at this moment, she still had to beg Conrad for help.
“I don’t know. Maybe you think this young boy is the one you want to marry.”
Lillian suddenly remembered what she said the other day about not being able to wait, and wanting to find someone to marry.
Conrad really held a grudge.
“Mr. Conrad, you need a little confidence. With you, why would I settle for some young kid like that?”
Conrad grabbed her breasts, fiddling with them. “Is that so?”
Her breath caught, and she quickly grabbed his hand.
“Mr. Conrad, only you can satisfy me.”
His smile faded suddenly as he took his phone from his pocket and said into it, “Got it? If you heard me, get lost. Don’t cause drama downstairs in front of my office.”
“…” Lillian froze, glancing downstairs.
Martin hung up and looked up at the building.
Even though he couldn’t see clearly, Lillian felt like he could see her with Conrad. He could even see Conrad’s hand on her breasts.
Lillian quickly turned her head and pushed Conrad away. “Are you bored or something?”
Just thinking about her words being overheard made her feel like she was standing on the side of the road, naked.
Conrad, in a great mood, shoved her back against the glass.
He looked down at Lillian, brushing his finger over her lips. “You can only sleep with me. So why should you care about what other men think?”
“Not caring doesn’t mean you can humiliate me like this.” Lillian couldn’t understand his logic. “Besides, aren’t you supposed to be marrying Daisy from the White family? Aren’t you afraid Martin will tell Daisy what you’ve been doing in your office? You offend the White family, and I can’t afford that.”
“You’re mine. Who cares if you offend the world?”
Only Conrad would talk like that.
Ford knocked on the door. “Mr. Conrad, Miss Daisy’s on the phone.”
Conrad sat down and reached for the phone. Ford handed it to him.
“Is something wrong?”
Lillian tried to stand up.
Conrad furrowed his brow and stared at her, making her sit back down.
He squeezed her hand, carefully inspecting her scars. When he saw that her wounds were starting to scab over, he casually spoke into the phone.
“Oh, not too busy. What’s up?”
“My little brother caused you some trouble. Don’t hold it against him.”
“No, I won’t.”
“Good. He’s just a kid. No need to let him get under your skin. I want to have dinner with you tonight. Will you come with me?”
Conrad squeezed Lillian’s fingers, watching the look in her eyes as she tried to please him. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he agreed, “Fine.”
“Great! I’ll go ahead and book the restaurant and wait for you.”
Honestly, Conrad just wanted to have sex with Lillian tonight. He could never get enough. At least a few times a day.
Daisy’s sudden appearance messed up his plans.
“Can you bring up the specialist with her tonight? You don’t have to mention me.”
Conrad’s expression darkened. “What do you think I am? A pawn to trade for medical supplies?”
Well… It was an accurate description.
“You don’t have to sell your body, just ask her.”
“Do you think Daisy’s interested in my body?” Conrad glared at her. “Get out!”
She was already annoying him.
Lillian quickly got up to leave, practically feeling the dog chasing her from behind.
Ford, awkwardly, handed Conrad the files and the remaining schedule for him to review.
“Mr. Conrad, Mrs. Brown asked when you’ll come back for dinner.”
“I’m not going back. A bunch of freeloaders showing up, chattering on and on. I’ve done enough by not kicking them out of the shareholder meeting.”
Martin had already left, but when Lillian came out of the office, everyone could tell she was probably yelled at by Conrad-no other reason for her to look so miserable.
Only Alice was nervous, thinking maybe Lillian would go to Conrad and say something that would cost her the chance to stay in the CEO’s office.
But luckily, Conrad didn’t send anyone in all day.
Lillian sat at her desk with no work to do. Evelyn hadn’t gone back to school yet, so their campus shoot couldn’t continue. Instead, Jack had reached out to her, asking if she could help with some storyboards for a movie.
Of course, Lillian couldn’t say no. Since she couldn’t go to work for now, helping Jack with something related to the film crew would at least keep her in the industry. Besides, she was about to graduate, so adding one more line to her resume couldn’t hurt.
The whole afternoon was spent sketching simple designs with a ballpoint pen and pencil on plain paper.
Everyone knew she got into the company because of her connections, so who would dare cause trouble for her?
When Conrad came out of his office, Lillian was still sketching. The people from the executive office stood up by the elevator, waiting for him. But Lillian was so focused, that she didn’t notice the movement around her.
It wasn’t until Ford cleared his throat twice that Lillian finally looked up and realized everyone was staring at her.
Conrad’s voice was cold. “What kind of useless people are you hiring these days? Do you think the salaries at my Brown Family Group are so easy to make?”
Lillian quickly stood up, shoved the paper into her bag, and ran over.
But Conrad wasn’t waiting for her. He just walked straight into the elevator.
Lillian knew he was pissed off again. Not bothering with any sarcastic remarks from the others, she pressed the elevator button to call it back.
Everyone stared at her like she was crazy.
She actually just pulled Conrad back into the elevator like that. Didn’t she know how to spell “death”?
The elevator door opened again, and the man leading the group glanced over.
Lillian, expressionless, walked in and smiled at Conrad. “Mr. Conrad, you almost forgot about me.”
Conrad scoffed, “You’ve got some guts.”
“I have an important role too. Let’s go, Mr. Conrad.” She closed the elevator doors, cutting off the prying eyes outside.
“Important role? Since when did I not know you were so important?”
Facing Conrad’s sarcastic tone, Lillian casually leaned against him, turning her head to look at him. “Hmm? Mr. Conrad, maybe you don’t need me, but what if your ‘member’ does? I’m here to serve.”
Ford automatically tuned out.
Conrad pinched her waist hard. “Trying to seduce me, huh?”
Lillian thought, Do I even need to seduce you? Arrogant jerk.
She stayed close to him, playing the obedient one, and Conrad felt a rush of satisfaction in his chest.
Daisy had picked a more distant restaurant this time, an aerial dining spot by the beach. By evening, you could get a perfect view of the sunset.
By the time Conrad arrived, the sun was setting, and there were people laughing on the beach, with neon lights slowly lighting up.
It was a romantic spot.
But Lillian didn’t have the time to appreciate it. “About my grandmother…”
“Wait here,” Conrad said, getting out of the car and heading into the restaurant with Ford and Andrew.
He left a driver behind to keep Lillian company.
