Chapter 69 He Was Important Than Anything

Book:My Unexpected Billionaire Husband Published:2025-2-8

Sarah poured herself a cup of juice. “Camille, with a face like his, do you really think he needs to make moves on anyone?”
Camille hesitated. “Uh…”
To be honest, Camille thought Holden’s face, combined with his aura, would easily make him a star if he walked into any entertainment company. He could become the top actor, celebrated everywhere.
But Camille couldn’t resist pinching Sarah’s soft, youthful cheek. “Sarah, you have no idea how much big shots in the business world adore pretty, innocent girls like you.”
Her face was full of collagen, soft and springy, with big, watery eyes, rosy lips, and a slender, perfectly straight nose. Just looking at her made you want to tease her until she cried.
If someone could lock up such a beauty as their personal “caged bird,” hidden away just for themselves, the thought alone was enough to make anyone feel excited.
It was getting late, and an hour ago, a heavy snowstorm suddenly hit. There was no way anyone was getting back to the set, so the group booked hotel rooms instead.
Holden had been toasted the most during dinner. Originally, the producers and investors had planned to discuss business with the director, but once Holden joined, everyone started looking to him for cues.
Sarah was a bit worried about Holden drinking too much. She had overheard from Butler Ted that Holden’s doctor advised him to avoid too much alcohol and caffeine. Plus, people at his level usually had some kind of stomach issues, and drinking too much could really mess with his health.
As the one paying her the most, Holden’s well-being mattered more to Sarah than the film itself. Before heading to her room, she made a note of Holden’s room number and asked the hotel staff for a warm glass of milk. A glass of milk before bed would not only help sober him up but also improve his sleep.
Sarah knocked on Holden’s door, holding the milk in her hands. After waiting for a while, the door finally opened.
Holden was wearing a bathrobe, clearly fresh out of the shower, with his hair half-dried and still dripping water.
Sarah held out the milk. “Mr. Holden, you should drink this before bed. I noticed you drank a lot tonight.”
Holden curled his lips coldly. “You care about me that much?”
Sarah replied, “Of course.”
To her, Holden was her boss, her sugar daddy, and was more important than anything, even her own life.
But it wasn’t just because of their contract. In Sarah’s eyes, Holden was a mysterious and incredibly charming boss, someone she could never fully figure out.
In the original story, every supporting character seemed to exist only to push the main couple-Elisa and Ronald-closer together. Sarah’s role was basically to create obstacles for their relationship, making it more dramatic and sweet in the end. Holden, on the other hand, seemed to exist to give the male lead a helping hand in his career.
But what Holden actually thought or had been through was always a mystery.
“I don’t drink anything before bed,” Holden said.
Realizing she might have overstepped, Sarah turned to leave, still holding the milk.
“If you step out of this room, you won’t see a dime of salary for the next year.”
Sarah quickly spun around. “I’m not going anywhere!”
200 million was on the line. Holden had all the power here.
If they didn’t divorce next year, she’d be set for life.
Whatever the boss says, goes. No question.
With no other choice, Sarah sat down on Holden’s bed and gulped down half the milk.
After spending most of the day filming in the freezing wind and then dealing with the evening’s events, the warm milk made her drowsy.
While Holden was drying his hair, Sarah leaned back on the pillows and fell asleep.
Holden reached over and gently pinched her chin, staring at her innocent, defenseless face as she slept.
At his core, Holden was a truly wicked person. He wore the mask of a gentleman, but underneath, he had the heart of a predator. He took whatever he wanted, caring little for morality or rules.
Tonight, his intentions were no different from those of the men Sarah had encountered before.
The only difference? Sarah had such a deep filter for him that she convinced herself he was some kind of good guy.
In Holden’s eyes, she was still a sweet, naive little girl, much younger than him, unable to hide her true nature or her concern for him, and the way she naturally gravitated toward him.
The only problem? Her judgment was a little off. She had fallen head over heels for someone like Ronald.
If Holden wasn’t worried Sarah would end up hating him, he’d have bankrupted Ronald and then dealt with him for good.
In her sleep, Sarah unconsciously nuzzled into Holden’s palm, inching closer to him. Holden let out a quiet laugh and pulled the blanket up to cover her.
The next morning, when Sarah woke up, she felt a bit warm. She lifted her head and bumped into something. Shifting over, she looked up and saw Holden’s handsome, sharp features.
Waking up to a good-looking guy wasn’t a bad way to start the day. It would’ve been even better if his expression hadn’t been so cold.
Quickly, Sarah reached up to rub Holden’s chin where she had accidentally bumped him. “Sorry, sorry.”
Holden grabbed her hand.
Sarah looked at herself, then at Holden. She was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday, while Holden was in a silky hotel robe, slightly open at the collar, with a trace of sleep still on his face.
She glanced at the bed. Most of her side was empty, while Holden was practically pushed to the edge.
Feeling a bit guilty, she said, “I must’ve fallen asleep by accident. It’s still early. Why don’t you come over to this side and sleep a bit more so you don’t fall off? I need to get ready and head to the set.”
Holden raised an eyebrow. “You know you sleep all over the place, right?”
Sarah replied, “This is an exception… besides, you crowd me at night too.”
She shifted over and gave Holden a little tug, only to have him grab her wrist and pull her into his arms instead.
Holden had this faint scent that Sarah had always wondered about. Was it cologne? Curious, she leaned in to take a whiff at his neck.
Holden immediately pressed his hand on her shoulder. “Stop moving.”
Sarah froze. “Uh.”
Holden clearly had no issues in the physical department.
Sarah, freshly woken, with her dewy eyes, pale creamy skin, and rosy lips, looked like a vision. Her golden, thick hair spilled over her shoulders, and she had that soft, fragrant scent lingering on her. Her soft and full breasts pressed against Holden’s arm.
Now, frozen in place, she didn’t dare move. If all her years of reading romance novels hadn’t failed her, she could guess what was pressing against her right now.
Holden’s hand rested on her waist. He didn’t seem bothered; after all, any normal guy waking up would react this way. But for Sarah, it felt like a lightning strike out of nowhere.
She had always thought that people like Holden-big-time CEOs-were immune to basic desires.
Well, even someone as powerful as Holden had physiological needs, it seemed.
Holden grasped her small hand, his tone casual. “Wanna help me out?”
Sarah blinked. “Uh… Mr. Holden, I really can’t help with that.”
Holden chuckled, amused. “Coward.”
Sarah started to sweat a little. Holden could dock her pay if he wanted, even all of next year’s, but she wasn’t going to agree to this kind of deal.
Surprisingly, Holden didn’t threaten her. Instead, he got up and went into the bathroom. When he came out, he was fully dressed and ready to go.
Sarah had been starving and was ready to grab some breakfast. When she opened the door and walked out with Holden, they ran into Director Colby and the producer.
Director Colby glanced at Sarah, then at Holden.
