Chapter 62 Her Acting Skills Was Great

Book:My Unexpected Billionaire Husband Published:2025-2-8

Sarah completely ignored Elisa and Ronald, who were watching for drama on the side, and calmly introduced herself to the director. She wasn’t overly friendly, but she didn’t come off as arrogant either-just someone with a strong sense of self.
Director Colby, even though he thought Sarah’s looks and vibe didn’t match the role, still had her try out the same scene Elisa had just done.
As soon as Sarah stepped on stage, her whole presence changed.
Her originally bright and pretty eyes turned sharp, and she made a motion like she was reaching for a sword. That unconscious move made Frank a little impressed because the script didn’t detail it that much. Sarah added some actions of her own, which made the character feel more alive.
Her gaze was cold, but also carried a hint of disdain. “You dare trespass on Saint Island? Are you looking to die?”
Of course, no one was opposite her, but in the script, the male lead’s group was supposed to be speaking. Even though there was no dialogue from the other side, the expression on this cold and stunning woman’s face gradually shifted, forming a slight smirk. “The Saint Seal? Do you even know that’s just a legend?”
She held no sword, yet she made a gesture as if drawing one. “If you want to pass through here, you must ask my sword first.”
Just now, Elisa had shouted out the lines, trying to seem powerful. But Sarah’s voice was calm as ever, which, for some reason, gave off an even stronger sense of pressure.
Watching her performance, Ronald was stunned. He didn’t know why, but suddenly he felt like he didn’t understand Sarah at all.
In his eyes, Sarah had always been someone who would get jealous and fight over love. She was vain, beautiful, and refined, always acting superior. She was either scheming against Elisa to win him over or buying expensive clothes and accessories.
A girl like her was never easily satisfied. Give Elisa a single pearl, and she’d be over the moon with gratitude. But give Sarah a string of diamonds, and you still might not earn her admiration or respect.
Dating someone like Sarah meant enormous sunk costs, and she didn’t provide the kind of easy happiness Elisa did.
But now, Ronald felt like he never really knew Sarah, didn’t know what kind of person she really was, didn’t realize she had this side to her too. She didn’t seem like a caged bird, but more like a swan that could spread its wings and fly, able to fetch beautiful jewels from a deserted island to adorn herself.
Frank whispered, “Wow, no wonder Crystal and Director Beck both recommended her. Is this girl really a newbie?”
“I haven’t seen any of her other work.” Director Colby hadn’t expected Sarah to nail the scene this well, especially compared to Elisa’s flashy but empty performance, which made Sarah look like a seasoned pro. “She’s actually quite good.”
Despite her bad reputation online, Director Colby had made up his mind to cast her. She was exactly how he envisioned Mollie-born to play this role.
The staff member escorted Sarah out. “You can go home and wait for the notice.”
Ronald turned to Director Colby. “Director Colby, no room for negotiation?”
Director Colby’s tone was distant. “Mr. Ronald, you saw for yourself. Miss Elisa just isn’t right for the part. Her acting skills aren’t there yet.”
Elisa felt all kinds of emotions. She had always tried to crush Sarah in front of Ronald.
In the past, Sarah gradually fell from her pedestal as a dreamboat, while Elisa, who was exceptional in every way, was steadily climbing up to take her place.
At first, Elisa was just Sarah’s substitute. But she was convinced that one day she would swallow Sarah whole, drive her crazy, and make sure there was only one unique Elisa in the world.
How could there be two people so similar? One was more than enough.
But now, Elisa was feeling a bit hesitant, even a little panicked. She had no idea what was going on in the world… She should’ve been sailing smoothly…
As soon as Sarah stepped out of the elevator, she got a text saying she had passed the audition.
Director Colby didn’t hesitate much or want to see more people; he just decided on Sarah. With Elisa nearby for comparison, Sarah looked like a genius. Without Elisa there, maybe Director Colby would’ve considered Sarah’s reputation and thought about auditioning more people before making a choice.
Now, Director Colby was genuinely annoyed with Ronald and Elisa and wanted to settle on someone quickly to avoid any further trouble from them.
Sarah didn’t have a thick resume, no major status, and not even a single fan. So her pay was pretty low, and since movie salaries were generally less than TV, even famous actors didn’t get paid as much.
For a crew like Director Beck or Director Colby, some actors would jump at the chance even if it meant working for free.
But building a career took time. Achievements were earned bit by bit. For Sarah, taking things step by step felt much more solid than suddenly becoming famous overnight.
Who knew? One day she could be a big star with countless fans.
She drove home, and by the time she arrived, it was already late.
The house was quiet, with most of the lights off.
Sarah’s heart skipped a beat-could it be that Holden was back?
Having Holden home was actually nice. Looking at his face every day was a treat.
She tiptoed up the stairs when suddenly someone pulled her back. She turned around carefully to see Butler Ted shushing her.
“Hmm?” Sarah asked.
“Mr. Holden is in the wine cellar, drunk,” Butler Ted replied.
“Is he drowning his sorrows because of a bad business deal worth billions?”
“Oh, not really. Young Master rarely fails in business,” Butler Ted sighed. “But there are always a few days each month when he’s not happy.”
“So am I, but your Young Master is a man,” Sarah pointed out.
Butler Ted, sounding like an NPC, continued, “We can’t advise him; we can only avoid him. But I’m worried he might break something while he’s drunk in there. The wine is super expensive… Lady, you should maybe go check on him?”
Sarah, “Just because you guys can’t do it, does that mean I have to?”
“We don’t get 20 million in salary a month.”
Sarah, “…”
Fine. If the sugar daddy was upset, as his sugar daughter, she had to cheer him up. After all, she was living in Holden’s mansion worth billions and eating his food.
There was a strange feeling in her heart as she hesitated for a moment. “Does Mr. Holden have some sort of mental illness?”
One moment he was like an angel, and the next, like a devil.
Butler Ted’s expression shifted slightly. “No! Absolutely not!”
“Really?”
Butler Ted nodded. “Just when he was a kid, he experienced some trauma.”
“What kind of trauma?”
“I can’t say, Lady. You’ll have to find out for yourself.”
