Chapter 9 Sugar Daddy

Book:My Unexpected Billionaire Husband Published:2025-2-8

Half an hour later, Sarah was back at the original hotel. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door the man had mentioned.
Moments later, the door opened.
Holden was wearing just a bathrobe, water droplets dripping from his golden hair.
His expression was inexplicably grim, his handsome features carrying a cold edge. “Sarah, what are you doing here?”
Sarah responded, “Didn’t you call your buddy to tell me to come over?”
Holden’s face briefly showed a terrifying expression, but he quickly returned to his usual distant demeanor. “I understand.”
With a click, the hotel room door was locked.
Holden’s phone rang again, and the same man’s voice came through, “Bro, that’s the latest drug from City W. I was worried about any leftover effects after the injection, so I called your wife. Remember to let her in. You think other women are dirty, but she should be fine, right? Damn, I’ll deal with the bitch who drugged you later…”
Sarah heard everything clearly. She turned to leave, but Holden grabbed her wrist and pressed it against the door, his voice low and dangerous, “Since you’re here, do you really want to leave?”
Sarah, “…” She had no intention of being some human antidote.
Holden looked her over carefully.
It was still the same face, but the subtle expressions were entirely different from the old Sarah. The current Sarah seemed more lively.
Seeing the mix of caution and curiosity on her once pretentious face, Holden found it oddly amusing.
“Tomorrow morning, I have an important meeting and need to ensure I get enough sleep tonight,” Holden said. “You need to stay up all night and watch over me. If anything happens, call this number. He’s a doctor.”
Sarah protested, “Stay up all night? But I’m human too. I get tired.”
“Can’t do it? Then you’ll lose the twenty million dollars next month,” Holden replied. “Can you manage, my dear wife?”
Sarah said, “Staying up all night? No big deal. Sugar daddy, don’t worry, I’ll watch over you.”
Holden smiled warmly.
He was already very handsome, but his smile made him even more charming.
“I don’t have such a foolish daughter,” he remarked.
Even though she said she would keep an eye on everything, by 3:00 AM, Sarah was really struggling to stay awake. Her eyelids kept drooping, and she would nod off only to jolt awake moments later. She pinched her cheeks to stay alert.
Sarah opened her phone and watched videos to keep herself from falling asleep.
Holden didn’t have any more reactions to the drug overnight. Aside from occasionally furrowing his brows as if he was uncomfortable, there were no other signs.
Sarah saw him sleeping peacefully and eventually fell asleep at the bedside herself.
Holden woke up at 7 AM.
The morning sunlight streamed into the room, filling it with a soft golden glow.
He felt something pressing on his chest and looked down.
The girl was sleeping soundly, her golden hair gently cascading over her shoulder. Her face, free of makeup, was almost translucent in its whiteness.
Sarah’s eyelashes were particularly long, seemingly able to stir one’s heart.
Her lips were a pale cherry pink, looking very-very kissable. For some reason, that thought crossed Holden’s mind.
He smirked sarcastically. Always so detached, perhaps the drug from last night was still lingering.
With the slightest movement from him, Sarah woke up. She had been thinking about that twenty million dollars for next month’s expenses, so her sleep was very light.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself staring into Holden’s long, narrow eyes.
Sarah was startled.
She had actually fallen asleep and been caught by Holden!
“Goo… good morning,” she said in a small, guilty voice. “Uh, I… you…”
Holden’s smile was teasing. “You, me, what?”
Sarah’s gaze fell on his chiseled abs-exactly eight of them, with a prominent V-line that was quite attention-grabbing.
“Your abs are really nice,” she blurted out.
Holden’s smile froze, and he tightened his robe before heading to the bathroom.
Sarah finally let out a sigh of relief. If Holden didn’t mention docking her pay, he probably wouldn’t, right?
After a while, the hotel room doorbell rang.
Sarah answered it and saw a serious-looking man in a suit. “Lady, these are clothes for you and Mr. Holden.”
Sarah guessed he was Holden’s assistant or secretary and took the two large boxes from him. One pink box and one black box. She assumed the black one was for Holden and placed it on the bed.
Speaking towards the bathroom, she said, “Mr. Holden, your assistant brought you some clothes.”
He must have been in the shower because she could hear the water running clearly from outside.
“Okay,” came his slightly cold voice. “Just leave them outside.”
Sarah didn’t feel comfortable wearing yesterday’s clothes either. After a night, her outfit had become wrinkled.
She opened the box from the assistant and looked at the clothes inside.
It was a high-neck dress, elegant in color and exquisitely made, with intricate hand-embroidered patterns at the neckline and cuffs. It looked exceptionally luxurious.
Besides the dress, there was a smaller box inside. Sarah opened it and was surprised to find a complete set of jewelry.
Before Sarah found herself in this book, she had seen a bit of the world. She was once invited to a jewelry exhibition, so she could tell that this set of jewelry was worth a fortune.
Holden soon came out of the bathroom. He put on the suit his assistant had brought. When he came out again, he was dressed in a black custom-made suit, looking very imposing at nearly six and a half feet tall.
Sarah said, “This set of clothes…”
“It’s for you,” Holden replied. “Go inside and change. The jewelry is yours too.”
“Jewelry for me too?!” Sarah exclaimed.
There was a hint of amusement in Holden’s eyes. “Last night’s reward.”
“Can I ask how much it’s worth?”
“Forty million.”
“Oh, well, I won’t have it, that’s too expensive.”
Sarah was actually quite self-aware. She knew she didn’t have a job yet, and she was living off Holden, so she tried to accept everything he suggested. After all, he was her “sugar daddy”. She couldn’t be hypocritical and bite the hand that fed her, right?
She was already planning her future and considering her options.
The twenty million a month was written into their marriage contract, payment for their arrangement. Today’s jewelry wasn’t part of that.
Holden said, “If you don’t want it, just throw it away.”
Sarah, “!!!”
Sarah quickly said, “I want it! I want it!”
Holden chuckled inexplicably and stepped aside to let her pass. “Go inside and change. Fix your hair. We’re going to the Smith family today. You might face some grievances there, but for the sake of this jewelry, endure it.”
Sarah nodded. As long as it didn’t kill her, she’d endure anything for such expensive jewelry. Many people would jump at the chance to face some grievances for forty million.
