Flashback
William was lying on the ground, his body battered and almost lifeless. His clothes were torn and his senses were slightly clearer that day because he hadn’t been given drugs since morning. Despite that, he could barely summon any energy due to the lack of food over the past three days.
He was praying for some miracle to happen and for someone to come for his help. Suddenly, the cracking sound of the front door caught his attention. Weakly opening his eyes against the bright light that pierced his eyes against the bright light that pierced the darkness of the room, he focused on the figure that had entered, and to his surprise, it was a feminine figure when he was expecting his captor to visit him and tell him the reason for keeping him hostage.
“William” the soft feminine voice called out his name.
It wasn’t difficult for him to recognize the voice because he had heard it multiple times.
“Desy?”” He was surprised to know that she had come and he struggled to make sense of her presence in this unexpected situation. “What are you doing here?” He asked her, his voice came out hoarse.
“I have come here for you” she said as she walked toward him, her face becoming clearer with every step she took.
“For me?” William managed to sit up slightly, his body protesting the movement.
“This place could be dangerous for you. You shouldn’t be here”
“I have been in far more dangerous situations than this. No one can touch me. You know who my father and brother are,” she said as she sat in front of him to come face to face.
She gave him a water bottle, which she brought with her. Taking it from her, he took big gulps because he was in dire need of that. He felt the coolness soothe his parched throat and it also gave him the energy for which he was in need. Once the bottle was empty, he placed it aside, his mind racing with questions he wanted to ask her.
“If you knew my location and also that I was in need, then why didn’t you inform Ansell?” He asked the obvious question first.
“Ansell is on its way” she told him.
“If he is coming, then I think you should go back before something happens to you. And if Ansell was coming, you shouldn’t have taken this risk. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me. Just go and… ”
“Shhh” she shushed him by placing her finger on his lips before he could say anything further. “Let’s talk inside ”
“Inside?” His eyebrows squinted in confusion.
The situation was already confusing and her mysterious action only added to his bafflement.
She nodded and before he could comprehend the situation, she stood up, offering her hand for support. His eyes flicked between her hand and her face, which was still not clearly visible due to the darkness before he gave in because he trusted her as much as he trusted Ansell. Of course, they were good friends.
He stood up and they slowly made their way inside a room that Wiliam didn’t know was there.
Once inside the room, he could see her face clearly because now they were in light. He held him in and made him sit down on the bed before going back to lock the door, which took him by surprise, making him wonder about her motives and intentions.
“”Why are you locking the door?” He asked.
“So that no one could disturb us”
Before he could understand the meaning behind her words, she started tearing her own clothes. His eyes widened and a loud gasp escaped his mouth when he understood what she was doing.
“What are you doing Desy?” He asked her out of surprise, too stunned to make any move.
“The thing I sound have done before” she responded, tearing her T-shirt away completely.
His gaze remained fixed on her face, his eyes avoiding moving down her body. Suddenly, she began scratching at her neck, arms, and cleavage with her own nails, leaving him puzzled about her intentions.
“Have you gone crazy?” William exclaimed in shock.
“Yes!” ” Desy shouted, her voice quivering with intensity. “I have gone crazy” she continued, taking a step closer to him” “For you”
Her eyes were welling up with tears, and she seemed out of control.
“Just look at me Liam. What does Mia have that I don’t?” She asked, her voice filled with desperation.
William was a bit taken aback by listening to his girlfriend’s name from her mouth. The first thought that came to his head was, How does she know when not even Ansell knows about Mia?
He couldn’t get anything, and he could move from his place. Partly because he better knew how to maintain his distance in this situation and partially because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing in front of his eyes. Desy had always been a good friend from their time in the same class, and he had never felt any romantic interest in her. He was certain that she hadn’t felt that way about him either, so what had triggered this sudden change?
“Desy you are Ansell’s sister and I have never seen you that way” William told her.
“Indeed! I am his sister but you are his friend. There is no relation between us that could stop you from loving me the way you love and taking care of Mia as if she were the most beautiful girl in the world!’
He was too shocked to say anything.
“Earlier, I thought of harming Mia but there is no point in it because you are head over heels for her” she told him.
“You will not do anything to her, Desy. I am warning you” he said when he couldn’t bear the thought of Mia getting hurt.
“The mere thought of harming her infuriated you and here I am practically harming myself, but you are not doing anything” she came back, her eyes welling up with tears.
Yes, because he knew that if he went to stop her, then the story could be presented in any way he would be called as the culprit but little did he know that he had no option in that. His fate has already been written.
Suddenly, Desy’s actions took an even darker turn. She ripped her T-shirt off completely and revealed a hidden knife. The sight of the knife sent a surge of fear through him, and he watched in horror. She walked toward him with the knife and when he thought that she was going to kill him with that, she started hurting herself and a thick trail of blood spurted out of her once flawless and soft skin.
“Why the hell are you doing all this, Desy?” He asked in frustration, “What will you get out of it?’
Instead of replying to him, she climbed on the bed and pushed him back, overpowering him in his weakened state.
“Desy, What are you doing? Stay away!”
Even in his weakened state, he managed to crawl back. He wanted to maintain as much distance as he could. With the help of the knife, she tore her skirt slightly, along with his clothes.
Despite his efforts to crawl back, she managed to collapse on top him, pressing the knife to his throat, leaving him immobilized. His heart raced as he struggled to catch his breath, and he warned her with a weak voice.
“Move it away, Desy!”
Then, shockingly, she slowly moved the knife away from his throat and placed it against her own neck.
“Goodbye, Liam” she whispered, her eyes closed in what seemed like a final farewell.
He heard a loud car honk but his focus was diverted when she pressed the knife against her throat. He couldn’t let her die, so with the little energy left in him, he grabbed her wrist and flipped them around.
Now he was on top, and he pinned her wrist to the bed, struggling to keep the knife away from her grasp so that she couldn’t hurt herself anymore.
He was about to take the knife from her when suddenly the door to the room burst open.
“William, you bastard!” The roar of Ansell’s voice filled the room, sending shivers down William’s spine.
His heart raced as he looked at their position, he was practically on top of Desy, their clothes were torn, and the knife was now on the floor. It was an incredibly compromising situation, and he knew exactly how it would appear to Ansell.
The knife that Desy was holding dropped to the ground and her expression shifted to that of pain and agony. He was stunned to see tears in Desy’s eyes. She didn’t cry while hurting herself but now thick cry roll down the corner of her eyes as if not him but she were the victim.
William beloved that Ansell would give him a chance to clarify himself and the situation but he didn’t. Looking at the tears of his sister, Ansell’s anger exploded. He stomped towards them, forcefully pulled William away from Desy, and shoved him into the ground.
The suddenness of the situation caught William off guard, and before he could whirl his head around, Ansell tore a curtain and wrapped it around Desy to cover her decently.
Ansell then turned to William, his eyes red and blazing with pure rage as he started beating the shit out of him without listening to him once. The rage in Ansell’s eyes was something William had never witnessed before in all these years of their friendship. The punches came fast and hard, and William’s attempt to defend himself were futile against Ansell’s onslaught. He was met with blows that left him bruised and battered, the pain searing through his body.
He tried to protect himself but he couldn’t because he didn’t have that energy in his body and Ansell’s rage didn’t give him a even a second to breathe let alone clarity himself.
“Why?” Ansell’s voice was filled with venom as each word was punctuated by another punch.
“Ansell ‘ Desy cried from behind. “He touched me all over, he tortured me, he beat me, he hurt me with the knife”
Wiliam was stunned to hear Desy’s cries. Her loud sobs resonated in the whole room. They were so real and full of pain that he himself trusted her if he didn’t know the reality. He couldn’t believe what and why was happening to him.
Why is Desy doing this?
What will she get out of this?
The cries of Desy only intensified the anger of Ansell and he beat him so badly that he almost lost his consciousness. His eyes were becoming heavy and he had already lost a lot of blood.
Everything happened so fast that he couldn’t get hold of it. At that moment, he thought it was better to die starving than for Desy to come for his help. It seemed like it was all her plan, she abducted him, called Ansell, and by the time he arrived here, she had done all that.
” Listen to me Ansell, once, please,” he somehow managed to stutter.
Ansell stopped for a second.
“There is nothing like what you are seeing please give me a chance” William breathed heavily, almost begging to save himself.
“What you have to say in this William!”
“I… I…”
Before he could say anything he heard a loud bang of the gun which stopped him midway.
