The words made my blood cold and I was paralyzed in his arms. My eyes widened and my breath hitched in my throat. My heart was pounding so loudly in my chest that I was surprised it hadn’t come out.
He couldn’t do anything as such.
He couldn’t.
Can’t he see the truth in the eyes of my brother? How could he become so blind to the love of his sister that he can’t see the truth?
What kind of best friend was he?
“Now what are you waiting for?” He barked at his men. “Give me the gun!”
His words broke the chain of my thoughts and filled my body with newly found energy.
The first thing that came to mind after listening to Ansell’s words was to save my brother anyway. i was sure that today I would not get my brother’s life for free.
When his man came to give him the gun, I thrashed forward to go to William but my attempt was short-lived as Ansell’s grip tightened around me, yanking me back to his chest.
His arms encircled my waist, holding me in a vice-like grip as he effectively restrained my frantic movements with one arm.
I fought with an intensity I hadn’t known I possessed. It felt like some spirit had taken over me. I wanted my brother alive. I was thrashing in his hold so widely that his man had to come forward to help him but he again stopped them as he didn’t want anyone to touch me.
With one hand securing me, he gestured to one of his men to give him the gun, and a surge of teror coursed through me as reality set in.
“Ansell no! Please don’t! ” My voice was hoarse and loud.
I thrashed in his hold, my legs continuously trying to run to my brother in a futile attempt, I just wanted to stand in front of him because I was sure, no matter what, Ansell would not shoot me.
“No, Nara, he needs to learn a lesson. I was kind enough that I allowed him to live this long”
“He is saying that he hasn’t done anything ” I cried and threw my legs away, still trying my best to make myself free.
“All culprits say that they haven’t done anything but it doesn’t change a thing” he said, coming back. His voice was so loud that I practically shuddered.
“Ansell, please, give me one chance to look into this case and I swear if he turns out to be guilty. I will leave him to you do as you want. I will not interfere” I requested it for the last time, hoping against the hope that” everyone deserves a chance ” I cried.
“But not him!” He shouted, “The case is clear and I know that he is the criminal” his eyes shot sharply to William.
“Now what are you waiting for?” He shouted, “Give me the gun or I will shoot every last one of you!”
My feet stamped on the ground in distress as my cries echoed in the room. I couldn’t bear the thought of witnessing such a horrific scene. He was dead set on killing my brother and I couldn’t do anything.
My heart raced as he took the gun, and my eyes widened, almost popping out of their sockets, as I watched him load it right in front of me, assuring me that it was no empty like the last time.
“Let’s kill him” he chuckled.
And then he took my hands in his, locking our fingers, and my tears flowed anew as the cold touch of the gun’s metal met my skin. Panic rose within me.
He forced my fingers to curl around the gun’s grip, placing his hand over mine to secure the hold so that it didn’t drop down.
My ears turned red when I realised that he was planning to make me shoot my brother. My eyes flicked at William as he pointed the gun at him.
I could see silence on his lips, his eyes desperately waiting for me to pull the trigger so that he could be free.
Free from this world…
Free from the torture…
Free from all the false allegations others have put on him…
I am not sure what this monster has done to him; he has broken so much. I have always seen my brother as strong and protective, not so vulnerable and dejected.
“Please, Ansell, don’t!” My pleas were desperate, and my cries were filled with anguish.
“No, I won’t” he paused for a second. “You will” he said, bringing my finger to the trigger. ” It will also give you a lesson not to go against my orders, ensuring obedience from your side forever”
My body froze for a second. Obedience? I am already doing as he is saying.
“If you thought about going against my will, then you will remember this incident and the way you had to kill your own brother, which would stop you from even thinking about it” his voice was shaking with devilishness, making me shiver.
“Why are you doing this, Ansell? I am already following your orders” I cried.
“Not the way I want!” He replied.
What else does he want? The only thing that was remaining was to ask him if I could breathe or not.
“I want to break your spirit so that you can never think about going against me” he said dangerously in my ear.
“Do you think I am a fool?”
He moved around the gun we were holding and placed it on my temple.. It relieved me to know that, finally, my brother was not the target. I would be more than happy if he just pulled the trigger and killed me.
“I was going to kill him today and thought the best audience for my today’s target could be you” he chuckled. “Showing him your pictures of working in my house, him going fussy about it, you listening to my conversation with my man, asking the guard to allow you to step outside and making sure that you are following me” he trailed down the gunas he spoke, rested it on my jaw, and pressed it tightly. “Evening was planned to bring you are here so that I could make you understand that you have to listen to me and that you can’t go against my will because, after him, your parents will be my target ”
“I promise, I won’t, ” I cried. “I will do as you say, please ”
But it seems like my cries fell on deaf ears. He once again turned the gun towards my brother and I started thrashing in his hold once again.
His jaw were blazing with anger as his jaw clenched tightly.
My whole body shuddered, my eyes squeezed shut and I bucked my elbow when he pulled the trigger, which was followed by a loud, booming sound of the bullet.
