CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR
CATHERINE’S POV
I woke up feeling really weak and tired, my body still aches from the tears of yesterday but I couldn’t care less, my attention was focused on making Hayley pay for what she has done to my family , my mind was so glued to what Nikky said yesterday that I couldn’t care less if I felt pain all over my body.
I quietly got up from the bed and wore my slippers. I opened the door quietly so as not to wake Burke.
I wanted to discuss getting the poison with Nikky and I was sure in a hurry to put an end to Harley’s nuisance in my home .
As I walked through the corridors of the room my eyes met with that of Hayley’s , immediately she tried moving away to avoid any conversation with me but I definitely wasn’t having it, I knew I had to put the monster in her place .
“Hayley”, I called.
“Catherine I do not have you time, please you can as well go to where you’re going and let me mind the business that concerns me”. She replied fiercely.
“You should be ashamed of yourself, getting everyone around you killed because of your selfish desires, you’re a disgrace to the world”. I retorted, hissing at her.
“Hmmm I can’t remember getting anyone killed, the only thing I remember is that we both share the same man, it’s high time you deal with that reality” she bluffed .
“You’ll just stand there and act like you don’t know what you did, at least own up to your shit, if you’ve done it you should be proud that you have done it”, I yelled.
“Done what, I know you hate me this much Catherine but I didn’t ever think that your hatred for me will cause you to be delusional, grow up Catherine if you have anything to say you might as well just spill it” she said looking confused .
I didn’t want to buy her pretentious nature and I knew I had to say something, “you killed grandmother El for your own selfish reasons, like I still do not understand what did you ever stand to gain from killing her , she love you Hayley, your were just too consumed in your bitterness that you never got to see how much she cared for you”, I sobbed, feeling the pain, afresh again.
‘wait… . what, what’s happening here, I don’t understand. Can someone please explain to me?” She said looking confused .
” What don’t you understand, the fact that you killed grandma El, or that she is your grandma too”, I yelled, she was beginning to piss me off. She should at least own up to her shit .
“Me kill grandma El, I didn’t even know grandma El was dead, why would you accuse me of such a thing, grandma El was my family too you know”, she replied.
“Sure right, you’re a lying piss of shit, a murderer and a husband snatcher, you better watch what’s coming for you because I’m going to hit you hard Harley, I’m going to deal with you that you wouldn’t even believe it was I Catherine that did that to you” I threatened ruthlessly, although it was a threat that I was ready to act on.
“First off, stop with all these empty threats. Both of us know that I didn’t kill grandma El, and I’ll have you know that I’m always one step ahead of you Catherine. That’s why I’m smarter”, she gave a scornful laughter while leaning me still on the corridor .
Her actions pissed me but it is her audacity that has brought the rage out of me, “I’ll make Hayley pay,” I said to myself, sniffing the air harshly.
I quickly went to Nikky’s room and I was glad she was awake ..
“Mum, you should have at least knocked before walking in. courtesy demands that”, she said angrily.
“I know , I know my baby is growing but mummy here needs to talk to you about something urgently”, I said sitting by her bedside .
” Okay? She replied, adjusting herself.
” It is about what we discussed yesterday about Harley, giving her a potion is too mild in comparison to the harm she has caused us. I want her baby killed” I said.
“Mum”, Nikky yelled in shock. She looked perplexed. I could see the judgment in her eyes but she should not blame me , I’m just being a mother.
“My child dont be like that, and besides it’s the fastest and easiest way to get her off our radar, she is a nuisance to this family, don’t forget she also killed your baby sister, and it’s high time I took my revenge if we can just hire someone to… .. “.
” Mum , just stop it, stop everything you are saying, you sound ridiculous, I’ll advise you not to take that step because I’m not in support of it” . Nikky said, cutting me shut .
” Nikky please”, I begged .
” No mum this discussion is over”, “I have other things to do mum you can as well excuse me now”, she said angrily, turning her face away from me, disgusted by my suggestion.
I got up from the bed and I was very angry with Nikky, how can she be in support of someone that has caused me pain, tears clouded my eyes as I walked to the room, on getting to the room Burke was now fully awake I tried to clean up my teary eyes but he had already caught a glimpse of me crying.
“Babe, what is the matter? I hope you’re not still bothered about grandma El,” he asked , drawing me closer to himself.
I really did want to confide in him and tell him what was going on but I burst into more tears, ” it’s Nikky babe “, she hates me
“Why? what happened, did she yell at you ?”, he asked
“She doesn’t want to help us take out our enemy, I told her about hiring someone to kill Hayley for what she has done to us but she kicked against it, she kicked her own mother Burke,” I said, still pissed at Nikky.
“Catherine, I totally agree with her. you cannot just wake up to take the life of someone and besides she is your sister too”, he said, still playing the pity fucking card.
On hearing his statement I was fuming with anger.
“what? including you Burke, you’re in support of her. I knew you’ve always liked her, you should just go and marry her if that’s the case”, I said angrily.
I got up from his side of the sofa and stepped out of the room banging the door angrily.
At this point I knew the only person that can help me out on this mission is Ava. she had always been the one with the fierce heart. I summoned courage and left the Mansion to the dungeon where she is being held up in. I went to meet up with the devil.
The place stinks badly, I could barely move freely because of the rats tossing around the whole place .
When I finally got to her end of the bars she was staring directly at me, my heart skipped for a moment as our eyes met , she immediately gave me a faint smile from the corners of her lips .
“Catherine, it’s a pleasure to have you here”, she said, grinning wickedly, she didn’t even feel remorseful about what she had done.
“Thank… .. thank you, I need your help for something” I said not wanting to waste much time.
“I know, it’s always something, no one would ever come here to see the black sheep”, she replied sarcastically.
“What do you want”? she asked
“It’s Harley, I want her dead”, I said .
” Say no more, I’ll help you,” Ava replied, still smiling.
