CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FORTY-ONE
HARLEY’S POV
My heart raced immediately after I got Jaxon’s message.
“How could he threaten me that he was going to tell Burke about my pregnancy and the fact that Burke isn’t the father of my baby, that’s impossible a secret I’ve tried so long to keep, this child is going to secure a place in Burke’s life not that good for nothing Jaxon”, I said to myself as I quickly wore my very comfortable maternity gown and left the house,
In no distant time, I was at Jaxon’s apartment, and we were sitting on his couch drunk, I knew he had been wasted, but I didn’t care I walked up to him,
“Jaxon, Jaxon, what the hell is the meaning of that message you sent to me, why would you threaten me that way I have come to warn you not to ever do that in your life again”, I yelled.
Jaxon slowly got up from his couch, he moved towards my direction in his drunken state, I could smell the stench that came from his breath, it was worse than that of a dead rat, before I could make any further statement, I felt Jack’s hand around my neck, my back fixed to the wall, he was choking me.
“Jax, Jaxon, Jaxon… .. let me go you’re hur…. hurting me”, I gasped for air. I would have ripped his heart from his chest but I can’t, he told other people about my secret and if they find out he is dead, they will
Kill me.
” You agreed that you were going to give money once you had confirmed that you were pregnant Harley, it’s been weeks now and you’ve been living a lavish life in Burke’s Mansion, but I’m yet to get my money, and you call that text a threat, when I finally tell the world what you’ve been up to I bet you won’t be running your mouth like this”, Jaxon said.
His eyes fixed on my eyes all the while he spoke, I could hardly breathe because of bad breath.
“Jax.. Jaxon let go of me, you’re hurting me”, I yelled.
His hands finally came off, I felt the relief on my neck
“Ahhh Jaxon, do you want to kill me?” I said, coughing and panting.
“Leave my house Harley I’m giving you a few more days to pay me my money or I’m going to let the cat out of the bag, don’t come here unless you have my money”. He stood beside the door waiting for me to come out of the room.
My eyes searched everywhere in the room, I was in a state of confusion, “what have I gotten myself into?”, I said to myself, I walked out slowly out of the room, I stood beside the door close to him, “Jaxon, please can you give me some more time so we can seek this thing out amicably, please Jaxon”, I begged.
” Leave Harley, he said as he turned his face away from me.
I walked towards my car, my heart pounding with every step I took. I finally got into the car and I could feel the hot air, it was like the sun was directly on my skin, I couldn’t stop thinking.
“Shit shit, Harley what have you done to yourself, now you’re in a mess” I cursed.
I knew immediately that I needed to find Ava, even after what had happened to us she remained my last option, she was the only one who had the solution to my problem.
I immediately started the car and I was driving so fast, my head was covered with sweat even though the air conditioner was turned on. I drove as fast as possible but it looked like the journey was never going to end.
It was about a fifteen-minute drive before I could finally get to Ava’s prison. I know I haven’t been here for a good reason since she was imprisoned but now Is the right time to apologize and make amends.
Meeting Ava for help felt like the wrong thing to do but I had no other option, “she is the key”, I said to myself.
After checking in with the guards that held her custody I was finally taken to her prison.
“Av… Ava…”, I stuttered upon seeing her after a long time, my heart stopped for a bit, it felt like I was going to have a heart attack.
“Hayley, you have the nerve to show up here after all this time”, she scorned.
She looked unkempt like she hadn’t had a proper bath in weeks. If someone had told me she’s the Alpha’s sister I bet I would have slapped such a person for trying to belittle the Alpha’s blood.
” Ava, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for you to be here, I know I should have come earlier to apologize but I’m here now my dear friend I need your help, it’s a matter of urgency”, I said in a rather soothing way.
Before I could finish talking she burst out in laughter and it took me by surprise because none of what I said was funny rather it was troubling.
“Ava, did you get me, did you hear what I said?”, I asked.
“Always the usual Harley, the parasite that never wants to give, always leaching on other people, I should have known better that you are here because you want me to solve your problem”. She sneered, with a wicked grin on her face.
“I’m here for you also you know, however, scratch that, my pregnancy, I’m on the verge of finally losing your brother to that witch if my pregnancy is not protected, Jaxon has threatened to report me to everyone if I don’t pay up the money I owe him, and you and I know that I don’t have that kind of money, please help me with a plan Ava”. I pleaded, ignoring her sneers, and rude comments.
” Oooh well, that has to be your cup of tea”, as for me I’m just here locked up behind bars and I don’t have any solution to your problem, sort yourself out, Harley”.
” Ava, please I know you have a solution, please help me this one time my friend”, I begged.
” Leave here Hayley, the solution to your problem is not me”, she yelled.
I stood up and walked slowly away, I could see her stare at me all this while I moved, “Just help me Ava, I pleaded one more time.
“Hayley”, I suddenly heard her voice from behind me as I was about to exit the door.
“I’ll make Jaxon spill your secret”, she said as she walked away.
” Ava, No, nooo noo you can’t,” I said as I tried to talk to her but the guards dragged me out .
