CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN
CATHERINE’S POV
El and I have been trying different methods. To get my memory, but it has proven to be difficult because El has lost all her powers.
“I’m getting tired, El, I thought you said it’s the spell that is the major ingredient for witchcraft; you know the spell, but we have been stuck in this place for days,” I grumbled as I sat on the floor where El circled.
“I thought you that my powers were taken away from me. Did you think it to be a joke or something,” El groaned at me as she took a seat beside me.
There were a lot of spell books on the floor, but all were probably myths because El couldn’t form a suitable spell with them.
“Just shoot me, let me die since I can’t get my memory back,” I said sarcastically, intentionally wanting to get on El’s nerves, and I succeeded because she gave me a deadly glare.
“Don’t look at me like that. We have been trying different spells for two full days, and nothing came out of it; I’m tired, El,” I grumbled, getting off the ground and leaving the circle she had drawn for me to sit.
“Well then, go and meet your daughter; she is the most powerful seven moons old witch I have ever seen,” She said, without any emotions on her face, but I knew my words had hurt her.
“Look, El, I’m not trying to be mean or something, but… ”
“I told you, I don’t have any powers anymore, if I did you would have been going through a lot of pain trying to recall your memory at the moment but I don’t, you need to get that into your brain,” She said, angrily, going to seat at the corner of the room.
“I know that… ”
“You told me to try, and if it didn’t work out, you wouldn’t be angry, but now it’s a different fucking story,” She said, cutting me shut again.
“Firstly, don’t ever cut me shut again, El, and secondly I appreciate your effort. I’m just exhausted about the whole damn thing,” I said, taking a deep breath.
“I cut your shut when you are out of control, and I am fucking tired too; everything is exhausting,” She yelled in frustration.
I sat beside her at the corners of the room, and on the hard concrete floor, Nikky couldn’t even find a place with tiles.
We stared at the ceiling quietly, neither of us had anything to say at the moment.
“I’m sorry I took out my frustrations with you,” I apologized, finally breaking the silence after six minutes of silence.
El just scoffed, she looked at me with amusement in her eyes.
“What? I’m trying to make peace here; you should be thankful because I don’t think I apologized to anyone in the past, even if I can’t recall a huge amount of it,” I said, shrugging my shoulders, and El didn’t take her eyes off me, making me uncomfortable.
“You know you lived a fulfilled life with the love of your life; who isn’t that mother fucker called Jaxon,” she asked, and I nodded my head in approval.
I might not recall my memory, but I still feel a bond with someone, and it grows stronger every day like I am closer to the person, I felt the bond more the day I was with the strange man called Burke, that’s the reason I wasn’t to start a conversation with him but he scared me off by calling my name.
“I have the feeling the love of my life is Nikky’s father,” I said, bringing up the topic I once dressed.
I always wanted to know about Nikky’s father, but she never disclosed any information to me, afraid that it might trigger me.
“I don’t want to trigger your memory, but you are right, and in fact, you have met him once since you lost your memory and became a blank slate,” El said, and luckily, it didn’t trigger my memory.
“Is… is it Burke?” I stuttered because I remembered the look I saw on their face when I mentioned the stranger I saw was Burke.
“Fuck, I didn’t realize you would figure that out in less than ten minutes,” She said, Sarcastically, nodding her head.
“Come off it El, you knew I’ll figure it out,” I chuckled.
“You are damn right. I knew you would figure it out,” She confessed, and we burst into a round of laughter.
We laughed for a long time before trying to be serious again.
“Tell me about him, I mean Burke, was he good? I would ask if he was good-looking, but I have seen him, and all that can be said is that I have pretty good taste when it comes to men,” I complimented, and El laughed at my joke.
“I didn’t know him well, but Nikky adores him and if she adores him, you bet right he is a good person,” She said, and I smiled at her.
“Nikky hasn’t been here for two days, is there something wrong?” I asked, feeling Nikky’s absence.
Before El could reply to my question, the door swung open, and Nikky bounced inside the room, looking angry.
“Is there a problem?” I asked, trying hard not to laugh because it would fuel her anger.
Nikky didn’t give a reply; rather, she kept checking the pile of spell books we had on the floor when we were trying to find the right spell to trigger my memory.
El and I looked at each other afraid that Nikky would find out what we were doing behind her back.
“Put those spell books back and don’t read them,” El instructed, but Nikky kept checking the piles of books.
“I felt that a spell had been summoned here, I doubted it, but I came here to be sure,” She said, still searching for all the books.
“You need to stop searching El’s spell books,” I scolded, going towards Nikky.
“Spell from the dead?” Nikky asked, reading the spell Book that was opened down.
“Were you trying to trigger my mother’s memory behind my back?” Nikky asked, with a voice of betrayal.
