CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND ONE
AVA’S POV
Nikky was rushed to the health center in the pack, but I was certain she wouldn’t survive; Tafana kills very fucking fast.
“We did it again,” I said to Harley as we cheered for Nikky’s death with our glasses filled with alcohol.
“How did you pull this through? I thought it would be risky,” Harley praised me, taking a drag from her cigarettes and spraying it in the air.
“Nothing is too risky for me, Harley; I play this damn game fucking well,” I whispered, and we giggled together.
“Well, I just poured some tafana in my drink, knowing she would want to play smart and switch the drink,” I explained, remembering how cute her face was as she bled.
“And she exchanged your glasses if wined and ended up taking the tafana?” Harley asked although it was a rhetorical question.
I smiled and nodded at her, Nikky thought she was smart, but I think I’m smarter.
“Burke isn’t going to take it lightly if his little girl dies,” Harley said, as a sudden realization.
I knew that their wedding might be postponed because of Nikky’s death, but we shouldn’t get caught and have the wedding postponed.
“He is man; he is the fucking Alpha, but not for long, though. Burke would take care of himself,” I said, tapping Harley’s exposed lap.
“Yes, but he would not want to get married again; he would want to moan about Catherine and that little witch, Nikky,” She said, still taking a drag from her cigarettes.
“The wedding would hold Harley, I will make sure of that,” I assured her.
“I know that Ava; I just feel awful for killing a child; maybe she didn’t know anything and was just in a grieving era,” Harley said, and I rolled my eyes at her.
“Come off it, Harley, we have done worse than this, and aside from that, Nikky knew something, and she was going to say it on your wedding day; I felt it,” I said, and Harley nodded her head, still not convinced.
“I told you, she was at a coven; Nikky being there alone makes us exposed; we get almost all our help from the witches, imagine she was already friends with El; we would be in big fucking trouble,” I yelled, trying to explain, trying to be logical with Harley.
“Fuck, El is a big problem and we need to kill her,” Harley said, sipping her wine.
El is one of the oldest witches in the coven, she has helped us with a lot of things, but all of a sudden she refused to make the syndrome for us and Harley implicated El by exposing her to the coven, and stripped her of the title she held in her coven because she refused our request.
We did the syndrome from another witch, who we killed on the spot because we don’t fucking trust her; Harley didn’t kill El because El is related to her in some fucking way I don’t understand.
But El being alive means we are exposed; she isn’t on our side anymore.
“Yes, we need to kill El, but we can’t because it takes a miracle to kill an elder in the Coven,” I said, sternly, my eyes warning Harley not to do anything stupid.
“Then I hope for a miracle,” Harley said, grabbing her car keys.
“Don’t do anything stupid, Harley,” my voice sounded angry, but Harley didn’t budge a bit; her mind was made up, she wanted to kill El, and I didn’t give a damn about it, as long as it doesn’t implicate me.
“Goodbye Ava,” She said and left the room.
“Don’t involve me in that,” I yelled after her, still taking a drag of my cigarette.
“In what?” I heard Diago ask as he entered my room without knocking.
“What the fuck are you doing here? Have you come to see how wet I get from your touch again?” I asked, rolling my eyes, but he just smiled at me.
“I have done that already, and I know your pussy is a little whore for me,” He said, with his husky voice; my cheeks flushed red, and I hoped he hadn’t noticed, or he would use it against me.
“Are you involved in murder, Ava Michelson?” Diago asked and I was surprised about his question.
“What… what… ” I stuttered, not able to form a good sentence.
“I know you are up to something Ava,” Diago said, coming closer to where I stood.
“I’m not up to anything, Diago; if I were, you don’t have a fucking proof to your accusations, so Burke isn’t going to believe you,” I stated, sounding harsh.
I don’t know how Diago found out about this, but I knew I had a sly in my midst. And Diago knows this is fucking bad.
“It’s not all about Burke, it’s also about the board members, the board members would back me up, and Burke would have no choice but to take you to North fucking Turret,” He whispered into my eyes, his hot breath brushing my neck.
“Like I said Diago, you can’t prove that,” I retired, pushing him far from him. I don’t think I’ll be able to stop him if he tries to touch me again, so pushing him was the best option.
“I’m not afraid Diago, bring all you have got,” I said, smiling sheepishly.
“Oh, don’t get me wrong Ava, I have got nothing,” he said, raising his hands, making the smile on my face wipe.
“Then what gives you the right to accuse me?” I asked, confused.
“Because I saw you buying Tafana in the pack’s market, and I saw you pouring it in a cup of orange juice,” He stated and my mouth fell open.
“I… I…,” I stuttered again, as fear gripped me. Diago knows my dirty little secret.
“And suddenly Nikky was rushed to the hospital, the doctor says a large amount of Tafana was found in her system,” He said, walking towards the door.
I didn’t go to the hospital because I wanted to celebrate Nikky’s death before Burke got back from the hospital.
“You sucked at your job, though; the little girl’s alive,” He said as he left my room.
Tafana is the fastest and most risky way to die, how is it possible that the little witch survived? What trick has she played on us?
