CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
HARLEY’S POV
We were at an abandoned warehouse near the city, and I was panting heavily; I couldn’t believe I would be able to escape Burke’s men, Scott was helpful, and we passed through the back.
Almost all my men are dead, that I know but at least Scott is alive.
“Boss,” Scott yelled from the other side of the warehouse.
“What’s the problem?” I yelled back, going towards the warehouse, only to see Travis’ lifeless body on the floor, at the corner of the door.
He was looking pale, and it seemed like his heart was detached from his chest because of the hole in his chest.
That was the only way to kill Travis, by removing his heart from his chest because the witches in the coven had fortified him, very well. That he won’t be able to die easily.
Well, my relationship with the witches is very strong because my mother was a witch, a strong witch before she died, and I am a half-witch as well, but I have never practiced witchcraft for no reason in particular. I just love being a wolf.
“What happened to Travis? I thought he was in the house at the outskirts of the coven,” I asked angrily, remembering that I did not see Travis before escaping Burke’s men.
“We thought so too, boss, but this doesn’t seem like Burke. He is not that smart to go know our hideout; I think you were being followed,” Scott said, scratching the back of his head. He looked at Travis’s body, and I could see the sadness in his eyes.
I won’t blame him, Travis and Scott became best friends after Burke crowned Travis a betrayal. Scott and Travis had done a lot of things together and they vowed to kill Burke and bring back Travis’s Children to the pack.
” You know who did this to Travis,” I said, faking anger. I was not happy about the fact that Travis died, but that doesn’t mean I care about his well-being; he is just another useful asset to me.
Seeing how much Scott cared about him, I might use it as an advantage, so that revenge can flow strongly in Scott’s blood.
“Yes, I do, Boss,” he said, with his eyes red, his hand formed a fist, and Scott would pounce on any prey he saw around; his fingernails were already getting long; that was the kind of anger I wanted to see.
“The prey isn’t here, Scott; the prey is in Burke’s house. Catherine is the cause of all this,” I whispered into Scott’s ears, and his anger grew hearing the name Catherine.
A smile crept to the corners of my lips, knowing that today might be the last day for Catherine since she had refused to leave my man.
“Now calm down, big guy; you can’t get revenge on Travis like this; you are way too angry,” I said jokingly. I loved the way his anger grew each time he heard my voice.
“Tell me what to do, Boss; I’ll do anything to avenge Travis,” Scott said, breathing heavily.
I could hardly hear his voice; it was more of his wolf’s voice speaking, and he couldn’t go to Burke’s Mansion if he transformed.
“You need to calm… ” My voice trailed off when Scott’s lifeless body landed on the fall next to me.
“What the fuck is happening?” I yelled, as one of my men pushed me to the side and the bullet directed at me hit the wall.
“Boss, you have to Dock,” One of my men said, and I did as I was told, and the arrow aimed at me landed on the wall again.
I ran to the other part of the wall. Today’s occurrence had never happened; Scott was right; Burke wasn’t that smart to know my hideout, Catherine was still recovering, and Ava was too foolish to follow me.
“I think Ethan’s alive,” I said to myself, hitting my forehead.
“Boss, we are surrounded by Burke’s men; there is no escape room; what do we do?” Nathan, one of my loyal men asked.
Normally, I always have a plan, but today, I don’t. I was still in shock that my two major assets were dead and Ethan was alive.
“Why would Ethan suspect me? ” I asked myself, ignoring Nathan’s question.
We are going to get caught, I will be caught, and all my plans will fail, I will not be Luna, I won’t get the power I have always craved for, and I will be banished.
“Fuckk,” I yelled, realizing the mess I was in.
“Boss, we need a plan. They are entering the warehouse, and we will be found soon,” Nathan said, and he wasn’t wrong; I was already hearing footsteps approaching.
Transforming isn’t an option because they outnumber us; I looked around, and only eight of my men were alive, out of fifty.
“We need to stay Calm, Is it Ethan that is with them?” I asked, doubting the fact that Ethan accompanied this ambush.
“No, boss, when I checked, they were accompanied by a woman, her face I can’t recall seeing before, but it seems she is close to Burke,” Nathan replied, and I was in shock.
“I thought Catherine was still sick,” I said to myself, but I felt some relief.
I have Catherine’s secret, I would threaten to tell Jaxon about her little Affair with Burke, and hopefully, that fears her, and she would not say a word about Travis and Scott.
“Fair enough, I think we are safe,” I told my men and I could see relief in their faces. They have all their trust in me.
The men entered where we were, and they surrounded us. We were in the middle, and I was searching for their leader, but I could not see her.
“Where the hell is Catherine?” I asked fearlessly; something good about me is that I fear nothing, not even death.
Suddenly, a lady came from the crowd and stood in front of me with a mask on; before I could ask her to remove the mask, she unmasked herself, and my mouth fell open.
“Ava?” I said, in the form of a question.
“Hello best friend, did you miss me?” She replied to me with a wicked smile at the corners of her lips.
