CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
HARLEY’S POV
Catherine is a real pain in the ass. I have been standing in front of Ethan’s door to listen to Burke and Catherine’s conversation, but they are talking in a hushed tone, which makes me angry.
I have always wanted just a night with Burke, even if we don’t have sex, he just acknowledged me for that night, but that was a mere wish, as Catherine is getting all I ever wanted.
“Bastards,” I said, trying to think of a plan to break what blossomed between them; the poison I placed on her dress did not affect her; if not, she would not be falling helplessly in love with him after their past.
The poison was gotten from a great witch, Elphaba, who lives near my pack. She says the poison should be rubbed on her dress and she would never see Burke as a mate, but no see is even seeing him as a husband.
“What are you doing, man,” one of the guard’s voices caught me off guard, making me knock on the door mistakenly.
“Shit, are you fucking happy? I’m not doing anything,” I half yelled at the Guard who returned to his post almost immediately.
I prayed that they had not heard the knock on the door because there was silence coming from their room when initially I was hearing chairs moving and little moans, probably out of anger and frustration.
But my prayer fell on the moon goddess’s deaf ears as the door opened wide, revealing a shirtless Burke and Catherine, with her face flushed and her lips slightly swollen. It was like they were making out.
The difference is that they were actually making out, Catherine was kissing my fucking man.
“Is there a problem Harley? ” Burke’s husky voice broke the deadly stare I was giving Catherine and I hated it.
” Yeah, Harley, is there a problem,” Catherine asked the same question, trying to arrange her scattered hair, forgetting no matter what she did, she still smelled like sex.
“No, what about you Catherine? Smells like you are cheating on your man, Jaxon. Are you alright with that?” I asked, giving her a wicked smile, the discomfort in her face fueled my inner happiness.
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” She lied, looking uncomfortable.
” I bet you know,” I said, loving how uncomfortable she looked at the moment; she deserves all kinds of discomfort.
“Is that what you came to tell us, Harley, or where you eavesdropping?” Catherine asked, resting her hands on her waist, making her rounded breast obvious. I could see how Burke kept stealing glances at her breast, and it fueled my anger.
I did not notice she knew I was eavesdropping and I don’t care either.
“I was eavesdropping because I knew you were about to cheat on your man, you whor… ”
“Don’t call her that, Harley, “Burke’s voice warmed before I could complete my statement. His voice was filled with anger, and the anger was directed towards me and I hated it.
“Fuck both of you,” I yelled and left them alone, as tears filled my eyes; if their love blossomed that this, then Catherine would be Luna and not me.
While growing up, I always wanted power, fame, and wealth but got none because I was raised by my poor parents, who had to sell my sister because they couldn’t afford to feed her.
When my parents died, they left me with nothing. I had to Carter for myself, and I began to make a living for myself by doing both Legal and illegal stuff; now I have the money; I only need Fame and Power.
I need to be the Luna of Crescent Park, and no one will stop me, not even Catherine or Burke.
I walked briefly into Ava’s room and found her having sex with one of the guards. I cleared my throat, and it both jolted them from the land of pleasure.
“You can knock sometimes Ava,” she said to me, calling me by her name, something we always loved doing.
Ava kissed the guard before sending him away.
“You brother’s personal Guard, Ava?” I cautioned her, and she rolled her eyes in response.
“Don’t act like my mum and tell me why you are here,” she said, filling her glass with some alcohol.
“I caught Catherine kissing your Brother again, they might even be having sex now,” I yelled, and Ava almost choked on her wine.
“Are you serious? Catherine has someone she loves back in Chicago; why will she cheat on him with a guy who broke her heart years ago?” Ava asked as if I had the answer on my palm. The only Luck I had was that Ava was my best friend and would do anything for me; getting Burke wouldn’t be that hard.
Ava was not always my best friend, when her mum died, we became friends because I wanted power and fame, after Sereca was caught cheating on her husband, we became best friends
“Why don’t we write to Jaxon in Chicago that Catherine is cheating on him?” Ava said, pacing in her room.
“That would be useless because I already sent people to check what Jaxon is doing; he is still cheating on Catherine and maltreating her children; the letters he sends every weekend are not from Catherine’s children,” I said, snatching the drink from Ava’s hand and taking a huge gulp from it.
“What? That’s nasty,” she said, rolling her eyes, Ava always hated men, even if she was straight as fuck.
“Yes, and it would hurt her greatly, that is why I haven’t told anyone about it, I want Catherine to go there and see for herself after Burke has rejected her here,” I said, smiling wickedly. I could only imagine how pained Catherine would look and the image was satisfying.
“What if she gets into Burke’s head and he doesn’t marry you again?” Ava asked, her eyes filled with terror.
” That won’t happen because I have a plan,” I said, smiling.
