Chapter 72

“Shit! A wolf was here.” Zayne slammed his fist against the wall. He gritted his teeth and tapped his feet on the ground.
“We can trace her scent, she probably might be near.” Frederick uttered. Seeing Zayne’s bitter expression, he moved towards him and said to him;
“Was it Killian?” Frederick asked him.
Zayne shook his head and took a deep breath.
“No, it can’t be him. The scent is not as strong as Killian’s but he is definitely a strong werewolf.” Zayne mumbled. He glanced through the window and sighed.
“I have got to act fast.” He ran out of the room and raced down the stairs. Frederick ran after him, asking what he was up to.
Zayne glanced quickly at the environment, slowly opened the car’s trunk and carried out Angela’s body.
“I have to return to the Werewolves’ land right now. Please be on a lookout for Sara and notify me if by chance you come across her.” Zayne scoffed. He pulled out all the accessories on Angela’s body and wiped off her makeup. He placed the body back into the trunk and entered the car.
“Let’s go.” He started the car and Frederick also hopped in. Even though he had a lot of questions on his mind, he decided not to disturb Zayne about them.
After about thirty minutes, they arrived at the lake side which connected the Werewolves’ world with the human world. They both alighted, and Zayne dragged Angela’s body out of the car.
“What do you need this for?” Frederick finally asked, placing his hands on his waist.
“I need it to send a message to Killian. I want to make Killian believe that Sara’s dead. That way, he can totally forget about her and then Sara can be mine only.” He replied to him.
Frederick was even more surprised.
“And how do you plan on doing that?” He asked, his brows furrowed in confusion.
“You don’t need to worry. I will get it done.” He replied, tying the body onto his back. He turned to Frederick and smiled at him.
“Bye.” He waved him goodbye and dived into the lake.
Frederick watched till Zayne was completely out of sight. He took a deep breath and walked back to the car.
Meanwhile, Zayne arrived at the red moon pack in little time. He called one of the elders that was well versed in wood carvings.
“Can you make her look like Sara? I don’t want to use the fake human skin, Killian has already learned about that.” Zayne said to the elder.
The elder took a brief look at the body and nodded his head.
“I remember how Sara looks, and I should be done in an hour.” The elder replied. Zayne smiled and thanked the elder for the favor. He left the room and rested his head on the lush grasses, staring at the moon. The full moon is in a few days’ time, and if he couldn’t get Sara, the whole of the red moon pack would be in trouble.
The moon priestess of the red moon pack walked to him and greeted him.
“My Alpha.” The moon priestess said. Zayne raised his head and sat up.
“What brings you here, honored one?” Zayne asked, surprised by the moon priestess’ late night visit.
“I can sense that something is troubling your mind. Is it about Sara?” The moon priestess asked.
Zayne’s eyes squinted dark and he bit his lower lips. He sighed, and nodded his head.
“Actually, you are not a bad person and you shouldn’t view yourself as one. All that you’ve done was for the sake of the red moon pack. I know it hurts to see the people you love and care for die one after the other.” The moon priestess consoled him. Zayne remained rather quiet, staring at the luminosity sky while he nodded his head.
“Even though the moon goddess might provide us with her guidance, we can also choose our own ways and make our decisions. Also, the moon goddess wants me to tell you that it might not necessarily be Sara, as long as you have a mate before the next full moon, then the prophecy will be annulled.” The moon priestess continued. Zayne stared at the moon priestess for the first time, curiosity written all over his face.
“You mean my people won’t perish if I get another mate?” Zayne asked, as if he hadn’t heard the moon priestess correctly.
“Exactly.” The moon priestess replied.
Zayne moved his eyes back at the sky, while a series of thoughts raced across his mind. He pondered on whether he should give up on Sara, but then that would mean he will be losing to Killian, which he never wanted since they were rivals from childhood.
“I will leave you to ponder on the issue, I will get going now.” The moon priestess bowed and took her leave.
About five minutes later, the elder that was helping with the carving approached Zayne.
“It’s done.” Zayne could feel a rush of warmth crept across his mind as the words flowed into his ears. He stood up instantly and ran inside. As if it were magic, the body had been transformed from the lively and fun Angela to the simple and gentle Sara.
He smiled at himself and he nodded his head in satisfaction.
“Perfect!” He exclaimed.
He then beckoned to some guards who rushed towards him instantly.
“I have a job for you guys, and you must carry it out smoothly.” He said in a cold tone to the guards.
The guards crossed their arms on their chests and chorused;
“Yes, my Alpha.”
“Carry this body and dump it in front of the blue moon’s pack house. Remember, hide your scents and your cover must not be blown.” Zayne warned and the guards nodded their heads.
“Alright. You can go now.” Zayne said, watching the men carry the body and depart.
“Killian, I hope you appreciate this huge gift.”
