Chapter 60

Book:The Alpha King's Hybrid Mate Published:2025-2-8

Elders rushed into the pack house for an emergency, and news of Lydia’s death flew across the whole of the blue moon’s pack. Every part of the pack was in disarray that early morning, especially since she died in their Alpha’s room.
“Doesn’t he have a Luna? I never knew our Alpha could be so promiscuous and heartless that he would bring another woman into his matrimonial home.” A woman said immediately the elders rushed by.
“Didn’t you hear?” Another woman asked the first woman. She glanced at her surroundings, ensuring she wasn’t watched by anyone. She moved closer to the other woman and covered her mouth with her palm.
“Luna Sara was accused of murdering one of the elders and was sentenced to death by the Alpha himself. She escaped punishment and is currently nowhere to be found.” The other woman explained while the first woman gasped in awe.
“I get it now, that’s why he got another woman to be his Luna. Who would have thought that the woman would die in his room? Such a pathetic Alpha.” The first woman sympathized, heaving a sigh as another set of elders rushed to the pack house.
Meanwhile, in the pack house, the atmosphere in the throne room was heated. Several elders paced the room back and forth, while some hit the grounds with their feet occasionally.
“Can you all stop being dramatic? Let me think, you are giving me a headache.” Killian said to the elders. Most of the elders lowered their heads and had nothing to say to Killian.
It was Cerebrus, who took the initiative to talk. After all, he was Jared’s close friend, and they were both in the same cahoot.
“It’s not that we have nothing to say, my Alpha. But we all know Jared’s temperament, he won’t take it slightly if he learns of his daughter’s death.” Cerebrus said while a hush of murmur swept across the hall.
“I am the Alpha; I am the ruler of the land. Should I be afraid of Jared? Besides, I don’t even know how his daughter appeared in my room, talkless of how she died. I have to investigate this carefully and give an answer to everyone, especially Jared.” Killian said to the elders, but his speech was immediately accompanied by Jared’s harsh tone.
“No need for that, Killian; I already know who the killer of my daughter is,” Jared muttered as he walked briskly into the pack room. Hundreds of soldiers marched behind him, causing the palace guards to draw their swords to protect Killian.
“How dare you? Did you just call the Alpha by his name?” One of the palace guards said while Jared gave him a smirk. He walked to the guard and smiled at him.
“You sure know how to talk, but it’s a pity that you won’t be able to talk anymore.” He said mischievously, drew his sword, and stabbed the guard in front of everyone, leaving everyone in utter shock.
The guard groaned in pain before crashing to the floor and breathing his last.
“What an audacity! How could you murder someone right in front of me?” Killian fired at him. He was feeling a bit weak, so he couldn’t attack Jared and could only reprimand him with his words.
“What a joke! It’s nothing when you and your Luna murdered people, but it’s a crime for me to kill someone now, right?” He said with a sarcastic tone, causing all the elders to panic.
Jared was a strong general with many achievements; he had quite a number of fans and people who loved him. Usurping the throne right now would be very easy for him and Killian knew it very well, especially since he was still weak.
“You! I didn’t kill your daughter, and I am sure that Sara didn’t kill the elder also.” Killian argued while Jared burst out laughing.
“You are pathetic, Killian. First, you brought a woman from an enemy pack and made him the Luna of our pack. Isn’t that a slap to the face of all the girls in our pack? Also, she was Zayne’s former mate, who knows if she was sent to spy on us?” Jared continued, while some of the elders murmured in agreement with him. He was expanding his horizons with his words, attracting more elders to his side.
“Killian,” Jared called out and moved closer to the Killian.
“You don’t remember me, right? But it’s a pity that I remember you. All the things you did to me, I must repay you in folds. When we were small, you caused my mother’s death. You knocked out the candle, burning my mother to death, and this scar…” he paused, pointing at the scar on his forehead.
“… I was burned by the fire. I was only five then, but I could remember everything vividly. It was you, you took away everything that I hold dear from me, and it’s time to give you a taste of your medicine.” Jared revealed, leaving everyone in shock.
“You…you are Arnold?” Killian asked in shock.
“So what if I am? I have lived all my life in pain and agony; I was bullied by the kids across the street, and I suffered for not having someone to take care of me; all of that was because of you.” He screamed, pointing his fingers at Killian.
“I am sorry, Arnold. I…”
“Don’t call me Arnold. I am Jared. Only by bearing Jared will I remember all the pain I went through, only that name will motivate me to pay you back all that you caused me.” He roared, interrupting Killian.
“Okay, Jared, I am sorry. I can’t remember anything about what you said, and if that’s true, I promise to compensate you for my mistake. But I know nothing about Lydia’s death; you have to trust me.” Killian pleaded, but Jared gave him a mischievous smile.
“Don’t worry yourself. I already have evidence and witnesses. Just prepare to descend the throne and give up your position as the Alpha of the pack.” Jared said, piquing everyone’s interest.
He clapped his hands and a well-respected lady walked in, leaving everyone in utter shock.
“Moon priestess?”
