NERTHUS
“What is it that you wanted to tell me?” I ask, a little doubt nagging at my senses fearfully.
He sighs, but his fingers continue to caress my hair gently. “There have been a few occurrences in my territory. I guess that we have someone trying to start a riot and take over my business. I am sorting out rats like I never have before, but new ones keep spreading like wildfire.”
“My King is under attack?” I joke lowly, trying to cover up my discomfort. I hate the fact that the sole thing I am instinctively trained to do is to be flirtatious, and I shake my head. “I’m sorry about that. How bad is it?”
Arawn chuckles, pulling himself closer as he wraps his hand around my body, letting go of my hair. “I don’t know yet. But I never had such troubles, to be honest. I always got to stop them at the starting line. Now they are running a full race.”
“Sounds like bad news,” I whisper, and he nods with another sigh.
“Is there something I can do?” I ask, making him shake his head.
“Don’t worry, beautiful. I have it under control. I’m sure that we will wipe them off our territory soon enough,” he kisses my temple, and I hum.
“I never worry when it comes to you solving a problem,” I grin up at him, making him laugh. He studies my face, making it hard to keep my forced smile up. “But please be careful, will you?”
He nods, and my heart squeezes. “Sure!”
Something undecipherable flashes through his eyes, making him distort his face only for a second before catching himself again.
“What’s wrong?” I ask, gulping down the lump forming in my throat. “Is there something more?”
He shakes his head, kissing my forehead. “No. It’s just that I never had someone caring for me like that.”
“Does that bother you?” I ask lowly, and he smirks.
“Not one bit. It feels… nice,” he answers, and I push out a relieved breath.
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I hug myself close against his chest. “Good, because I would never survive losing you.”
I cringe as I close my eyes, my voice fading into a whisper. “You are everything I have.”
“You would be fine. You have Jenna, Gigi and Danny,” he says, caressing my back.
“That’s not the same,” I groan.
He hums, and at me emptying my heart to him, he decides to mock me, “Maybe Owen will still be available.”
“I can’t believe you,” pushing me off his chest, I try to get away from him, but he tightens his grip around me, pulling me back into him.
Lifting my chin with his finger, he gets me to meet his intense gaze, “I’m not going anywhere, beautiful. You won’t get rid of me so easily.”
“Idiot,” I pout, blinking the tears out of my eyes.
He laughs, kissing me softly. “As if I were to give up so easily and have the good guy have you.”
Laying my head back against his chest, I enjoy him hugging me close as he keeps showering me with kisses.
“I have a gala dinner next week. On Saturday evening. Do you want to accompany me?” he asks, and I look up at him. “As my girlfriend, I mean.”
My heart risks shattering in my chest as I can’t seem to cope with those words. “I’d love to.”
“Great,” he exhales deeply, making me giggle to myself at the idea that he might have been nervous to ask me.
As the turmoil in my head catches up with me, breaking through my happy haze, I cuddle into him even more. He must be sensing something as he hugs me tighter, his fingers sinking into my flesh.
“Aren’t you afraid that your father might have been right?” I finally ask as the intrusive thought gets the best of me.
“What do you mean?” he asks back calmly.
Taking a deep breath, as if I needed it to gather courage, I answer him, hoping to sound as objective as possible. “That you might look weaker because of me. That you create the impression of being vulnerable.”
He presses his lips against my hair, his deep baritone vibrating from the top of my head and down my spine. “He was never right. He was an idiot. And if anything, you will make me look stronger.”
Shifting, he pushes me into the bed, getting on me. He kisses my chest, moving up, trailing my shoulder, neck and jawline with kisses. “Also, you already make me feel invincible.”
I gasp as he bites into my neck, surely leaving a mark. “And everybody knows what hell awaits them if they were to harm something that is mine.”
He gets between my legs, spreading me fully for him. My sore core rebels, mixing with my desire, making my pussy throb. “I would be stupid to let you go…”
I moan as he pushes into me, his teeth nibbling at my ear, “Seeing that you fit me so perfectly.”
“Oh, fuck,” I scream as he starts moving teasingly, keeping his pace slow on purpose.
“Arawn,” I plead him. “Please.”
“What, my love?” he asks with a grin, getting my heart to burst in my chest.
“Move… faster… please,” I moan, making him smirk at me.
Lowering his mouth to my breasts, he sucks my nipple between his teeth. “Do you have feelings for me, Nerthus?”
“Yes! Yes, I’m sorry,” I moan, making him chuckle.
He circles my other nipple with his tongue, while I go insane at the intensity of feeling him in me. I whimper, squirming beneath him as he seems to enjoy my pleasurable torture.
He bites into my nipple, pulling it with his teeth gently, before letting go of my breasts and moving back up to me. My nails sink into his shoulders as he trails along my throat with his tongue. “So, if these problems lead to the downfall of the King, and I had to get away. Would my Queen come with me?”
I meet his gaze, my throat constricting at the intensity of the situation.
“To the world’s end and even beyond that, my King,” I whisper, his smile making my heart flip.
