NERTHUS

I feel exhausted physically and mentally as I lean into my seat in a meeting room where Luciana left me with a few snacks and a few water bottles after I collapsed in her office.
I’m at the top of my form these last few days.
Her PA, who hates me to her guts, even got to play Nana with me and brought me a soothing tea. I must admit that it felt good, but her pitiful look had me boiling.
This is my new low.
Rotating my phone on the table while pursing my lips, I contemplate whether I should write Jenna to share the news. Just as I decide that I’ll do it no matter what, I spot a woman passing from the corner of my eye.
Oh, just who I needed.
“Oh, Helga, Hi!”
A pretty brunette with a cute round face and big doe eyes turns to look at me confused. It takes a moment before a wide smile appears on her face.
“Amber, hi. How are you?”
“Fine, thank you. Listen, I wanted to talk about a client with you. Have you got a moment for me?”
“Sure.” She nods, and I gesture her to a place at the table, “Take a seat.”
“Erm… it’s about a guy named Rodberg.” I say, closing the door behind me.
I flinch as she scoffs. “Ugh, that prick. Were you his last one?”
“Yeah. I met him three nights ago.”
She takes her seat, lifting her brows. “Oh, man. I’m so sorry. I guess Stacy dodged a bullet for now.”
“Damn, Helga, what happened?”
She shifts in her seat, tilting her head at me. “Wow, you are really tough. I still have a lot to learn. We were very bothered by the fact that he practically took us at the door before sending us away.”
“What do you mean by tough?”
She snickers and takes a chip from my snack selection. “Did you get the rules?”
“Yeah.”
“Well… I think that says everything.”
I laugh as she munches happily. “Those were sort of maniacal, indeed.”
I clear my throat before I add, “but he didn’t persist on those.”
She looks at me wide-eyed. “He didn’t?”
As I shake my head, she groans, rolling her eyes. “What a psycho. So, he talked to you? You could actually look at him?”
“Well… he didn’t exactly talk to me.” I say, chuckling and turning the package of chips to me to take one. “But yes, he insisted that I look at him in the bedroom.”
“In the bedroom?” She lifts her brow and I nod.
“Uh-huh. Why?”
She scoffs, taking another snack. “I waited for him in the bedroom. But as he showed up he told me to go in the other room. That was quite the only thing he said apart from the ‘stop staring at me’-thing.”
I glare at her agape as she continues. “There was like a table and he had me bend over that, took what he needed to and then I was free to go.” She laughs, adding. “He didn’t even tell me to leave. He just left.”
“Oh, my God!”
“Yeah. And oh, as he told me to strip, I started to, you know, undress and he simply distorted his face, telling me that just losing my panties and skirt would be enough.”
“Oh, no. He didn’t.”
“Haha. He really wasn’t interested in me and I first thought, well, he has a new girl every now and then. Maybe I just happened to not be his type but God, I talked to Gloria and she said he was the same with her.”
“Gloria? Really?” She nods and I slump back into my seat.
This doesn’t make any sense. Gloria is the most beautiful and intelligent woman you would ever meet. I might be one of Luciana’s best girls, but she is the one my boss would sack us all for. No one has better numbers than her and there is no secret about that.
So, hearing that even the Goddess among all of us didn’t get through his thick shell makes my heart flip but also worries me.
“My God,” I whisper and she leans forward, catching my gaze.
“He was different with you? Didn’t he impose his rules on you?”
I nod slowly, taking a deep breath. “He let me stay the entire night. I didn’t see any other room than the bedroom.” I squint my eyes, shifting in my seat. “Helga, you have beautiful eyes and a nice ass, if I may say so.” She chuckles and I smile. “Didn’t he compliment you once? I mean, during sex.”
She shakes her head, nibbling on her thumb. “He didn’t speak once. Why? Did he compliment you on your eyes or your ass?”
I sigh, nodding with a shy smile. “Yeah. Multiple times.”
“Wow! You really took a toll on him, girl.”
I laugh nervously, rubbing my eyes. “Seems like it.”

I’m drying the sweat from my neck with a towel, waiting for Gigi to end his flirting session with his crush of the week.
“Hey, Amber. What’s up?” I jump at Derek putting his warm hand on my arm.
“Oh, hey, Derek. Nothing much. Just waiting for Gigi. How are you doing?”
“Fine. Fine. Thank you.” He looks around shyly and I already know what he is about to ask.
Oh, no. Stop him!
“Listen, I… There is a nice cocktail bar that opened in Chinatown.”
“Oh, how nice.” I say, cringing internally.
Don’t compliment him, stop him.
“Maybe we could go there and taste one or two of their cocktails. I don’t know. Are you free on Friday?”
Of course, because everybody cancelled on me.
I purse my lips and look over to flirting Gigi, pondering over how I might reject him politely once again as I see him throwing back his head in laughter. I smile and the image of my mysterious new client passes my inner eye.
Maybe that’s a nice opportunity to have fun and get him out of your system.
“Actually, I’m free this Friday and I would love to try a few cocktails with you, Derek. Thank you!”
His eyes sparkle like the clearest sky, and he claps his hands enthusiastically. “Awesome. I’ll text you, alright?”
“Sure. I’m looking forward to it.”
“Great. Bye, Amber.”
“Bye, Derek.” I say in a singsong voice as he walks away backwards.
I shake my head just in time to get caught by Gigi.
“Honey, what’s the matter? The gorgeous boy shouting around compliments again?”
“No. Well… Yes.” I shrug, lifting my hands. “I actually just said yes to an invitation to a date.”
Gigi opens his mouth in a silent scream as he squats shortly. “Oh. My. God! Finally!” He straightens back up, holding his hands to his chest and looks up to the sky.
“Let’s just hope his cock is as big as he is handsome.”
I gasp, slapping him playfully and he giggles with his hands still crossed over his chest.
“You are impossible.”
We leave the gym in the happiest mood ever. Crossing the street to get our smoothies, Gigi is already whining about starving.
“Why don’t we have brunch instead?”
I groan, letting my arms slump. “Brunch? Really? After all this hard work?!”
“Exactly!” Gigi says, looping my arm into his and dragging me to a nice cafe further down the street. As we sit down in the warm seating area, my stomach is already grumbling and Gigi grins mockingly.
“Shut up and order me bacon. I have to go to the toilet.”
“Ay, Ay, ma’am.”
“Smart ass.” I murmur loudly and hear him chuckling as I get to the hallway, where the washrooms are.
