ALLEN
“You… you can’t be serious. He’s not dead. I saw him yesterday before…” My voice trembled.
I was finding this hard to believe. I wanted Thelma’s words to be a joke or a game she planned with Dean, but her expression… Goddess, it’s true!
“It’s really terrible, Alpha. The guards had to drop his body at the hospital while I made my way down to the mansion to give you the heartbreaking report,” she said, glancing at the damsels then back at me.
She didn’t announce this out for anyone else to hear. The horrible news was meant for my ears alone.
Horrified by this, I decided to head down to the hospital and see things for myself.
Thelma came along. She kept those damsels off my path, until we were sitting in my car, heading down to our destination.
I drove to the hospital with fear. My whole hands were shaking while hanging on to the steering wheel.
I was begging the Goddess to wake me up from this horrible nightmare taking place. Everything is supposed to go my way. It’s supposed to be perfect!
First my whole pack is after me because of that video, and now Dean is gone?
“This is just a dream. I need to wake up,” I sang to myself from within, struggling to maintain my composure.
When we arrived at our destination, I hurriedly dashed out of my car and straight into the hospital, looking for my Beta.
There was no sign of the guards the sorceress sent to bring Dean’s body here to the medical center. Only nurses and cleaners were roaming around doing their… “DOCTOR!” I called out to a familiar face stepping out from a ward.
This is the same doctor who attended to Dean when he was attacked by that Rogue. He’s still the same person attending to my Gamma.
I bet he knows where Dean is.
“Alpha?” the doctor called, looking surprised to see me.
I walked up to him and asked, “Where’s Dean?”
“Dean? You mean Beta Dean?” He lifted his brow in a puzzle.
I confirmed his question, asking for my Beta once again. But the doctor had no idea of what I was saying.
“Alpha, have you forgotten that he was discharged? It’s only your Gamma that’s here.”
“Not that!” I groaned, almost losing my temper with the doctor.
“Dean is here! He… He was…”
“He knows nothing about his death, Alpha,” Thelma said, standing next to me.
Her words shocked the doctor. “Death?” He pronounced that word in a horrified tone.
That’s how the sorceress shared the problem with the doctor, making it clear to the fellow.
He wasn’t aware.
“The guards brought him here. Maybe his body was attended to by one of your colleagues order, Doctor,” Thelma said, staring at the latter in a strange way.
The doctor sighed at this news and asked, “What happened to him? How did he die?”
That question sounded silly just coming from his mouth. He’s a doctor for crying out loud! Can’t he just meet the man who attended to Dean and get that answer?!
“Can you just take me to this doctor? I need to see my Beta,” I said, holding back the anger rising in my body.
Sorceress Thelma flashed her gaze at my attitude before leading the way. The Doctor also came along with us. He looked lost after hearing the disturbing news about Dean.
I followed them from behind, feeling so much heat and heaviness from within.
“Dean, please let this be a prank. I want everything happening to be a dream,” I wished from within, looking at the faces of the nurses that walked pass me.
The look of disgust in their gazes… That’s a clear sign that I am not having a nightmare. This is the reality. My whole world is crumbling before my eyes.
When we met with the doctor who attended to Dean, he took us to the cold room where my Beta was kept. And when I got a good look at Dean’s body, my body quivered in horror.
His neck… It looked like it had been twisted five times or more, breaking the bone from its socket!
“Like I told Sorceress Thelma, your Beta died from a horrible broken neck, which no werewolf can recover from. You can tell from the rumpled flesh where the neck used to be.” The doctor indicated by pointing at the same area I was gazing at.
“Even his body shows marks of attacks, but there’s nothing on him that can link us to the killer that committed this crime.”
“Not even a scent?” I asked, looking at both Thelma and the doctor.
That’s when the sorceress said, lifting her brow at my question, “If there was a scent, I would have tracked this person myself.”
So, that’s clearly a no. This killer wiped his scent off Dean’s body to hide his trail.
“But there were signs of Vampires around the area where I found our dear departed Beta. It could be a clue. So, it’s either those blood suckers are responsible, or that Rogue decided to finish up the work he started on Dean,” Thelma said, signaling the doctors to keep Dean’s body back.
They obeyed.
The seriousness in her tone when she mentioned the Rogue, showed the sorceress’s full suspicion on that demon.
And I can’t help but agree with her on this. Who else would cause such a horrible attack on someone if not that beast?!
That Rogue once broke Dean’s body and even ripped Dave’s face into a freak of nature.
This has to be his doing!
“I suggest we leave for the mansion at once, Alpha. You don’t want your people pouncing on you because of that video.” She hovered her eyes on me with a frown of disgust spreading across her face.
How rude!
Has she forgotten that I’m… Forget it. No one sees me as the Alpha of Wolf Fall but a pervert. And it’s because of that video.
I can’t even speak back to the sorceress even if I wanted to. My current problem has made me a complete weakling before all.
With a light nod of shame, I agreed to Thelma’s decision.
She gave me a smirk filled with pride and said, placing a hand on my shoulder, “That’s much better. Let’s go.”
She walked out of the cold room.
Before taking my leave, I took one more look at Dean’s body, which was being pushed into a small rectangular cold box, and I felt… terrible.
“I never thought a day like this would come. I guess… I guess this is goodbye.” My voice broke when I uttered that last word.
He was more than just my Beta, but a friend. Even though I threatened to punish him for doing things that provoked me, I still needed him around.
And now… He’s gone.
.
Arriving at the mansion with the sorceress, I realized how silent the place was.
It made me wonder if the guards locked the damsels like I instructed them to, or if those annoying women decided to head to their rooms and cry like the weaklings they are.
But I didn’t get that answer, except an unwanted visitation from someone I didn’t expect to see in my home.
“My love, you’re back!”
“Fiona?” I was surprised to see that slut in my home!
She was standing next to my mother above the stairs, putting on an innocent face!
What is she doing here?!
