Chapter 129: Chapter Forty

Book:The Billionaire's Regret Published:2025-2-8

Three Days Later.
Lily rolled over to hit the snooze button on her phone as the alarm pierced through her sleep.
“Five more minutes..” She hummed like a five-year-old.
Just as she was about drifting off to sleep she suddenly remembered that she had to be at the hospital.
“Shit!” She exclaimed and jumped off the bed. When she checked her phone, she saw that it was a few minutes past eight which meant that she had less than an hour to prepare for work.
She quickly jumped into the shower and in a few minutes, she was out. Once she was all dressed up, she hurried downstairs to meet with Tony who was expected to be waiting for her.
When she arrived at the living room, she found Tony sitting on a sofa with Rachael both laughing at a joke that was cracked by him.
Sensing a presence behind, Tony turned and found Lily staring at them with curiosity written all over her face.
“Good morning, Lily.” Tony greeted with a smile.
“Morning, Tony. Morning, Rachael.” She greeted. “Why didn’t you wake me up? We are so late for work.” She complained with a sigh.
“Late? Didn’t Dr Aurelie inform you that you wouldn’t be coming in today?” He said and Lily’s brows furrowed.
“What?” She asked, taken aback by the new finding.
“I’m guessing it skipped her mind. Well, you won’t be going to the hospital for the rest of the week.” He announced and Lily’s expression changed to a sad one.
“Why?” She asked softly.
“Mehdi King’s party is tomorrow so, we will be getting you a dress today and other things you might need for tomorrow. Besides, you need to get yourself prepared for the paparazzi. There’ll be a lot of reporters at the event tomorrow so, you have to be prepared.” Tony explained and Lily nodded slowly.
“Oh…” Lily breathed out and lowered her head as she felt her heart begin to race.
She had forgotten that Tony was popular in Paris so stepping out with a woman by his would attract a lot of attention.
“Don’t worry, Lily. You have nothing to worry about. I will put you through everything you need to know about attempting an event. By the time we are done, you will walk in like a professional.” Rachael assured with a wink.
“Alright then. I trust you, Rachael.” Lily said as a smile made its way to her face.
Since she was already dressed up, Tony was the only one who had to put on new clothes for their visit to the boutique.
An hour later, Tony’s gray sedan pulled up in front of the boutique where they would be shopping, and as soon as they arrived, all the staff recognized him and ran up to him.
“Dr Martinez! It’s a pleasure to have you at M&M Boutique. How may we help you today?” One of them said, completely ignoring Lily who stood beside him.
Because of her casual outfit which was a T-shirt and blue jeans, they concluded that she was there as his assistant.
“I’d love to get some dresses for my partner here. Can you show me what you have?” He said, reaching out to hold Lily’s arm possessively.
The woman’s eyes widened and get throat went dry as Tony introduced Lily as his partner.
“Oh, hello, Miss. A Pleasure to meet you.” She greeted, finally acknowledging Lily’s presence.
“Hello,” Lily replied nervously, looking around the expensive boutique which looked like it was built for only the rich.
“Please, come with me.” She said and led them to the female session which was filled with lots of party dresses and office wear.
Lily did her best to not exclaim as she went through the dresses. They were incredibly beautiful but the prices were ridiculous.
“Do not hesitate, Lily. Pick whatever you like. I have more money than you think.” Tony stated proudly and gestured to the staff to help her out.
Before walking with the staff, Lily leaned into his ears and quickly whispered. “Why are they so expensive?” She asked innocently, her eyes filled with annoyance.
“Designers are always expensive, Lily. Don’t worry about the price. I’ll be making a double of whatever you spend before midnight so do not worry.” He assured her.
Lily felt her heart skipped at his last words. Surely it couldn’t just be the hospital bringing in that much money. He definitely had other sources of income.
As Lily went through the dresses, a thought entered her mind. “I was just thinking. Don’t you think Louis has been too quiet lately? I just find it really strange.”
Tony stiffened slightly and narrowed his eyes. “You’re right. It is strange.”
Lily pointed at a red long dress and the staff quickly pulled it out for her to examine. “He has been quiet for weeks and I can’t help but find it unsettling. It’s almost too quiet, you know? Like he is cooking up something.”
Tony frowned. “He isn’t the type to just let things go so him being this quiet only means he is planning something.”
A sigh left Tony’s lips and he turned, holding Lily’s face in his hands. “Don’t be bothered, Lily. Whatever plan he is making will be fruitless because we will deal with it and finally make him pay for his crimes.”
Lily nodded and smiled softly, though the unease in her chest remained.
Taking the red dress with her, she moved to the fitting room. She pulled it out and saw that it was a text from Oliver. He had been texting for a few days ever since he got her number from one of the nurses at the hospital.
But, Lily wasn’t complaining. He seemed like a nice guy so, there was nothing to worry about.
She opened the text and a smile appeared on her face as she read its contents.
Oliver: [Hey, Lily. I don’t see you around and you said yesterday you’d be having a morning shift. Is everything okay? The hospital feels boring without you here just so you know.]
There was a pink heart emoji at the end of the message which had Lily smiling.
She quickly sent him a reply saying that something had come up and she wouldn’t be around for a while. After that, she went ahead to try on the dress which hugged her like a second skin, showing all her perfect curves. There was a slit that rose to her thighs, giving a perfect view of her creamy legs. The gown had a deep cut at the back and a V-neck.
To sum it up, the red dress was perfect.
When she returned, Tony’s eyes lit up as he scanned her. “You are so fucking beautiful.” He said before he could control himself.
“What about the dress, Tony?” Lily said, hiding her overly visible blush.
“Oh..” Tony nodded. “It’s perfect. I love it.” He complimented she clapped happily before informing the staff that she would be taking that particular dress.
Lily returned to the dressing room and took off the dress before making her way back to Tony. As she neared him, her phone buzzed. It was another text from Oliver.
“Who’s got you smiling like that?” Tony asked as he noticed the bright smile on her face as she typed away on her phone.
Lily looked up and smiled innocently before waving her phone for him to see. “Oh, it’s just Oliver.”
Tony’s jaw clenched immediately and his brows furrowed.
“Oliver? What the fuck does he want with you?”
