When they arrived at ‘The Fred’s’ it was already 6:02 pm. Tony turned off the car engine and turned to Lily only to see her hands shaking and her face pale like she had just seen a ghost.
“Lily?” He called out but her mind was far gone. “Lily!” He called out again, loudly this time, and also tapped her. Thankfully, she jerked back into consciousness, blinking her eyes severally.
“Y.. yes?” She stammered with fear written all over her face. Tony understood that she was worried and nervous about meeting Louis so, he grabbed her hand slowly and pulled her in for a hug.
“I’ll be watching every second of your conversation, Lily. You have nothing to worry about.” He assured and Lily nodded slowly. “All you need to do is swap his phone with yours since you said they are both similar, then, you’d use the restroom and install the app into his phone. I’ll take it from there, okay?” He explained and Lily nodded again.
“I got it. Thank you.” She whispered as she pulled out of the hug. “I’ll go in now.” She said with a brief smile and opened the door.
Before walking into the building, Lily took a deep breath before entering the building. As usual, THE FREDS was packed with people, mostly office workers since it was closing hours. That was exactly why Lily wanted to meet with him there. She was sure he wouldn’t be able to do anything because of the crowd.
From where Lily stood, she could see Louis sitting at the corner of the restaurant with a scowl on his face and his usual rough look. His eyes scanned the place from where he stood and soon found Lily. He stared at her with hooded eyes, keeping his face as emotionless as ever.
Lily cursed quietly at him before walking to meet him.
“You are late.” He stated as soon as she got close enough. Lily said nothing, holding herself from rolling her eyes at him. She couldn’t believe that he still had that nasty attitude of his even after everything that had happened.
“I’m surprised you didn’t come with that minion who always follows you around.” He said with a scoff, referring to Tony.
“Or did you?” He drew his eyes at her before looking around to search for Tony. “I hope he’s not hiding around here. I don’t know what I’d do if I laid my eyes on him again.” He threatened and Lily’s breath hitched. She knew that he wasn’t joking.
“He’s not here.” She lied. “Are you ready to talk?” She asked with a straight face.
“After ignoring my calls and texts, you suddenly asked to see me. I presume you have something important to tell me so, why don’t you go first?” Louis replied, leaning into his chair with a smirk.
“Or, wait!” He raised his hands. “We should order something.” He said and called for a waiter.
“I’ll have a bottle of cognac and she’ll have coke.” He ordered and Lily rolled her eyes.
‘He must have forgotten that I am no longer in his clutches.’ She thought with gritted teeth.
Louis had a habit of making decisions for her like she was a child. It was one of the many things she hated about him. Now that they were no longer together, she finally had her freedom.
“I’ll have just water, please. Thank you.” She countered with a warm smile at the young waiter who was about to leave.
“Of course, Ma’am.” He bowed curtly and excused himself.
“You can’t have just water. Have some coke.” Louis challenged with a frown.
“I do not want a Coke right now, Louis. I’ll get what I want. Besides, I didn’t come here to have a drink with you. We didn’t do things like this while we were dating, why do them now?” She said sarcastically and smiled at him, making him angrier than he already was.
“I see that doctor doesn’t know how to handle a woman. If he did, he’d know how to put you in your place. But don’t worry, once I take him out of the picture and get you back, I’ll teach you again.” Louis said with a devilish smirk that made Lily’s skin crawl. The thought of going back to him made her nauseous. As far as she was concerned, she was never going back to him. He would have to kill her for that to happen.
“In your dreams, Louis. I am never coming back to you, not when I am finally living like a human after years of living like a fucking animal.” She retorted strongly, her eyes showing determination.
“I called you here to let you know that I won’t be returning and it will be better for the both of us if you come to terms with that and move on. I hope our paths never cross again.” She said calmly but Louis maintained his composure, showing no hint of fear or worry. It was as though he was positive she was bluffing.
As he opened his mouth to speak, the waiter returned with his cognac and Lily’s glass of water. Just as the waiter was about to pass the glass of water to Lily, he tripped and hit Louis slightly, causing his phone to fall out of his pocket and slide towards Lily.
“I am so sorry, Sir.” The waiter apologized immediately and turned to pick it up but raised his head and winked at Lily, signaling her to make the swap. Lily immediately understood and pushed her phone to the ground while pretending to pick up Louis’s phone.
“Shit! I hope it’s not broken.” She exclaimed dramatically and bent to pick up hers but grabbed Louis’s phone instead.
“Here you go, Sir. I am sorry for the inconvenience.” The waiter handed the swapped phone to Louis who nodded and placed it on the table nonchalantly.
With the phone in her hand, it was finally time to install the app. “Give me two minutes. I need to use the restroom.” She excused herself and walked away calmly, careful not to raise any suspicion from Louis.
She went into the toilet and typed in Louis’s password which she had secretly known for months. Then, he installed the secret tracking app and connected it to her second phone, making sure she left no traces. When she saw her phone and saw his location beeping with a red color on her phone, she gave herself a pat on the back before returning to the table.
Louis was still seated with his hands on his chin when she arrived. Lily signaled the waiter who she figured was working with her for some reason and had him come to the table to distract Louis so she could swap the phones once again.
“Would you like anything else, Sir?” The waiter asked and brought out a menu list for Louis to check, placing it above the phone so Lily could swap them without him noticing.
“I didn’t say I wanted anything, dude. Can you leave us the fuck alone?” Louis snapped and the waiter immediately stepped back once he was sure that Lily was done.
“Of course, Sir. I apologize once again. Have a lovely time.” He said and hurried away.
Once the waiter left, Lily cleared her throat and picked up her purse, deciding that it was time for her to leave.
“Alright then, Louis. I guess we are done here. I hope you understood everything I said. This was the last time we would see each other. I wish you happiness and I hope you remain single forever. I wouldn’t want any girl to go through what I went through.” Lily shook her head and clicked her tongue before turning to leave.
But, Louis got up and grabbed her hand before she could leave.
“You are delusional if you think I’ll give up on you so easily.” He smirked and leaned into her ear to whisper. “With the knowledge you have about my gang, I’d rather die than let you out of my grasp.” He said and Lily felt her soul leave her body.
“Tell that doctor to leave you alone if he wants to live. You have one week, Lily. You know what I am capable of.”
