Ashely P. O. V.
I was sitting down right beside my friends when suddenly someone knocked on the door. I saw a dark curly hair light-skinned girl walking inside the classroom, and I saw that it was a pretty petite girl with crystal blue eyes and freckles on her face. I noticed she was a tiny fairy to me. I had a feeling she must be half veela and a half-werewolf.
“Hello, welcome; I am Mr. Smith!” You must be Maria Ann Stevens,” I heard him tell her with a kind smile.
She blushed and looked away and spoke under her breath.
“Hello, yes I am.” but I am sorry for being late, Mr. Smith,” she told him in a sweet and small voice.
She is a small girl, maybe five foot and a hundred pounds maybe less. She is a tiny thing. I know I am, and Emilia is the tallest in our friend group, but wow, she’s like a little tinker bell.
“It’s okay, Miss. Stevens before we start. How about coming up in front of the class and telling us who you are and where you’re from?” Mr. Smith told her with a smile.
She started looking scared and nervous. I could tell she was a shy person, but she looked like a frightened mouse.
Go on, and it’s okay,” I heard Mr. Smith say.
I am looking at her, and she is playing with her hair. I guess that helps her. She takes deep breaths.
“Hello… I… am Mari-a Ann,” she said with her lips trembling.
Mr. Smith was telling us to say hello to her.
“Now, what do you say to Maria Ann?” He spoke to his classroom.
“Okay, Miss. Stevens,” he said, giving her a hand jester and telling her to keep going.
“I am- from… Charleston… West Virginia.” She stuttered again. This poor girl, I thought. I could hear people laughing around me. I was, and the girls were getting angry because they are rude and stupid people. God, I wish they grow the hell up. I thought, rolling my eyes.
Why do they have to be so mean to others? God, I hate this school. I am so glad I am graduating from here, leaving school, and going to college next fall.
“Class!” Mr. Smith turned around, and the classroom became quiet. But when Mr. Smith turns back around and stares at Maria-Ann.
“You can keep going, Miss. Stevens,” he tells her.
She stared at him, and I saw her hands shaking on her side. But I saw her lift up her hands and move up and down by her side.
“I am eighteen. I just turned yesterday.” She spoke a little bit calmer.
I could tell she was trying to be brave in front of the classroom and Mr. Smith.
“Where did you go to school at stutterer high?” I heard laughter. I looked, and it was Camilia’s friend Veronica asked in a smug voice with a cocky grin on her face.
I wanted to go back there, grab her by the hair, pull her out of her seat, and kiss the ground. But I knew if I did that. I would be kicked out of school, and I only got two months left until graduation.
“Miss. Andrews!” I heard Mr. Smith tell her.
“It’s okay, Mr. Smith; I heard Maria-Ann tell him, staring over in the back role, and they stopped laughing. That’s when Maria-Ann’s face turned white. I was wondering because of the look on her face. She was scared, and I saw a little tint of red on her cheeks.
“Sorry I am late,” I heard a manly voice with an Italian accent. I knew who that was.
“You must be Mr.-
“Maxime!” I heard him tell the teacher with a smirk on his cocky face.
“Okay, Maxime, would you like to come over here and tell the class who you are and where you’re from?” Mr. Smith tells him with a slight smile.
He just walked over, and he started standing beside Maria-Ann, and I could see her body trying to hide from this giant man who stood over her petite body beside her. I just meant him two days ago.
“Well, hello, my Bella,” he tells her seductively. I saw him rub his finger moving up and down on her side. I heard her gasp, and then I saw her shiver when he was close to her.
Then she tried to move, but he would not let her by having his arm on her shoulder. So, then she tries to move away from his hand.
So, she tried to step to the side so his hand would fall off her shoulder.
But then I saw him smile when she tried to elbow his stomach.
But she could not because he had her put by his side.
“Well, I am Maxime Michealanglo, nineteen years old. So, I am from Italy, but I live in Charleston, West Virginia. I play football, and I love the ladies,” He said, winking at the girls in the classroom.
I rolled my eyes and saw Maria-Ann’s annoyed expression on her expressive face.
“Oh, you have a girlfriend,” One of the girls asks with a giggle.
He didn’t say anything but looked down at Maria-Ann’s face, but she wasn’t paying attention to him. Instead, she was looking down at the ground.
Well, I don’t know if she out there then I guess she be the lucky one,”
Then he still had his eyes on Maria-Ann? What in the world-
Then I remembered and realized the other night, when Jayson and I saw his phone, he was texting someone, and he had a smug grin on his face when he got the text back.
I looked over his shoulder when I saw Maria-Ann he was texting?
So, this is the girl he likes.
But it looks like she doesn’t want anything to do with him, but I could tell when the girls stared and giggled when Veronica and Camilia’s friends were staring at him like a buffet. Then one of them asked if he had a girlfriend with a flirty smile at him.
Oh, wow, so you guys know each other?” Mr. Smith asked.
I saw Maria-Ann her cheeks were red, and I saw Maxime looking down at her with a knowing smile.
” Well, yes, we do, we are long lost friends my little Tinkerbell,” Maxime said. Then, when I saw Maria-Ann gasp, he pulled her to his side and chuckled when she was staring, shaking in her feet.
Oh, I see it.
She is not blushing because she likes him. No, she was shaking because she was scared to death of him.
Maxime Michealango is a bully.
And Maria-Ann is his prey and victim.
But there is something there, and I could not put my finger on it.
Just maybe they could be more than prey and predator.
