The server moved with swift precision.
She rolled on the ground like a ball, and as her peripheral vision caught sight of Darnell, her slender body quickly turned around.
She ended up facing Darnell like an overturned turtle, her eyes glinting with a sinister cold light, and the muzzle of her gun menacingly pointed at him.
“Bang! Bang!”
Without hesitation, two short guns fired, flames spitting out. In the battlefield of smoke and fire, honed by countless life-and-death moments, Darnell reacted quickly, his reactions faster than his consciousness.
He rolled to the side with all his might while flinging several cards towards his opponent.
The simultaneous gunshots merged into a thunderous roar, bullets whizzing past Darnell’s head.
The assassin disguised as a waitress also rolled on the floor, trying to evade Darnell’s attack. However, she couldn’t avoid the razor-sharp cards that sliced through the air, leaving thin cuts on her skin as they flew past.
Then, with both hands holding two lethal pistols, she aimed directly at Darnell’s hiding spot and fired two more shots, sending debris flying.
Her eyes were cold and piercing. Her movements were clean, swift, and coordinated.
During this time, Cesar and the others also took cover, brandishing knives or daggers, while Harry crawled into the kitchen to grab a cleaver.
After the gunshots ceased, both sides faced off. Although the assassin had guns, she knew how formidable Darnell was and approached cautiously instead of charging forward recklessly.
Darnell spoke calmly, “Victoria?”
It was clear he had recognized her.
The waitress snorted coldly, “Yes, you still remember me.”
A glint flashed in Darnell’s eyes as he spoke with curiosity, “We seem to have only clashed twice, once at the restaurant and once in the hospital lobby.”
“Although we don’t see eye to eye, it hasn’t escalated to a life-or-death situation. Why are you suddenly interested in killing me?”
Victoria spoke viciously, “I wish I could tear you apart! You crippled Jett, Kole, and Reece. They can never be men again. Worse than death.”
“You made my child fatherless before birth. Destined to live a lonely life. Tell me, should I not seek revenge? Should I not blow your head off?”
She spoke these words through gritted teeth with immense hatred. Darnell had not only destroyed her restaurant but also her future hopes.
“Indeed you should, considering I took out three of your lovers. You coming after me is already the greatest mercy you could show.”
Darnell remained calm as he replied, “But you should know that many have wanted my head. They all ended up dead. You won’t be an exception.”
Victoria snorted coldly, “Maybe I’m not as good at fighting as you are, but with guns in hand, you’re dead meat.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she lunged forward and pulled the trigger.
When her voice turned sharp, Darnell realized she would charge and shoot. Without hesitation, he rolled away.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Gunfire continued relentlessly, hitting the floor where Darnell had rolled away from. The attack was fierce and deadly. Darnell temporarily avoided its edge.
“Bang!”
Before Darnell could counterattack, Cesar seized an opportunity and roared as he hurled a coffee table at Victoria.
She sidestepped to avoid it while Cesar charged forward swiftly like a whirlwind.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Victoria’s expression changed slightly as she raised her gun and fired four or five bullets. Cesar knelt to dodge them but got a cut on his ear.
With the distance closed in an instant before Victoria could lower her gun again, Cesar flipped over and kicked her chest with his right foot.
“Bang!”
Though Cesar’s movement seemed small-scale, this kick was powerful like thunderbolts. The force was immense.
Victoria groaned as if hit by a car. Her legs left the ground as she flew backward eight meters before crashing down three meters away. Her guns fell too. She lay on her back, gasping for breath with broken ribs.
Struggling to lift her head while coughing blood twice onto the ground beside her but catching some breath nonetheless, Victoria used her last bit of strength to get up again, she swung fists towards Darnell once more.
Cesar, gritting his teeth against the pain of his old wounds, let out a low roar and charged forward, throwing a punch.
“Bang!”
The two fists collided mid-air!
With a deafening crash, Cesar barely flinched, massaging his abdomen while Victoria was sent crashing onto the coffee table.
The impact not only shattered the hotel’s dark glass but also drained her of her last ounce of strength. She was now completely defenseless.
Darnell watched as Victoria spat blood, then walked up to her with his hands clasped behind his back. “You sacrificed yourself for those three brutes. You really are something else.”
“Do you have any last wishes for me to fulfill?”
Harry and the others closed the door, gripping their firearms protectively, while Cesar drew a sharp knife and approached Victoria.
With her head resting on the floor, Victoria had nowhere left to hide. The bitterness in her eyes was now mixed with fear as she felt the sharp blade pressing slowly against her throat.
Her facial muscles twitched uncontrollably, as if she could smell the imminent scent of death.
Victoria gritted her teeth. “Darnell, I swear I’ll haunt you even after I die!”
Darnell sighed. “I forgot to mention that I can exorcise the evil spirits.”
He walked toward the door. “Cesar, don’t kill anyone in the hotel. It’s too much trouble.”
“After you clean up the scene, you four head back to Woodsea and stay on the seventh floor.”
Another murder case would surely have Judith ready to strangle him.
Cesar sheathed his knife, reached out, and touched Victoria’s head, squeezing and pulling.
“Crack!”
Blood gushed from Victoria’s mouth and nose as her skull was severely injured. Her life was now destined to be that of a vegetable.
Stepping outside, Darnell jumped into the Lamborghini, picked up his phone, and dialed a number with a bright smile.
“Darling, I have some bad news for you…”
On the other end of the line, Judith’s expression darkened.
After taking care of Victoria, Darnell drove back to Woodsea. Upon arriving at the square, he found a crowd of over twenty people gathered in front of the office building, laughter and chatter filling the air.
Noemi, Leroy, Garrett, Arthur, Vance, and Sheldon were all munching on snacks and chatting animatedly.
Darnell initially thought it was the delivery of his cars, but after scanning the area, he didn’t spot the promised BMW X5s.
He told Cesar and the others to head up to the seventh floor and then walked toward the office building. “What’s going on? Why is everyone so happy? Did someone hit the lottery or something?”
“Hey, Darnell, you finally came back!”
Leroy spotted Darnell first and shouted excitedly, “Your girlfriend has been waiting for you!”
He held up something, and upon closer inspection, Darnell realized it was a stack of dollar bills.
Garrett and the others turned around, shouting, “Boss, you’re back! Your girlfriend has been waiting for you!”
Darnell was momentarily taken aback. “Girlfriend?”
Noemi also looked over. “Kid, you have such a beautiful girlfriend, and you’re trying to flirt with Lillian. Do you believe I’ll break your manhood?”
Though Noemi had a fierce demeanor, her smile was bright, and she, like Leroy, held up a dollar bill.
Garrett and the others were similarly equipped with cash.
Darnell was once again in a daze. “Girlfriend?”
“Darnell!”
As Garrett and the others parted to make way, a girl in a flowing white dress ran out, holding pastries and a wad of dollar bills, her smile enchanting.
It was Karlee.
