The Axe hadn’t expected the police to arrive so quickly. No, they hadn’t expected the police to have already been lying in wait.
Judging by Judith and the officers’ stance and equipment, as well as the video footage in Darnell’s hand, Kimberly and her companions knew that the police had likely witnessed the entire fight.
Today, it seemed unlikely they would get away easily. Kimberly and her crew felt a deep sense of frustration.
In such a serious case, Kimberly could have previously found some thugs to take the fall. But caught red-handed, finding scapegoats was out of the question.
Darnell’s mention of the death penalty was no empty threat.
“Drop the axe immediately.”
Darnell swaggered towards the Axe and shouted, “Surrender your weapons, or you’ll be dead.”
He waved his police gun at Kimberly. “Especially you, girl in red. After killing so many people, aren’t you going to drop your weapon and surrender?”
Kimberly’s face was cold as she stared at Darnell. If looks could kill, Darnell would have died a hundred times over.
“Drop your weapons, drop your weapons.”
Darnell ignored Kimberly’s hatred and pointed at the Axe. “Still holding those axes? Want to chop me? Come on then.”
Provoked by Darnell’s words, one man couldn’t hold back. He roared and swung his axe at Darnell. “Kill him!”
His axe was stained with fresh blood, indicating he had been one of the main fighters earlier and couldn’t escape punishment.
“Bang!”
Before his axe could touch Darnell’s neck, a gunshot rang out. The attacker shuddered and was thrown back.
A bloody hole appeared in his chest, blood gushing forth uncontrollably, Clearly, his chances of survival were slim.
The scene fell silent for a moment. No one expected someone to shoot. In their minds, police only fired warning shots but never directly at people.
“Bang bang bang!”
Without hesitation, another series of gunshots rang out. Three members of the Axe fell to the ground, all shot in the knees, blood gushing out.
Judith stepped forward, pressed her gun against one man’s shoulder, and pulled the trigger. The man holding an axe high screamed and fell heavily.
His shoulder was soaked in blood, a gruesome sight.
Judith shouted sternly, “Anyone who moves again will be shot dead!”
Darnell wiped his cold sweat. This policewoman was ruthless. Better to avoid her in the future.
“Drop your weapons, drop your weapons.”
The gunshots instantly tightened the nerves of the Axe and suppressed their urge to act. Although they were angry about their companions being injured by Judith, no one dared to make a move.
Kimberly’s defiance faded slightly, replaced by a hint of seriousness. She hadn’t expected to encounter such tough opponents.
But everyone still hesitated to drop their weapons.
“Bang!”
Judith shot another person down. “You have ten seconds. Anyone still holding a weapon after ten seconds will be treated as a criminal and shot dead.”
She took back her police gun from Darnell and raised both guns again, pointing them at several members of the Axe members.
Other officers also raised their guns and shouted fiercely at them. “Drop your weapons!”
“You’d better surrender now.”
Darnell leisurely walked up to one member of the Axe. “If you don’t drop your weapon soon, the police will really shoot.”
The member looked conflicted.
“Bang!”
Darnell suddenly shouted. The man flinched and quickly dropped his axe, raising his hands. “I surrender! I surrender!”
Realizing he had been tricked by Darnell, he was furious but helpless.
Following his lead, other members also threw down their axes one after another with metallic clinks echoing as they hit the ground. They raised their hands and squatted down.
The police swiftly handcuffed them all together, seventy or eighty people in total. Those without enough handcuffs were tied up with ropes from the hotel.
Kimberly was unwilling to be restrained like this. She tried more than once to escape. If she could leave here, she would disappear from police sight.
But Judith kept a close watch on her. Kimberly had no chance to flee. She could tell Judith wasn’t an ordinary cop, her marksmanship was sharp enough.
However, she wouldn’t give up easily either. Being caught by the police meant at least ten years in prison, so she pressed a button on her watch.
A signal was sent out.
Judith again pointed her gun and shouted, “Drop your weapon.”
“Clang!”
Kimberly threw down her hidden knife and coldly looked at Judith and Darnell. “I surrender.”
Darnell bent down to check on the big guy’s injuries. He found him still breathing and quickly used someone else’s clothes to bandage him up.
This guy was crucial evidence against Kimberly and the Axe. Darnell didn’t want him dead. As soon he finished bandaging, he noticed shadows upstairs.
“Watch out!”
Darnell instinctively turned his head towards Judith and shouted just as Sunflower Hotel’s signboard came crashing down towards her.
“Whoosh!”
Darnell leaped like a cheetah, grabbing Judith and rolling sideways five or six meters away just as the two-meter-long sign landed heavily where they had been standing moments before.
“Boom!”
The sign crashed onto three members of the Axe, smashing them into bloody messes while forcing two officers into awkward evasive maneuvers.
Sparks flew from the fallen sign with electric currents arcing and flames erupting, causing many people to scream and scatter.
“Vroom-”
In the next instant, the roar of engines erupted from the distance, and four red-and-white motorcycles burst around the corner like enraged bulls.
The speed was so blinding that it could only be described as a lightning strike. Before seven police officers even had time to react, they were knocked to the ground by the motorcycles.
Onlookers-including Judith-were left stunned. Everything was happening too fast.
After colliding with the officers, the four motorcycles traced a beautiful arc in the air before screeching to a halt a short distance away.
The tires screeched against the pavement, sending up a cloud of rubber smoke, and then the riders raised their hands, hurling two small objects into the crowd.
Flames erupted, and a thick white mist billowed up.
“Get down!”
Darnell pulled Judith into a roll, escaping several meters away from the dense smoke.
At that moment, Kimberly had already sprung into action, seizing her hidden knife and charging towards the motorcycles.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Judith quickly flipped over and knelt, firing three shots at Kimberly and her crew. However, the smoke blurred her vision, and all the bullets missed their target.
“Kill that female officer.”
Kimberly continued her relentless advance into the night, leaving behind a menacing command.
With those words, the four motorcycles roared to life, heading straight for Judith.
The oncoming force was swift and ferocious.
Judith’s expression shifted slightly.
At that moment, Darnell snatched the police gun from Judith, raising it quickly as smoke billowed up, the gunfire shaking the ground.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
The motorcycle riders, still bewildered, suddenly felt blood erupt from their foreheads as they fell lifelessly to the ground.
“Bang!”
Darnell fired another shot, and Kimberly staggered, a spray of blood erupting from her back.
Yet, she didn’t fall. Instead, she used the bullet’s momentum to propel herself forward, creating distance from the gunfire.
In the next second, she veered to the side and ducked into an alley.
By the time several officers rushed after her, Kimberly had vanished from the alley, leaving only a pool of blood behind.
Darnell blew on the muzzle of the gun, a look of regret on his face. “This police gun just needed a little more firepower.”
Judith was in shock, finally realizing who killed the Lonsdale brothers.
