Chapter 79: A murderer.
Thirty minutes ago.
World-Glow Conference Room.
“Sir, this is the proposal from the Aurora enterprise.” Lucas walked forward, presenting the documents to Raymond, who was seated in his executive chair in the conference room, where the meeting with Aurora Enterprises was going on.
“President Raymond, since we’ve already drawn out the plan of the building project of the amusement park at Coney Island in Brooklyn, and everyone is satisfied with the location, I would advise we start working on it sooner so it can be opened before the Christmas holiday.”
The president of Aurora group, Mr. Noah suggested, while Raymond nodded in agreement, his eyes scanning the documents Lucas passed to him just now.
“The location at Coney Island is ideal, and with the right planning, I’m sure we could create a world-class amusement park that would attract visitors from all over the globe.” After some minutes, Raymond passed the document in his hand back to Lucas, who kept it in a file placed in front of him.
“The idea of opening the amusement park before Christmas will give us a significant marketing advantage,” Raymond said as he leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping on the desk rhythmically as he considered the proposal.
After looking into the advantages and the disadvantages of the new building project, the meeting with the Aurora group finally ended with Mr. Noah inviting Raymond for lunch, but Raymond politely declined his offer.
A few minutes before the meeting came to an end, Raymond had this weird feeling that something was wrong somewhere. After entering his office, he wasn’t able to concentrate on anything, his mind heavy with a strange feeling.
He tried focusing on finishing off the documents he hadn’t signed during the two weeks he was absent from office, but his focus was somewhere else.
Suddenly, a shrill ringing of the phone on Raymond’s desk jolted him out of his thoughts. The piercing tone broke the silence in the office. Raymond’s heart couldn’t help skipping a beat as he picked up the phone, seeing it was the bodyguard he sent to secretly watch over Lina who was calling.
“Speak,” Raymond answered in his cold voice.
“Mr Walton, it’s Louis.” The voice from the other end replied, his voice dripping with urgency.
“I know it’s you. What is it?” Raymond sounded irritated.
“It’s Mrs. Walton,” Raymond felt his heart almost fall out of his throat as he stood up abruptly. “What about her? What happened to her?” Where is she?” Raymond asked one question after the other hurriedly, surprising the bodyguard from the other end of the phone.
“At the moment, nothing is wrong with her. It’s just that she is heading to one of the places you instructed me to inform you about whenever she is heading there.” Raymond remembered listing places the bodyguard had to inform him when Lina was to go there, no matter when it was.”
“And where would that be?” Raymond had a bad feeling about this.
“It’s her father’s house sir. Madam is heading to her father’s villa as we speak.” Raymond’s eyes narrowed at the bodyguard’s words. He doesn’t like this one bit.
“Who is with her?” Raymond’s fingers ran into his hair in frustration, instantly messing up the small curls.
“She left alone, sir.” The bodyguard could sense Raymond’s killing intent from the phone. He couldn’t help cowering in fear like Raymond was there with him.
“Make sure you keep an eye on her. I will be there soon.” Before bodyguard Louis could reply, Raymond had already cut off the call.
Raymond picked up his suit jacket from the coat hanger before dashing out of the room. He almost collided with assistant Lucas, who was bringing in more documents that needed his signature.
Lucas couldn’t help thinking about what would have happened to make Raymond rush out that way. His instinct told him Lina might be involved. Since his boss married the madam, all his actions are always out of hand. He had broken rules time and time again because of Lina.
“Sir, you have a meeting in ten minutes. Lucas shouted as Raymond passed him like a wind. He can’t shoulder Raymond’s responsibilities anymore. He won’t be able to live long if he continues working overtime to close in for Raymond.
“Take care of it.” That was Raymond’s statement before disappearing down the office hallway. Lucas felt like wailing on the spot. His eyes couldn’t help rolling, thinking about the extra work he had to cover up for.
A few minutes later, Raymond was standing in front of the Robert villa. As the chief security officer saw who it was, he didn’t waste time instructing a security guard to give Raymond a pass.
As Raymond walked to the doorstep of the villa, his heart couldn’t help the dull ache he was feeling. Five fully dressed bodyguards were behind him.
The entrance door of the villa was wide open, saving them the stress of pressing the doorbell. Surely, Raymond doesn’t have time to even do that. If the door wasn’t opened at the moment, he would have told his bodyguards to break down the door.
Raymond couldn’t help the shattering of his heart, seeing the scene of three burly bodyguards almost subduing his little woman, whose fear of the unknown was evident in her brown orbs. He doesn’t have to give instructions for his bodyguards to take action. In seconds, those three bodyguards of Jason were subdued.
Raymond couldn’t help rushing over to Lina whose eyes were filled with shock, relief, and awe, seeing him saving her from the clutches of her unfeeling father.
“Are you okay?” Raymond couldn’t help asking as he spun her around, checking for any visible injuries on her.
“Why are you here?” He heard her ask such a silly question. He couldn’t help reprimanding her in his heart. Why would he be here? Of course, it’s to save her, support her, and make sure she is okay.
He didn’t have time to savor the feeling of having her wrapped in his arms when he heard the annoying voice of Jason cut through the air.
“What is your relationship with my daughter, President Walton?” He could hear the happiness in his voice as he questioned him.
Raymond turned over slightly, Lina still in his arms. His eyes were cold as he looked at Jason, who couldn’t help shivering under Raymond’s cold gaze. His gaze was like he was looking directly into his soul. He had already known how this family of three had treated his woman since childhood. He also has a hatred for them in his heart.
“You want to know my relationship with her?” Jason nodded like a curious child at Raymond’s question.
“Of course, she is my legally married wife,” Raymond said with pride. Lina couldn’t help rolling her eyes in his arms. She was still angry with him, but that didn’t mean she would fight with him in front of her despicable family.
Time seems to stop at Raymond’s claim on Lina. Rebecca and Mira, who was pretending to have fainted, due to the impact of the flower vase colliding with her head were shocked beyond relief.
Though Ashley had told her about this before, Mira didn’t believe her one hundred percent, but seeing the mighty Raymond protecting Lina in his arms, she couldn’t help the jealousy she felt. She couldn’t accept that she snatched Daniel from Lina just to make her have a better choice of husband.
“That is impossible? How can you marry this b*tch who doesn’t have any good qualities in her.” Rebecca doesn’t know when those words tumbled out of her mouth, due to the rage she felt at the news.
“You’d better mind your language, Mrs. Rebecca.” Raymond’s cold gaze shifted to Rebecca, who was angry that Raymond didn’t even bother to call her Mrs. Robert. Doesn’t she deserve that title in his eyes also?
“Does that mean you are my son-in-law?” Jason calculates gaze bored into Lina and Raymond, happiness dripping in his voice. His mind was already calculating how he would use Raymond’s influence to revive his company, with the help Raymond would render. He believed Raymond wouldn’t want Lina’s mother’s company to get sold.
“Humph,” Raymond snorted. “Does my wife accept you as her father? You can call me your son-in-law whenever she accepts you as one.” Lina couldn’t help the smudge look on her face at Raymond’s bad-ass reply. She would have complimented him if she wasn’t still angry at him.
Jason’s eyes narrowed in anger. He knew he wasn’t a good father to Lina, but that doesn’t give her the right to complain about him to Raymond. That ungrateful bastard. He couldn’t help cursing Lina in his heart a million times, thinking she was the cause of his misfortune.
“Sister, I know you hated me, but that doesn’t give you the right to hit me with the flower vase. Murdering your own family member wouldn’t make your sentence in jail lesser.” Mira whined, trying to sound as pitiful as possible.
Someone would think she was feeling hurt by Lina’s actions, not knowing she was trying to paint her as a murderer tarnishing her image in front of Raymond.
Raymond, who didn’t seem to notice Mira, who was lying on the floor finally noticed her. Mira couldn’t contain the joy in her heart as Raymond gazed at her. A wild thought couldn’t help forming in her head. If I could snatch Daniel from Lina, why can’t I do the same for this godlike man?
Instead of the reaction, Mira thought Raymond would have hearing her words, she didn’t expect his next line of action.
Raymond disentangled himself from Lina. Lina thought he was disappointed in her, but what he did next couldn’t help making her cheeks flush red.
“How is your hand? Are you hurt anywhere? Does your hand feel heavy carrying the flower vase?” He examined her hands as he questioned her worriedly. He couldn’t help placing butterfly kisses all over her delicate hands. He was very serious about it. Lina couldn’t help the grin on her face. Her gaze shifted to Mira, who was surprised at Raymond’s action. Doesn’t he have to shout at Lina and rebuke her for being violent?
Lina gloated at Mira’s misfortune. She felt pride that Raymond didn’t disappoint her like everyone else who always believed Mira before hearing her out. This was the first time she was having this feeling. It felt so good to have a supporter after all. She thought.
Mira, who couldn’t help the dizziness from losing too much blood, was forced to faint for real this time around. “Mira!!” Rebecca screamed and almost tore off the roof.
