At Daniel’s apartment.
Mira was pacing back and forth in the living room, her high heels clicking on the marble floor. The soft glow of the table lamps cast eerie shadows on the walls, making her feel like she was trapped in a nightmare. She could smell the faint scent of Daniel’s cologne lingering in the air, a reminder of his absence.
After some minutes, the door was swung open as Daniel came in from outside looking exhausted. He dropped his car keys on the console table, and the sound echoed through the room.
“Daniel, where did you go? It’s been two weeks since you came home last.” Mira confronted the tired Daniel who walked past her without even glancing at her, his footsteps heavy with fatigue. Mira, who was on the verge of losing her cool, couldn’t take it anymore as her eyes reddened with anger. She stepped forward, stopping Daniel’s movement. “I’m talking to you Daniel, answer me before going in.” Her eyes were blazing with rage. What had gone into Daniel? He wasn’t like this a month ago.
“Get out of my way.” Daniel finally uttered a word since he had come in earlier. “No, I won’t.” Mira’s hands were on her waist as one of her legs shook like a petty woman.
Daniel stepped around Mira, but she blocked him again by moving as he moved. Daniel’s eyes flash with annoyance. “Don’t test my patience, Mira,” he warned, his voice low and even. “I’m not in the mood for your games right now.
Mira’s eyes narrowed, her face reddening with anger. “You think I’m playing games with you?” she taunted, her voice rising. “If you don’t tell me where you are coming from, you are going nowhere.” Mira fired back.
Daniel’s expression turned glacial, his jaw clenched in anger. “For the last time, get out of the way Mira,” he said, his voice dripping with menace as his brown orbs bore into her black ones.
“Or else what…? “Ahhh,” Mira’s scream tore into the room like thunder as Daniel roughly pushed her from the way making her land on the floor with a thud. He didn’t even spare her a glance before walking away.
Mira’s eyes blazed with fury as she scrambled to her feet, her hands shaking with rage. “Daniel! she spat, her voice venomous. “Stop right there!” Daniel didn’t answer her. What greeted her was his powerful back.
She rushed after him, her footsteps echoing through the hallway. “Daniel, stop! Come back here and face me, you bastard.” But Daniel didn’t stop. He kept walking, his back rigid and unyielding. Mira’s anger boiled over, and she reached out to grab his arm, spinning him around to face her after rushing forward.
“How dare you!” she hissed, her eyes flashing with anger. “How dare you treat me like this! I’m your wife, Daniel. Your wife for goodness sake!” She spat.
Daniel’s expression was icy, his eyes cold and unyielding. “My wife you said, he chuckled, his voice dripping with disdain. “Don’t make me laugh Mira. Which wife would treat her husband without respect the way you treated me? I’m even regretting marrying you already. He finally said what was in his mind this past few days. “There is no use that I married you, no benefits. If not for your manipulation, Lina would have been mine right now!” He screamed, finally saying all he felt.
Mira’s face went white with shock, and she felt like she’d been punched in the gut. “What… what do you mean?” she stammered as her eyes welled up. “You mean I don’t have any benefits in your life?”
Daniel’s eyes seemed to bore into her soul, and his voice was like a knife cutting through her heart. “What, did I say anything wrong?” His fingers raked into his already disheveled hair in frustration. “You promised me to get your hands on Lina’s mother’s legacy a month after we got married. Tell me,” he took a step forward making the frightened Mira take a step backward, “have you gotten it? It’s been more than four months since we are married now and the company stock keeps on falling. If I don’t get any help within a month, my C. E. O. title will be taken away. Is that when you will finally be happy ruining me?”
Daniel’s words echoed in Mira’s ears like a sharp beat from a loud drum as her eyes seemed to lose focus. “I give you a month Mira,” he took a step forward again as he took hold of Mira’s chin, tilting her head up to look into her eyes, “just a month and if I didn’t see any solution to this, I’m divorcing you!” He spat, pushing her head away from his hand like she was some dirt before walking away.
Mira’s world went dark, and she felt like she was falling into a deep abyss. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. All she could do was stand there, frozen in shock, as Daniel’s words cut through her like a knife. The Daniel she got married to four months ago wouldn’t say this to her.
Mira had been manipulative since childhood. Her manipulative nature stemmed from getting jealous of the beautiful Lina who has everything she could ever dream of having. Since then, she had promised herself to always snatch all that Lina wanted. That was why she manipulated Daniel into falling in love with her in the first place. She would stand at nothing to achieve her goal.
Remembering the video Ashley showed her two weeks ago, she greeted her teeth in anger. It must be that bitch’s fault. She must have said something to Daniel. Yes, that should be what happened. She pushed all the blame of her misfortune into Lina who was still fighting for her life in the hospital. If she didn’t deal with Lina, she wouldn’t have peace.
As Mira stood in the living room, she felt a sense of desperation wash over her. She knew she had to do something to regain control of the situation. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number, but it was switched off. She gritted her teeth in frustration. Where was Mr. Vic? She had been trying to call Mr Vic for the past few days to no avail. Ashley also didn’t let her rest. She had been bombarding her phone with calls.
She was frustrated with everything. She took her bag from the sofa as she made her way out of the house finally going out to receive fresh air.

At the Robert villa.
“Welcome young miss.” A maid greeted Mira as she walked into the villa. As usual, Mira didn’t reply. Her head was held high like a peacock as she sauntered her way in with her high heels clicking on the floor to announce her arrival.
“Where is my mother?” Mira asked, walking into the villa.
“She is inside young Miss.” The maid replied.
Mira strolled into the living room, her high heels clicking on the marble floor announcing her arrival.
“Mom, I’m back,” Mira shouted happily as she entered the room.
Rebecca’s hand froze midair hearing that familiar voice. She turned back, her eyes locking into Mira’s.
