Raphael walked quickly through the hallways, his chest tightening with worry. Damian’s condition had been bad earlier, but something inside Raphael told him it wasn’t just a passing sickness. He pushed the door to Damian’s room open and hurried inside.
Damian was still lying on the bed, his face pale and his shirt soaked with sweat. His breathing was shallow, and his hands twitched slightly, as if he were fighting an invisible battle in his sleep.
“Damian,” Raphael muttered under his breath, moving closer to the bed. “You’ve always been tough, brother. Don’t you dare give up now.”
As he leaned over Damian, the sound of hurried footsteps made Raphael turn sharply. The door opened, and Luna appeared, her face full of worry.
“Who are you?” Raphael demanded, his tone sharp.
Luna hesitated at the door, bowing her head quickly. “I’m Luna, sir, I believe we’ve met before but it’s okay not to remember me” she said softly. “I… I work here as one of the maids.”
“What are you doing here?” Raphael asked, stepping toward her. His eyes narrowed as he studied her face. “Why are you sneaking around?”
Luna shook her head, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. “I’m not sneaking around, sir,” she said nervously. “I was just worried about Master Damian. He didn’t look well earlier.”
Raphael’s eyebrows raised in suspicion. “And how do you know he wasn’t well?” he asked. “You’ve been in this room before?”
Luna hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Yes, sir. Mrs. Wolfe asked me to come here earlier to arrange Master Damian’s room during the party,” she explained.
“And?” Raphael pressed, his tone firm.
“And while I was here, Master Damian came in,” Luna said, her voice trembling slightly. “He looked… strange. He was sweating and trembling, and he couldn’t stand properly. I didn’t know what to do, but he asked me to leave , I came back because I figured something might be wrong with him.”
Raphael stared at her for a moment, his sharp eyes searching her face for any sign of dishonesty. Finally, he let out a small sigh and handed her his cellphone.
“Call the doctor,” he said. “The family doctor. Now.”
Luna blinked, surprised at the request. “Me?” she asked, pointing to herself.
“Yes, you,” Raphael said impatiently. Raphael handed over his phone to her “Dial the number and tell him to come right away. I need to keep Damian stable.”
Luna nodded quickly, taking the phone from him. Her hands trembled slightly as she dialed the number Raphael provided. The line rang a few times before a calm, professional voice answered.
“Dr. Hughes speaking,” the voice said.
“This is Luna,” she said quickly, her voice soft but steady. “I’m calling from the Wolfe estate. Master Damian is very ill. Please, we need you to come right away.”
“Is he conscious?” Dr. Hughes asked, his tone serious.
“No, sir,” Luna said, glancing at Damian’s still form. “He’s sweating a lot, and his breathing is weak.”
“I’m on my way,” the doctor said firmly. “Tell whoever’s with him to keep him calm and don’t try to move him until I get there.”
Luna ended the call and handed the phone back to Raphael. “He’s coming,” she said. “He’ll be here soon.”
Raphael nodded, running a hand through his hair. “Good,” he said. “Now help me keep Damian steady until he gets here.”
The two of them worked quickly, adjusting Damian’s pillows and wiping the sweat from his forehead with a damp cloth. Luna moved quietly and efficiently, her hands steady despite the fear in her eyes.
“You seem calm for someone so young,” Raphael said, glancing at her as he worked.
Luna shook her head. “I’m not calm,” she admitted. “But Master Damian has always been kind to me ever since he brought me back when Aurora requested it . I can’t just stand by and do nothing.”
Raphael’s gaze softened slightly. “Kind to you? Damian kind? ” he asked, his tone curious.
“Yes,” Luna said quietly. “Ever since Aurora… Aurora brought me back , he’s been different. He doesn’t let anyone hurt me.”
Before Raphael could respond, there was a knock at the door. A maid entered, bowing deeply. “Sir, the doctor has arrived,” she said.
“Bring him in,” Raphael said quickly.
Moments later, Dr. Hughes entered the room, his medical bag in hand. He was an older man with sharp eyes and a calm demeanor that put everyone at ease.
“Where is he?” Dr. Hughes asked, moving toward the bed.
Raphael stepped aside, gesturing to Damian. “He’s been like this for hours,” he said. “We don’t know what’s wrong.”
Dr. Hughes leaned over Damian, his experienced hands moving quickly as he examined him. He checked Damian’s pulse, his breathing, and his pupils, his brow furrowing slightly as he worked.
“His temperature is dangerously high,” the doctor said. “And his pulse is irregular.”
“Do you know what’s causing it?” Raphael asked, his voice tight with worry.
Dr. Hughes shook his head. “Not yet,” he said. “I need to take a blood sample and run some tests. But for now, we need to move him to the hospital. He’s too weak to stay here.”
Raphael frowned. “The hospital? Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Dr. Hughes said firmly. “He needs proper monitoring and treatment. If we don’t act quickly, his condition could worsen.”
Raphael hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Fine,” he said. “We’ll take him.”
The doctor turned to Luna, who had been standing quietly near the bed. “Can you help with the preparations?” he asked. “We’ll need to transport him carefully.”
Luna’s eyes widened slightly, but she nodded. “Of course,” she said.
Raphael looked at her, his expression thoughtful. “Luna,” he said, his tone softer than before. “I want you to come with us.”
“Me?” Luna asked, her voice filled with surprise.
“Yes,” Raphael said. “Damian trusts you. And right now, I need someone he trusts to help take care of him.”
Luna hesitated, her hands twisting nervously in front of her. “I… I’ll come,” she said finally. “If it’s what Master Damian needs, I’ll do it.”
Raphael nodded, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. “Good,” he said. “Let’s move quickly.”
As the maids prepared Damian for the journey, Luna and Raphael stood by his side, their worry clear in their eyes. The night had taken a strange and dangerous turn, but they were determined to get Damian the help he needed.
