Chapter 159 – Get out!

Book:The Rejected Ex-Wife Published:2025-2-8

June woke up in Zeus’s bed.
She rubbed her eyes awake, feeling a bout of headache hit her. Apparently, the consequences of excessive drinking were the same in both worlds.
June sat up and was startled by the sight of Zeus who stood before her with a sizzling cup. “Drink.” he ordered and she shook head.
The smell of it threatened to spill the contents of her stomach. Zeus didn’t take no for an answer. He drew closer to her, ready to feed it to her.
“Alright! Alright!” She raised her hand and accepted the drink. It was the worst thing she had ever tasted.
“Drink it all.” Zeus said and she painstakingly finished the bitter drink.
The bitterness lasted for a while and shortly after, she felt better. So much better like it never happened to begin with.
June soon realised she had lighter curtains, and her bedroom was definitely not as dark themed. “How did I get in here?” she asked, quickly looking under her skirt to ensure her clothes were intact.
“I would never take advantage of you in that manner.” Zeus said with a frown. “You should give me more credit, Augusta.”
June let out a deep breath, and got up from the bed. “I apologize.” she said with a little bow, “I’ll be on my way.”
She made to leave but was stopped by Zeus’s words. “Last night, you said something.”
The silence was nauseating.
“You spoke of an ex-husband.” Zeus observed her reactions closely. “Rafael?” His brows ticked.
June felt her heart cut. She couldn’t believe it. She spilled her guts to Zeus! How would she explain it?
“Do you have an ex-husband? Who is this Rafael you speak of?” He probed, watching her intently.
June scratched her head in search of an answer. She came up with the oldest trick in the book. “I was drunk!”
“I don’t remember half the things I said at the time! Please don’t take my drunken ramblings to heart.”
Rafael hoped to gain more insights on her thoughts and pick her brains but she managed to evade his plots. She hadn’t even blinked at the mention of his name. He didn’t know whether to be upset that he was wrong or happy that the love of his life wasn’t in the sticky situation he was in.
June felt her heart pound into her system as Zeus examined her with raised eyebrows. When he finally let it pass, she rushed out of the room, swearing never to drink again.
June came face to face with one of the winning ladies who stood at the door, ready to knock. She wore a skin tight tank top and shorts that left nothing to the imagination.
June wondered how she got into the house but kept her tongue tied. The last thing she needed was more enemies in the pack.
“What are you doing here?” Candice asked, a frown grew on her face.
Zeus stepped out of the room and Candice fixed her face. “Good morning Alpha!” She greeted him with a smile.
“I cooked breakfast and was hoping you could join me at the table before we head to training.”
“I don’t eat before training.” He deadpanned and walked away.
Tara stepped into the hallway dressed in a training outfit. June was confused at her sudden appearance.
“If you had been more interested in the Alpha, you would have realized that he only eats after training.” Tara chastised snottily.
Candice grew angry. “I’m sorry, Tara. While you spent the most part of your life pining after the Alpha, I was busy getting stronger and building connections.”
“How dare you?” Tara raged.
“Unlike you, I have a life outside the Alpha, so if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.” Candice left the confrontation with the last words, which made Tara furious and June concerned.
The day was uneventful, safe for the obvious flirting and unusual presence of Zoey and Candice around the Alpha.
While he trained, they trained somewhere close by. When he returned to work, they occasionally brought drinks and food to ‘aid his work process.’
Zeus took it all without a word of complaint until he returned to his quarters and found Zoey, one of the ladies lying in his bed, naked.
“What the fuck are you doing on my bed?” He growled, eyes flickering between red and white.
Rafael tried to stop Zeus from making an appearance and the task grew harder as the minutes passed with Zeus itching to come out and burn the young lady to crisp.
The atmosphere turned hotter and Zoey panicked when she saw his flickering eye colour. “Get out!” Rafael roared as he tried to combat Zeus from taking over.
Zoey jumped off the bed, picked her clothes and rushed out of the room without a glance back. Although she wanted to be Luna, she loved her life dearly.
It was not news what an angry Zeus can do and she refused to be a casualty in the equilibrium. June saw her rushing out of the room half naked and she felt a twinge of jealousy.
Was he entertaining the girls in bed? She thought. June found out the reason for the girl’s presence in the Alpha’s house after her training session.
Everyone spoke about the three ladies who were living in the house to help the Alpha choose his bride in the mating ceremony which was a few days away.
