Mangerian amulet was a unique artifact believed to have magical effects, such as warding off evil, protecting against danger, enhancing relationships, and bringing wealth.
The amulet in Darnell’s hand was exquisitely crafted.
The small object was about the size of a lighter. Inside was a pendant with a chain, oval-shaped, made of black clay, embedded with four peculiar items.
There was a small ceramic spoon handle, half an aluminum bracelet, a tiny tooth, a small bell, and three strands of black hair.
Turning it over to the front, he noticed there was a black-and-white photo embedded in it. It was very new and depicted a three-year-old child with a pale face.
As he looked at this object, Darnell’s expression instantly became serious.
“Darnell, you know about Mangerian amulets?”
Seeing him scrutinize it closely, Emily became excited, as if she had found a kindred spirit. “You are well-informed.”
Darnell looked at the amulet and smiled. “I know everything. A small Mangerian amulet is nothing. Emily, where did you get this amulet?”
While Judith and Areli were speechless, Emily added enthusiastically:
“This amulet was given to me by an old friend. I heard it was bought at a high price from a temple in Mangeria. Master Tyrone even blessed it.”
“Wearing it can turn misfortune into good fortune and bring wealth.”
Darnell frowned slightly. “Even Master Tyrone blessed it?”
“Yes, it’s said that he’s the top master in Mangeria. He only blesses seven items a year. Anything he blesses is very auspicious.”
Emily still didn’t notice Darnell’s strange expression and continued with a smile,
“I’ve been wearing it for over a week, and indeed, I have good luck. Everything seems to go smoothly.”
“Even Judith, who used to give me headaches, now has you as her boyfriend. It seems this is indeed a good thing.”
Emily took back the amulet lovingly. “I’ll keep wearing it. Maybe I’ll buy a lottery ticket in a few days. If I win three billion dollars, I’ll share half with you.”
Darnell hesitated for a moment before squeezing out a sentence. “Emily, since this amulet is so good, can I borrow it for a few days?”
Before Emily could respond, Judith couldn’t hold back and shouted, “Darnell, don’t push your luck. You already took the check my aunt gave you, now you want the amulet too?”
Areli didn’t speak but could see that something was off with Darnell.
“Judith, how can you be so mean to Darnell?”
Emily glared at Judith disapprovingly and then smiled at Darnell, “Darnell, it’s not that I don’t want to lend it to you for good luck. It’s just that this amulet only works for one person. If it’s transferred to someone else, it won’t be effective anymore. If you like these things, I’ll ask my friend to get one for you.”
“I can guarantee it’ll be better than this one.”
“I’ll also try to get Master Tyrone to bless it.”
Darnell’s lips twitched as he nodded and smiled, “Thank you, Emily. I was just curious.”
Areli noticed that there was a hint of seriousness in Darnell’s usually calm eyes.
“It’s getting late. It might rain tonight. I should go back now. You two take care.”
As Emily was about to leave, she remembered something. “Oh right, there’s a family dinner on Sunday night. Judith, bring Darnell along.”
“7:30 PM sharp. No matter how busy you are, make sure to come so everyone can meet Darnell.”
Judith felt like she had been struck by lightning. “Take him to meet the family?”
Emily put on a stern face. “Do you have an issue?”
Judith replied weakly, “No… I don’t have an issue, but Darnell…”
“No problem!”
Darnell raised his hand high. “Don’t worry, Emily. I’ll be there on time.”
If he could receive a check every time he met an elder, then attending the family gathering the day after tomorrow would mean he could collect a lot of checks! Darnell certainly wouldn’t let such a golden opportunity slip by. Besides, he had a special attachment to that amulet.
Emily left satisfied.
Judith started rolling up her sleeves angrily. “Darnell!”
She rushed into the kitchen and grabbed two knives.
“Are you going to murder your boyfriend?”
Seeing this, Darnell was shocked and dashed out of the door…
“Bastard!”
When Judith reached the elevator, Darnell was already gone. Watching the elevator descend slowly, she swung her knives in mid-air angrily.
This jerk actually dared to take advantage of her kindness, kiss her without permission, taking the check, and even agree to attend the family dinner…
Judith wanted to tear Darnell into pieces. “Bastard! You’ll be struck by lightning sooner or later.”
Rumble!
As soon as she finished speaking, thunder rumbled in the sky. It was going to rain.
“Judith, let it go. He’s just an oddball who’ll only get more annoying if you engage with him. Just go back inside.” Areli persuaded Judith back into the house. “It’s going to rain soon. Take a shower and go to bed early.”
“And besides, Darnell running around wrapped in just a bedsheet is embarrassing enough. People might think he’s having an affair and got kicked out. Consider that his punishment.”
Hearing Areli’s words made Judith laugh out loud as she imagined Darnell being stared at by passersby. Her mood improved significantly.
After chatting for a while longer, Areli got up to return upstairs since she had an early meeting tomorrow and needed rest tonight.
Opening her door and turning on the light, Areli went into the bathroom and took a shower before heading to the living room for some water.
But as soon as she reached the living room, she was stunned. There stood Darnell wrapped in a bedsheet holding a watermelon.
Areli was shocked that Darnell appeared at her house. Darnell was equally shocked…
She wasn’t wearing anything!
A dazzlingly beautiful body that could make anyone’s blood boil was fully displayed before him.
With a delicate waist that could be grasped with a single hand, a soft and supple figure, a full and pert backside, and a smooth, fair belly, she was a vision of beauty. Coupled with Areli’s stunningly beautiful smile, she was undeniably captivating in every way.
Truly God’s flawless creation!
Thud!
The watermelon fell onto the floor as Darnell’s eyes widened. Indeed, God was fair.
All his bad luck at Judith’s place vanished under Areli’s presence. He felt slightly thrilled, for once appreciating Areli soberly.
But he quickly covered his eyes before Areli exploded with anger. He complained, “Areli! How could you do this? Even though this is your living room, you shouldn’t walk around naked!”
“Luckily, it’s me, a gentleman, or else you’d be taken advantage of right now.”
Perhaps because she got used to such a situation, or perhaps because she knew his character well, Areli didn’t scream or get angry this time. Instead, she blushed while covering herself, her gaze icy cold like flying daggers shooting towards him before commanding, “Turn around!”
Darnell swiftly turned around.
Areli added, “Close your eyes!”
Darnell obediently closed them too.
Without returning to her room for clothes, Areli grabbed pajamas heading straight back into the bathroom for another shower. The sound of running water soon filling the air again.
Darnell looked puzzled and asked, “Didn’t you just wash up?”
Areli shot back with a powerful two-word response. “I’m dirty.”
Clearly, she was implying being tainted by his gaze, which made Darnell feel unjustified inside. He muttered, “Areli, it’s not like I wanted to see you naked. You chose not to wear clothes. You can’t be unreasonable like this.”
“Besides, it’s not like I haven’t seen it before.”
Areli ignored Darnell’s comments and remained her usual cold self. “Why are you at my place?”
“I remember locking my doors and windows. There’s no way you could have climbed in from outside.”
Stimulated by the sound of running water, Darnell felt a strange surge of desire but quickly suppressed it, leaning slowly against the doorframe.
“God may have closed the doors and windows, but He opened the chimney, so I climbed in.”
Areli’s voice turned icy. “Stop messing around. Do you still have my fingerprints and passwords?”
Darnell cleared his throat awkwardly. “Well… I really didn’t have any intentions. I just hoped I could rush in and save you if you were in danger.”
“You’re the biggest danger to me,” Areli retorted without hesitation. “I’ll give you three days to erase all passwords and memories. You can’t come back without permission.”
“Or else I’ll send you, the head of the sales department, to develop the African market and tell Judith you tried to assault me, and she’ll put a bullet in you.”
Darnell sighed helplessly, “Miss Fanshaw, you can’t do this! I really didn’t mean it earlier. How about I sing a song to apologize?”
He began to hum a tune. “That night, you forced yourself on me and walked away with a smirk…”
“Shut up!”
Areli cut him off sharply, then remembered something and asked, “By the way, I noticed your face darkened when you picked up Emily’s amulet. What’s wrong?”
“Is there a problem with the amulet?”
