Disaster?
Zoey was slightly taken aback, then burst into laughter, with a charming demeanor. “Mr. Halford, I came to see you for medical treatment, not fortune-telling. Why would you mention a disaster?”
“Besides, I don’t argue with people or get into fights. I am cautious in my actions. This disaster seems rather ridiculous.”
“Everything in the world is interconnected.”
At that moment, Darnell looked serious. “Medical skills and fortune-telling are also related. There are many things in the world that science can’t explain.”
Zoey opened her mouth wide and then tilted her head. “It seems to make sense.”
The three women were speechless. This guy really knew how to bluff.
Darnell smirked confidently. “So when I say you have a looming disaster, it’s actually a form of medical skill.”
Upon hearing these words, Zoey laughed again coquettishly. “Mr. Halford, your words are truly remarkable and convincing.”
“But I still don’t believe that I will have a disaster. Mr. Halford, could you please explain it in detail?”
Darnell chuckled, “Some things are better left undisclosed.”
“Mr. Halford, just tell me.”
Ignoring the hostile glares from Casey and the other two women, Zoey shot a flirtatious look at Darnell, her captivating charm palpable. Meanwhile, the small foot resting at Darnell’s ankle became increasingly restless.
It traced circles up and down his calf provocatively, direct and enticing. “Convince me, and there’s a reward.”
Darnell’s grip on his drink tightened, nearly spilling it all over Zoey’s face. He looked at her, feeling utterly weak-willed, just as he caught her pouting lips curving into a teasing smile, her eyes sparkling with mischief as she playfully blinked at him.
With a serious expression, Darnell said, “Sorry, I can’t.”
However, Zoey showed no signs of restraint. Her foot continued to tease him, gradually sliding upwards beneath the tablecloth.
Damn it! If she kept this up, he wouldn’t be able to control his desires!
While Darnell didn’t mind a beautiful woman flirting with him, he couldn’t stand being toyed with like this, especially with the three women watching. It would ruin his reputation.
With that thought in mind, Darnell maintained his glass in his right hand while discreetly lowering his left hand, swiftly capturing her silky, delicate foot.
He pressed his thumb firmly on a specific acupoint on Zoey’s foot before quickly retracting his hand and placing it back on the table, casually grabbing a slice of orange.
“Ah…”
At first, Zoey felt a jolt of electricity travel through her foot, followed by a delightful shiver that made her limbs crack and pop. An indescribable pleasure spread throughout her body, and she couldn’t help but let out a soft moan, akin to a cat in heat, her cheeks flushing a deep crimson.
What on earth was this woman doing?!
Countless eyes turned toward them, drawn to the woman with slightly parted lips.
Zoey, embarrassed yet angry, exclaimed, “You jerk! How dare you…”
Before she could finish, Darnell stuffed the slice of orange into her mouth, forcing her to swallow the rest of her words.
Hmph, she dared to seduce him? She had to work harder!
Zoey could only eat the orange slice in her mouth and then looked at Darnell wiping his hands with a wet tissue while regaining her coquettish demeanor.
“You pervert.”
Shayla immediately pulled Darnell to her side.
“Mr. Halford, what’s with that woman? Her voice is even more piercing than a cat in heat.”
Darnell smirked, “She’s making all that noise because she thinks my fortune-telling is spot on.”
Bailee paused in surprise. “Mr. Halford, you really can tell fortunes?”
Casey trusted Darnell and asked curiously too, “Yes, how did you know she would have a looming disaster?”
Darnell whispered softly, “If I have sex with her, it’s nothing short of a disaster for her, right?”
The three women were dumbfounded at first and then became angry and embarrassed as they wrestled with Darnell. “Pervert! You pervert!”
At that moment, someone ran over and said that Eliezer wanted Casey and the other two women to come on stage, as he had important matters to discuss with them.
The three of them glanced at Darnell, and he waved his hand lightly. “Don’t worry. He won’t dare to do anything ridiculous during the celebration banquet.”
After hearing Darnell’s words, the three women immediately smiled and left their seats but not without giving Zoey a look filled with hostility and warning.
Zoey had already recovered from the numbness in her feet. She dared not tease Darnell anymore but instead gave him an ambiguous smile.
“They really like you, Mr. Halford. You’re quite lucky.”
Darnell looked proud. “Of course! I’m a real catch.”
Zoey sprayed out some wine and burst out laughing.
At that moment, Eliezer stepped onto the stage with Casey, Shayla, and Bailee by his side along with the host.
Eliezer graciously took the microphone. Evidently, he had experienced many grand occasions before and wore a warm smile on his face.
“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining us tonight at this celebration banquet. Your presence has made half of tonight’s banquet successful.”
“Thank you all.”
The whole room erupted in cheers and applause. Then Eliezer continued with a smile, “As the organizer of this event, I don’t want to give long speeches. All I want to say is, please enjoy yourselves tonight.”
“Before we serve the dishes, I would like to take a moment to recognize a few colleagues. They are Casey, Shayla, and Bailee from the Python Team.”
“Their performance was initially the lowest in the department, but unexpectedly, their group turned out to be the dark horse of this quarter. Not only did they successfully pass the company’s quarterly performance assessment, but they also achieved the highest sales for the month. As a personal reward, I’m giving each of them ten thousand.”
With that, he pulled out three envelopes containing the bonus and handed them to the three women, prompting a round of applause from the audience.
Shayla and the others were momentarily stunned, but then they quickly realized what was happening. Although they didn’t fully understand Eliezer’s intentions, there was no reason to refuse the reward.
As Darnell clapped, Casey and her friends expressed their gratitude to the crowd before bowing together.
“We will work even harder. Thank you all.”
After finishing, the three women prepared to leave the stage. However, Eliezer, beaming with a smile, stopped them. “Are you leaving so soon? Since everyone is in such high spirits…”
“Why not sing a song to entertain everyone? That way, your words of thanks will feel more sincere. Don’t you all agree?”
A wave of cheers echoed through the room. “Yes!”
Casey and her group were caught off guard. They had to sing?
“I remember when you joined, you all sang karaoke, and you were pretty good,” Eliezer continued, his smile unwavering. “Since everyone is so happy today, why not perform something to liven up the mood?”
“It doesn’t matter if it sounds good or not. The important thing is participation. Don’t dampen the atmosphere.”
Eliezer raised his arm, rallying the crowd. “Let’s give them a round of applause!”
The audience erupted in applause, captivated by the three beautiful women. Who wouldn’t love that?
As Darnell frowned slightly, Casey and her friends exchanged glances, then looked at their clapping colleagues, biting their lips in reluctant agreement.
With no preparation at all, Shayla, Bailee, and Casey found themselves under Eliezer’s pressure and the audience’s eager anticipation. They helplessly sang a song and were even forced to improvise a dance.
The lyrics were simple, and the dance wasn’t difficult, but the trio had zero mental preparation, making their performance cringeworthy.
Bailee missed her turn, Shayla went off-key, and Casey stepped on her friend’s foot. They were utterly embarrassed on stage.
This was easily the most awkward performance Darnell had ever witnessed.
If it weren’t for their stunning looks, someone might have thrown eggs at them.
