Kayla
I was in the ballroom with Davies when a thundering familiar growl tore through the entire atmosphere and made the ground beneath me rocked and trembled angrily.
It was so strong that it overpowered the blasting music that we were all dancing to instantly.
Everybody in the grand hall stopped moving. For an unbelievable second, I couldn’t move a muscle and I was afraid to look in the direction the familiar sound came from.
“Kayla! Looks like your husband is about to throw a fit.” Davies pointed out. I followed his gaze and sure as hell Asher was glaring at us. His gaze was hardened, growing darker and deadlier with a striking rage.
I couldn’t deny it I felt my heart double beat. Strangely a little fear crept into my chest.
I knew I had offended him by leaving the castle without his permission but on another thought, I was elated that he came at least no one would say he didn’t come for my sister’s nuptial vow.
“I have to leave now sister,” Davies whispered as he let go of me.
In a flash, Asher swallowed the distance between us, taking a step closer to me. Without thinking, I took several steps backward in fear. My legs were trembling harder while my fear grew.
He bridged the gap between us, and before I could move again, his large hand gripped my waist, pulling me closer to him. I found an internal warmth spreading through my body, touching me in places where I could feel all of him. His warmth, his body, his lust, his desires, and his rage. But my drumming heartbeat didn’t slow down.
“I knew what I did was wrong but please can you not make a scene? I don’t want to be the reason why my sister’s nuptial vow is a disaster.” I whispered
Asher’s eyes narrowed on me and we dwelt in silence, staring intently at each other.
He sighed, and his hand slid up my back and stopped at my neck. He brushed my hair back from my neck, while his fingers ran up and down the nape of my neck, making my body begin to turn hot. There were sparks and goosebumps all over my skin, not because of the cold air around the hall, but because Asher’s hold on me made my body weak.
He leaned down and his nose grazed the crook of my neck, at my marking spot. He inhaled my scent deeply like I was the oxygen he needed to live. I shut my eyes, grabbing hold of his jacket. I was literally dying of so much pleasure and what’s worse, he was barely doing anything to me.
His fingers ran over my body, caressing every part of me and all I could do was moan to his touches. He leaned on me, pushing back the locks of hair that covered my ears. “You are so beautiful, wifey.”
I opened my eyes and blushed at his words as my body arched against him. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as Asher pulled me closer, our bodies pressed together in a heated embrace. I had never felt so alive.
He took my hand and led me to the center of the ballroom, where a grand piano sat in the corner. The musician began to play a soft melody, and Asher smiled at me.
“Are you ready to dance?” he asked, his voice low and smooth.
“What are you doing here?” I asked as his hands pulled me tighter against him and guided my hips to the music.
“You left without telling me. What then were you expecting me to do?” He said before gripping the back of my head and tugging softly on my hair. I was surprised at how gentle he was despite the fury radiating off him.
I gently slipped my hand into his as he pulled me closer. His enticing scent filled my nostrils.
I bit my lower lip nervously and as if he had read my mind, Asher’s hold on my waist became just a tad bit firm.
“I didn’t tell you because you wouldn’t let me leave and there was no way I was going to miss my sister’s nuptials.”
His eyes narrowed. “Don’t misunderstand me, Kayla. Whatever I did or said was to protect you. But you should have left a note before leaving, I almost killed one of the pack omegas because of you. Don’t ever play this kind of game with me again.”
For the first time tonight, I felt guilty for putting him through that. But he left me no choice.
We stayed silent and moved our bodies in perfect harmony and soon I forgot all my worries and lost myself in the moment.
I tried to focus on the steps, but my mind kept drifting to Asher’s touch. With his arms around me, as we danced to the soft tunes, I felt butterflies in my stomach.
Slowly and steadily, I tried to loosen up, swaying to the rhythm of the music as Asher guided me through the steps. I could feel his muscles tense beneath his shirt as he held me and I couldn’t help but feel more drawn to him.
“You know,” Asher said, breaking the silence. “You’re not half bad at this.”
I laughed, feeling more at ease with his playful banter but before I could reply his lips crashed down on mine in a possessive kiss. I held onto his shoulders and tried to catch my breath.
He shamelessly gripped my ass in his hands and grinded his hips against mine. If his mouth wasn’t on mine, I would have definitely moaned out his name.
I looked down to hide the deep rosy blush on my face when he pulled away from me and I also took a moment to calm down my racing heart. I couldn’t believe he just kissed me in front of everyone. I could feel many eyes on us drilling holes in my body but I tried not to pay attention to them.
“You didn’t have to do that in front of everyone,” I muttered
Asher chuckled. “Is there any written decree on where I can kiss my wife?”
I narrowed my eyes. “Looks like I am only your wife when it’s convenient for you.”
He didn’t respond, instead, he guided me away from the dance floor when the music stopped and it was then that I noticed my entire family staring at us with a look of disbelief on each of their faces. I was sure they must have witnessed the kiss too.
“Alpha, it’s nice of you to join us. We were worried when we saw Kayla alone without anyone to escort her.” Maria said though she was trying to be nice but there was still an edge to her voice.
“If I am being honest with you, I don’t want to be here,” Asher growled. “I don’t know if your sister told you but her life has been put in danger multiple times. I didn’t want her to leave my side in order to protect her. Instead, she sneaked out of my castle and came here all alone. Didn’t she tell you?”
My eyes widened. Why on earth would he say these things in front of my family members?
“No, she didn’t,” Maria said as she turned to me with a look of disapproval on her face.
“Please excuse us for a second,” I said as I grabbed Asher’s hand and tried to pull him away from my family. “Why would you tell them that?”
“If I can’t talk some sense into your head, I was hoping your family would be able to do that.” He said, his voice low and husky.
I crossed my hands against my chest and glared at him. His eyes traveled down my body and I shivered from the intensity.
“It’s time to go back.”
My eyes widened. “I want to stay longer and besides you don’t expect me to be the first person to leave my sister’s nuptials day.”
“Kayla, this topic is not open for discussion, I hope you listen and save me the energy of using force.” He growled, his tone angry and his gaze fixed on me.
I couldn’t believe him. I shouldn’t have expected anything different from him. I knew he wouldn’t change his mind so I made my way back to my family. “I’m sorry but I can’t stay longer.” I apologized
They all took one look at Asher and didn’t try to stop me from leaving.
