Nadine 0094

Book:Chasing Back What's Mine Published:2025-2-8

As I sit on the bed, I ask, “What’s wrong?” A part of me yearns for Ethan’s touch again, but another part of me dies inside when Logan crosses my mind.
Damn you Logan, I think, as he’s consumed my thoughts.
Every time I consider giving in to Ethan completely, Logan somehow waltzes into my mind, dampening my spirit.
I notice Ethan has finished his call, and he wears an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry, Nadine. I have to go,” he says. I nod, relieved he hasn’t sensed the change in my demeanor.
He hovers over me, giving me a gentle kiss on the lips before slowly moving his mouth down to my breast. He grazes my skin with his teeth, and I part my lips, smiling, as I gently push his head away.
As Ethan raises his head, our eyes meet, and I wish I could simply curl up with him all night.
But he has to leave, and he quickly gets dressed, grabbing another shirt from the closet to replace the one I tore apart. He walks out the door, and I sigh in relief
I hold my hair tightly, trying to shake off the thoughts that haunt me. Logan’s face refuses to leave my mind, and I’m frustrated with myself for still being affected by him.
I’m at a crossroads. I slowly get up from the bed and slip on a robe, tying it in place as I head to the kitchen to make myself mac and cheese.
I open the cabinet and gather the ingredients, lost in thought. But my peace is short-lived, as the ringing of the doorbell startles me.
What the hell? Did Ethan change his mind? I wonder, as I slowly make my way to the door.
I open it, expecting to see Ethan’s face, but my words get stuck in my throat as I take in the person standing before me. Logan fucking West.
My breath hitches in my throat as I take in a sharp intake of air, my heart racing.
I’m frozen, unable to move or speak, as Logan’s piercing eyes lock onto mine, with a smile on his lips.
My mind goes into overdrive, unable to process Logan’s sudden appearance at my door.
His gaze is cold and domineering, sending a shiver down my spine.
I know I should be afraid, but instead, I’m stuck in place, staring at him with wide eyes.
Suddenly, my senses snap back into focus, and I react on instinct. I try to shut the door, but before it can close completely, Logan’s hand shoots out, stopping it.
He pushes the door open and steps inside like he owns the damn house invading my space.
My adrenaline pumps as I take a step back, trying to create some distance between us.
But Logan’s eyes are fixed on me, his gaze piercing and intense. I can sense emotions emanating from him – anger, frustration, and something else I can’t quite decipher.
Logan’s gaze looks around my small, cozy home, I know it can’t be compared to his grand mansion.
I sense a hint of disdain in his expression, but I refuse to let it get to me. He starts sniffing the air, his nostrils flaring, and I finally find my voice.
“Can you fucking leave right now?” I say, my words coming out in a way I wasn’t sure myself, as I point towards the door.
Logan’s eyes narrow, his jaw clenched, and for a moment, I wonder if I’ve made a mistake.
What the hell does he want? He’s been gone since the hospital, and now he chooses to show up today of all days.
I’m still trying to process his sudden appearance when he softly pushes me against the wall. My anger surges, and I lash out at him.
“Goddamn you, Logan!” I exclaim, my voice low and fierce. His eyes lock onto mine, and for a moment, we just stare at each other.
I try to push him away, but he doesn’t budge, his grip on my arms firm but gentle. I’m trapped, and I know it.
“Did he fuck you?” Logan asks, his voice low and menacing, as he towers over me, overriding my senses.
Slowly, I place my hand on his chest, feeling the sparks fly as our skin connects.
Goosebumps erupt around me, and I shudder, but I need to be in control.
Anger took over me, overtaking my emotions as memories of the pain he caused flooded my mind.
I recall the agony of being sent away, the heartbreak of his disappearance, and the torture of his absence. And now, he dares to show up, asking if someone else has touched me.
My hand rises, and before he can react, I slap him, the sound echoing through the room. “How dare you!” I exclaim, seething with anger, pain, and the memories of torture I endured at his hands.
“You sent me out of your life four years ago, without a word, without a care. And now, you just walk back in, asking me that dumb question?”
My voice trembles with rage. Logan’s eyes widen, his face reddening from the slap, but he says nothing, his gaze fixed on mine.
Logan takes a step forward, his eyes blazing with intensity, while I retreat backward.
“Answer my damn question,” he growls, each word coming out with emphasis. “Did. You. Fuck. Him?”
I throw my hands up in defiance, my voice rising to a shout.
“What do you care, Logan? Why does it matter to you?” But before I can continue, he cuts me off, his words dripping with possessiveness.
“You. Are. Mine. Nadine,” he declares, his voice low and menacing.
“And no man, I repeat, NO MAN dares to take what is mine.” His gaze bores into mine, sending a chill down my spine as he emphasizes his claim.
I feel a shiver run down my spine, as fear and anger race through my veins.
I press my finger into Logan’s chest, in a firm voice.
“Logan, I am not yours, and I’ll never be yours again. We only share a son, and who I choose to fuck is none of your damn business.” I emphasize each word, my tone dripping with disdain.
“Gosh, Logan, you’re so pathetic. You can’t just leave for four years and then walk back into my house, asking if I’ve been fucking someone else. What do you care, Logan?”
As I speak, I notice his eyes darting between mine, his gaze lingering on my lips.
They’re dark with lust, and for a moment, I see vulnerability in his eyes. He takes a step closer, his presence invading my senses with the rich smell of his cologne – a scent I’m all too familiar with.
It’s a smell that once made me weak in the knees, and even now, it stirs something deep within me.
My resolve begins to crumble as his proximity sets my heart racing like a runaway train. And then, in an instant, his lips crashing down on mine in a fierce, heart-wrenching kiss that steals my senses away.
