160. Greedy

I can’t believe myself. I can’t believe what I had done, when I had opened my eyes and saw the classroom free of smoke, free from the flames I had conjured mere minutes ago. I had jumped on Raul.
It was supposed to be a thank you hug, you know, coming from a place of excitement, of happiness that I had finally mastered how to control my magic to some extent, but the hug ended up being the ones couple shared after being apart for probably a year. I had hugged him quite alright, but my legs had moved, of their accord. They had jumped and plastered themselves around his waist. They were still there. Around his waist.
My mind was in shambles, especially since Raul had managed to catch me with all precision, still held me now, and showed no signs of letting go. Don’t I weigh anything?
I retrieved my head from the crook of his neck which scented of masculinity. This contact needed to end now.
“Ehmm..” I muttered now, looking into his face, which although wasn’t red as mine, showed the emotions flaring in his eyes, emotions which I had tasked him to bury, indirectly.
“You did well, for a first timer.” He said, a weak attempt to diffuse the tension between us.
I opened my mouth and shut it, when my eyes zeroed on his lips. We had kissed. I hadn’t thought of it earlier because a lot had been at stake, but now… The lips looked so kissable, so…
“Do you want to forget…”
That trick again? I wanted to fall for it again. I wanted to taste the lips again. Stupid, but I wanted to confirm something. Whatever that was. So, I opened my mouth, as if to speak, welcoming his tongue greedily when he slipped the pleasure tool inside.
I moaned when he withdrew it a few seconds later, and bit my lips softly. A moan, which must have cut the last thread of control over him, because in the next moment, he grabbed my ass firmly, and stalked off to one of the desks in the classroom.
Our tongues battled each other, while our hands played long lasting tunes on each other’s bodies, our intermittent sighs, a proof of a music well enjoyed. And then there was a cough.
Instantly, the stars and the likes of it came tumbling down, causing I and Raul to jerk away from each other. Mr. Robert stood by the door, looking at us, with a twinkle in his eyes. This mustn’t be the first time he was seeing students getting cozy in the school. I might go far to say that it pleased him. Not like a fetish, but because he loved love.
“I see you both managed to quench the fire.”
And I see you both decided to fan the embers between you two. His eyes seemed to expose the words he had kept to himself.
“Thanks Raul. You kept to your promise.” Mr. Robert added after a beat, before his eyes settled on me.
The twinkle from the last minute died, replaced by some emotion akin to pity. Dread pooled in my stomach. What was going to happen to me now?
“Ms. Akwoods, you have been called to a meeting with the board of the school. You are expected to come with me. Are you ready now?”
“Can I come with her?”
Mr. Robert shook his head. “Just Ms. Akwood is required.”
He looked between the two of us, and sighed. “I will wait for you outside, Ms Akwoods.”
I furrowed my eyebrows, watching the man leave the clasroom. The man had sounded like we had more to do, I and Raul. But there was nothing, right? My significant other scoffed. What?
‘You really call that kiss you shared with the wizard, nothing?’
‘I didn’t call it nothing. I’m just saying that there is nothing more we need to do now, only to head over to our respective destinations. We can’t possibly continue from where we stopped, could we?’
My other chucked drily, the chuckle that explained that the person you are conversing with is ignorant.
‘Maya, he wants to talk with you.’
I looked at Raul then, and he was staring at me, with blatant affection. I inhaled sharply when he lifted his hand and touched my right cheek softly. So softly that I almost sighed in relief and want, but that would kickstart the frenzy switch again. Mr. Robert was waiting.
“Does this mean anything for us, Dora?”
I shifted on my feet.
‘Do you get it now?’
I ignored my other. Does the kiss mean anything? I wasn’t sure. But I was sure that I could fall in love with Raul if I wanted. I knew, however, that it wouldn’t work, just like I and Adam’s. These things don’t work. Commoner and a Prince. Those are stories for bedtime to ensure a good sleep, not reality.
I wasn’t even Laura’s relative. I wasn’t a high born in any way. But Diana was, and she might want Raul. I won’t choose a man over my sister.
Then there was the Queen. I had unresolved issues with the woman, so I couldn’t date her son. No no, it cannot work. I can’t marry into that family. They had murdered Zande. There was no way Raul was negligent of the plot.
Yet, I said nothing.
My hesitation to answering his question must be enough of an answer to Raul, because at that moment he schooled his face into steel, and without a word, walked out on me. He never even gave me a backward glance.
I sighed, watching him go.
I’m sorry Raul. I wasn’t sorry for kissing him though. His kisses were expertly given.
‘I thought so too.’
I scoffed. How would it know that?
‘So, are you free for talking now? No more hitches, no more ghosting?’
‘Yes.’
At least some goodnews. ‘So what are you? Wolf?’
‘I’m not a wolf. I will tell you when the time is right.’
Not the answer I expected, but it was better than silence. I thought, whilst walking out of the class.
Let’s meet the board then. What’s the worst that could happen?
