It was the early hours of the morning; Grace was already up, and Cassandra too.
“I will go make a sandwich and coffee; we have to take something before leaving for the airport.” Casandra said and stood up to go prepare something while Grace yawned and stretched herself tirelessly on the bed.
“Okay, I will just get some things ready.” Grace said and then tried to sit up from the bed.
“Hi, Ma, we have done some investigations, and we found out that Grace, her best friend, and her family are leaving the country at 9:00 am this very morning.” The man had reported to Sophia.
Sophia was still asleep when the call had come in, but immediately the men had said leaving the country with her family, her eyes snapped open and she was alert.
“What do you mean by leaving the country? Leaving the country to where! Make sure you have to shoot them all before they even use their eyes to see the airport.” Sophia said and sighed.
“Yes, ma! We are attacking them on their way to the airport.” The man on the other line said to Sophia.
“Are you okay, Mom?” CASSANDRA asked Grace’s mom.
Her face was looking pale.
They were done already and were about to enter the car, and the driver would take them to the airport.
“I am okay, just not happy with how the young man treated my daughter. I caused everything; now she is pregnant for him, and he is nowhere to take responsibilities.” Grace’s mom said, her voice filled with regret, she was supposed to be a good mother to her daughter. But immediately after her husband died, she started taking drugs that made them run out of funds, and that led her daughter into a contract marriage.
“Mom, it is okay; I am fine. I don’t need Nelson in my life anymore. Please, let’s just leave this country and be a happy, big family.” Grace said to her mother and pecked her on the cheek.
“Mom, she said she would be fine; let’s just start going already, Mom.” Cassandra said, and they hugged themselves and entered the car to start their journey to the airport.
The drive to the airport was almost an hour; it was barely thirty minutes when the journey had started. They were driving on a very quiet and lonely road; it was as though no one was taking the road that very day. Unlike before, the road was very lively.
“The route looks a little bit lonely; is there something that happened here lately?” It was Cassandra that first observed, before Grace agreed to what she had said by nodding her head.
“Maybe it is because it is morning.” Grave said she was really not thinking so far as she scrolled on her phone, checking this on the internet to keep herself busy and not bored since the drive would be long.
As the car drove to the airport, she felt that old life leaving her head.
The driver was driving forth and forth when a car from nowhere blocked him immediately, almost causing a serious fatal accident. Because of the skills the driver had possessed, he was able to make sure the accident didn’t happen.
“!!?” Everyone in the car squealed as they tried to protect themselves.
“What just happened? Mom? Are you okay?” Grace said as she tried to check out for everyone.
“Yes, I am.” Her mom’s voice came out barely a whisper.
“Driver! What the hell!” Cassandra squealed at her driver, thinking he was the one at fault.
“Sorry, ma, I think we are being attacked.” The driver said he was shivering; one could tell from his voice.
“What do you mean by we have been attacked? Attacked by who?” CASSANDRA said, and immediately the men Sophia had sent for them to shoot the family came down.
“You all got down already!” Three husky voices rang out.
“Call the police; quickly do that.” Grace told Cassandra.
CASSANDRA was still trying to dial the police number when her phone was snatched away from her by one of the men.
“Don’t you dare touch me! You bastard!” CASSANDRA sneered at the men.
“You all should get down, I said!” One of the men said again after noticing they were trying to prove stubborn.
Grave’s younger brother was the first to get down the car.
“What don’t kill my brothers!” Grace cried out.
Her mom was sobbing already; they were all confused. The men were with guns, and they knew they had to behave themselves; if not, they would be dead.
After some minutes they all got down from the car.
“Say your last prayer, you all.” The head said, his voice strict and ordering.
Just why Grace thought she was leaving the country to cool her head, to go try to get herself back, they had just met an unknown gunman.
“Please! Please! Please!!” Please rang the air; no one really wanted to die.
“Shut the fuck up, you all, with the count of just three, and want you all to shoot them on their forehead.” The head of the men said, and then he started counting.
“One, two, three…’ he was still trying to pronounce three when Cassandra squealed.
“Robert! Robert!” Immediately Cassandra squealed this, the men didn’t shoot anymore.
CASSANDRA had recognised Robert’s voice and had immediately squealed it, and that had saved them, because Robert tried to know who the hell had yelled his name that way.
Just then the police sirens could be heard; the police had surrounded everywhere, and everywhere were surrounded with police who came to rescue Grace and her family.
“Handcuff them!” The head of the police order led the other men.
“Tell us who sent you! Immediately!” The police that handcuffed the men threatened them to reveal who had sent them.
“Sophia, she sent us.” One of the men confessed.
“What the hell? Sophia?” Grave and Casandra squealed almost immediately.
“Is this our picture?” The policeman showed his phone screen that had Sophia’s picture.
“Yes sir, that is her.” One of the men said.
“Go get her; we have found out many death cadets about her; coupled with this, she really deserves life imprisonment.” The police head said to his boys to go get Sophia to the station.
Just then Alpha Nelson came down from his car, and before you know it, he knelt down in front of Grace.
“I am sorry; please don’t leave me, Grace.” Alpha Nelson said, crying.
“What the hell?” CASSANDRA growled inside of her; he had always been sorry.
“Mom, please, I love your daughter; she should not leave me. I will die without her by my side. I know in this love story, they had so many obstacles, and I’m glad we have overcome them, so I guess it is the right time for us to be there for each other.” Alpha Nelson tried to say a lot of things, and when they saw the sincerity in why he was saying them, Grace said.
“You know what? I will forgive you for the sake of our unborn baby.” Grace said, and Alpha Nelson’s jaw dropped open.
“Unborn baby?” Alpha Nelson asked, his face beaming with smiles and happiness as though he had won a thirty million dollar lottery.
“Yes, we are having a baby.” CASSANDRA announced again, and Alpha Nelson rushed to Grace for a tight embrace.
“I am sorry, my love; I promise to love and cherish you and live like a happy family till death do us part; this is my promise.” Alpha Nelson said to Grace, and they kissed deeply, their tongues dancing in each other’s mouths. The kiss was getting deep when Cassandra said,.
“Let’s go home and celebrate this! Hurray!” CASSANDRA said.
“Yes, let’s go home; you all should get into the car.” Alpha Nelson said, holding Grace on the waist as they matched into the car as husband and wife.
They looked so sweet and good together.
